Illuminating Darkness: Learning to Enhance Low-light Images In-the-Wild

Single-shot low-light image enhancement (SLLIE) remains challenging due to the limited availability of diverse, real-world paired datasets. To bridge this gap, we introduce the Low-Light Smartphone Dataset (LSD), a large-scale, high-resolution (4K+) dataset collected in the wild across a wide range of challenging lighting conditions (0.1 to 200 lux). LSD contains 6,425 precisely aligned low and normal-light image pairs, selected from over 8,000 dynamic indoor and outdoor scenes through multi-frame acquisition and expert evaluation. To evaluate generalization and aesthetic quality, we collect 2,117 unpaired low-light images from previously unseen devices. To fully exploit LSD, we propose TFFormer, a hybrid model that encodes luminance and chrominance (LC) separately to reduce color-structure entanglement. We further propose a cross-attention-driven joint decoder for context-aware fusion of LC representations, along with LC refinement and LC-guided supervision to significantly enhance perceptual fidelity and structural consistency. TFFormer achieves state-of-the-art results on LSD (+2.45 dB PSNR) and substantially improves downstream vision tasks, such as low-light object detection (+6.80 mAP on ExDark).

Mass spectrum of the hidden-charm pentaquarks in the compact diquark model

The LHCb collaboration have recently updated their analysis of the resonant $J/ψp$ mass spectrum in the decay $Λ_b^0 \to J/ψp K^-$, making use of their combined Run 1 and Run 2 data. In the updated analysis, three narrow states, $P_c (4312)^+$, $P_c (4440)^+$,and $P_c (4457)^+$, are observed. The spin-parity assignments of these states are not yet known. We interpret these narrow resonances as compact hidden-charm diquark-diquark-antiquark pentaquarks. Using an effective Hamiltonian, based on constituent quarks and diquarks, we calculate the pentaquark mass spectrum for the complete $SU (3)_F$ lowest $S$- and $P$-wave multiplets, taking into account dominant spin-spin, spin-orbit, orbital and tensor interactions. The resulting spectrum is very rich and we work out the quark flavor compositions, masses, and $J^P$ quantum numbers of the pentaquarks. However, heavy quark symmetry restricts the observable states in $Λ_b$-baryon, as well as in the decays of the other weakly-decaying $b$-baryons, $Ξ_b$ and $Ω_b$. In addition, some of the pentaquark states are estimated to lie below the $J/ψp$ threshold in $Λ_b$-decays (and corresponding thresholds in $Ξ_b$- and $Ω_b$-decays). They decay via $c \bar c$ annihilation into light hadrons or a dilepton pair, and are expected to be narrower than the $P_c$-states observed. We anticipate their discovery, as well as of the other pentaquark states present in the spectrum at the LHC, and in the long-term future at a Tera-$Z$ factory.

Heavy quark symmetry and weak decays of the $b$-baryons in pentaquarks with a $c\bar{c}$ component

The discovery of the baryonic states $P_c^+(4380)$ and $P_c^+(4450)$ by the LHCb collaboration has evoked a lot of theoretical interest. These states have the minimal quark content $c \bar{c} u u d$. Interpreted as hidden charm diquark-diquark-antiquark baryons, the assigned spin and angular momentum quantum numbers are $P_c^+(4380)= \{\bar{c} [cu]_{s=1} [ud]_{s=1}; L_{\mathcal{P}}=0, J^{\rm P}=\frac{3}{2}^- \}$ and $P_c^+(4450)= \{\bar{c} [cu]_{s=1} [ud]_{s=0}; L_{\mathcal{P}}=1, J^{\rm P}=\frac{5}{2}^+ \}$, where $s=0,1$ are the spins of the diquarks and $L_{\mathcal{P}}=0,1$ are the orbital angular momentum quantum numbers of the pentaquarks. We point out that heavy quark symmetry allows only the higher mass pentaquark state $P_c^+(4450)$ having $[ud]_{s=0}$ to be produced in $Λ_b^0$ decays, whereas the lower mass state $P_c^+(4380)$ having $[ud]_{s=1}$ is disfavored. Pentaquark spectrum is rich enough to accommodate a $J^P=\frac{3}{2}^-$ state, which has the correct light diquark spin $\{\bar{c} [cu]_{s=1} [ud]_{s=0}; L_{\mathcal{P}}=0, J^{\rm P}=\frac{3}{2}^- \}$ to be produced in $Λ_b^0$ decays. Assuming that the orbital mass difference between the charmed pentaquarks is similar to the corresponding mass difference in the charmed baryons, we estimate the mass of the lower pentaquark $J^P=3/2^-$ state to be about 4110 MeV and suggest to reanalyze the LHCb data to search for this third state. We present the spectroscopy of the $S$- and $P$-wave pentaquark states having a $c\bar{c}$ pair and three light quarks using an effective Hamiltonian approach. Some of these pentaquarks can be produced in weak decays of the $b$-baryons. Combining heavy quark symmetry and the $SU(3)_F$ symmetry results in strikingly simple relations among the decay amplitudes which are presented here.

