Anisotropy of electric resistance and upper critical field in magnetic superconductor Dy$_{0.6}$Y$_{0.4}$Rh$_{3.85}$Ru$_{0.15}$B$_4$

We have measured temperature dependencies of the electric resistance $R$ and upper critical magnetic field $H_{c2}$ of a magnetic superconductor Dy$_{0.6}$Y$_{0.4}$Rh$_{3.85}$Ru$_{0.15}$B$_4$. The measurements were made for different angles $φ$ of magnetic field inclination to the direction of measuring current and revealed strong anisotropy of the behavior of $R(T)$ and the values of $H_{c2}(T)$. By using the Werthamer-Gelfand-Hohenberg theory, we determined the Maki parameter $α$ and the parameter of the spin-orbital interaction. For $φ= 0^\circ$ and $90^\circ$ both parameters are close to zero, thus the magnitude of $H_{c2}(0) \approx 38$ kOe is basically limited by the orbital effect. At $φ= 45^\circ$, a large value of the parameter $α= 4.2$ indicates dominating role of the spin-paramagnetic effect in the