Analysis of B_{C} --> D_{s}^{*}l^{+}l^{-} in the Standard Model Beyond Third Generation

The weak decays of B_{c} --> D_{s}^{*}l^{+}l^{-} (l=mu,tau) are investigated in the Standard Model with fourth generation (SM4). Taking fourth generation quark mass m_{t'} of about 300 to 600 GeV with the CKM matrix elements V_{t'b}^{*}V_{t's} in the range (0.03-1.2)*10^{-2} and using the new CP odd phase (phi_{sb}) to be 90^{o} the analysis of decay rates, forward-backward asymmetries, lepton polarization asymmetries and the helicity fractions of D_{s}^{*} meson in B_{c} --> D_{s}^{*}l^{+}l^{-} (l=mu,tau) is made. It is shown that the values of these physical observables are greatly influenced by the effects of extra sequential quark generation in the SM. It is found that the zero position of the forward-backward asymmetry in B_{c} --> D_{s}^{*} mu^{+} mu^{-} deviates significantly from that of the SM value while the effects in the decay rate, helicity fractions of D_s^{*} meson and the lepton polarization asymmetries are also quite promising. In B_{c} --> D_{s}^{*} tau^{+} tau^{-} decay, the SM4 the NP effects are somewhat mild in the decay rate and forward-backward asymmetry but they have shown them up in the longitudinal and transverse lepton polarization and also in the helicity fractions of the D_{s}^{*} meson which differ distinctively from the SM values. Thus the study of these physical observables will provide us useful information to probe new physics and helps us to search for the fourth generation of quarks (t',b') in an indirect way.

Comparative Study of B_{c} --> D_{s}^{*}l^{+}l^{-} Decays in Standard Model and Supersymmetric Models

A comparative study of the exclusive rare $B_{c}\rightarrow D_{s}^{\ast}\ell^{+}\ell^{-}$ ($\ell=μ, τ$) decays has been made in the minimal supersymmetric models (MSSM) and the SUSY SO(10) GUT models. In this context, various physical observables such as branching ratios $(\mathcal{BR})$, forward-backward asymmetries $(\mathcal{A}_{FB})$, lepton polarization asymmetries $(P_{L,N,T})$ and helicity fractions ($f_{L,T}$) of $D_{s}^{\ast}$ meson by using the the QCD sum rules form factors have been investigated. It is found that the SUSY effects are characteristically prominent to that of the SM values for these observables. For instance, in SUSY I and SUSY II, the forward-backward asymmetry does not cross zero which is mainly due to the same sign of the $C_{7}^{eff}$ and $C_{9}^{eff}$ Wilson coefficients. Similarly in SUSY SO(10) GUT models due to the complex nature of the new Wilson coefficients -- corresponding to the new operators arising due to the contribution of neutral Higgs bosons (NHBs) -- the above mentioned observables are sizably affected. Therefore the analysis of said observables in charmed semileptonic $B$ meson decays can put some stringent constraints on the parameter space of SUSY variants and can serve as a windowpane to look beyond the SM.

Diquark-Antidiquark Interpretation of Mesons

We study the spectroscopy of the states which defy conventional $c\bar{c}$ charmonium and $b\bar{b}$ bottomonium interpretation respectively, and are termed as exotic states. In August 2003 a state X(3872), was discovered [K. Abe\textit{\ et al.} (Belle Collaboration), Phys. Rev. Lett. \textbf{91}, 262001 (2003) [arXiv:hep-ex/0309032]] and in December 2007 a state Y(10890) was reported [K. F. Chen \textit{et. al.} [Belle Collaboration], Phys. Rev. Lett. \textbf{100}, 112001 (2008) [arXiv:0710.2577]. One possible interpretation of such exotic state is that they are tetraquark (diquark-antiquark) states. Applying knowledge of non-relativistic constituent quark model, we calculate the spectrum of hidden charm and bottom exotic mesons within diquark-antidiquark model. We investigate that X(3872) is $1^{++}$ state of the kind $X_{[cq]}=([cq]_{S=1}[ \bar{c}\bar{q}]_{S=0})_{S\mathrm{-wave}}$, and Y(10890) is $1^{--}$ state of the kind $Y_{[bq]}=([bq]_{S=0}[\bar{b}\bar{q}]_{S=0})_{\mathrm{P-wave}}$ and calculate the decay modes of these exotic states, further supporting X(3872) and Y(10890) as tetraquark (diquark-antidiquark) states and resolve the puzzling features of the data. We study the radiative decays of these states, using the idea of Vector Meson Dominance (VMD), which we hope will increase an insight about these tetraquark states.

Fourth-generation SM imprints in B -> K^*l^+l^- decays with polarized K^*

The implication of the fourth-generation quarks in the B -> K^*l^+l^- (l=mu,tau) decays, when K^* meson is longitudinally or transversely polarized, is presented. In this context, the dependence of the branching ratio with polarized K^* and the helicity fractions (f_{L,T}) of K^* meson are studied. It is observed that the polarized branching ratios as well as helicity fractions are sensitive to the NP parameters, especially when the final state leptons are tauons. Hence the measurements of these observables at LHC can serve as a good tool to investigate the indirect searches of new physics beyond the Standard Model.

K_1(1270)-K_1(1400) mixing and the fourth generation SM effects in B-->K_1l^+l^- decays

The implications of the fourth generation quarks in the B-->K_{1}(1270,1400)l^{+}l^{-} with l=mu, tau decays are studied, where the mass eigenstates K_{1}(1270) and K_{1}(1400) are the mixture of ^{1}{P}_{1} and ^{3}{P}_{1} states with the mixing angle θ_{K}. In this context, we have studied various observables like branching ratio (BR), forward backward asymmetry (A_{FB}) and longitudinal and transverse helicity fractions (f_{L,T}) of K_{1} meson in B-->K_{1}l^{+}l^{-} decays. To study these observables, we have used the Light Cone QCD sum rules form factors and set the mixing angle θ_{K}=-34^{o}. It is noticed that the BR is suppressed for K_{1}(1400) as a final state meson compared to that of K_{1}(1270). Same is the case when the final state leptons are tauons rather than muons. In both the situations all the above mentioned observables are quite sensitive to the fourth generation effects. Hence the measurements of these observables at LHC, for the above mentioned processes can serve as a good tool to investigate the indirect searches for the existence of fourth generation quarks.
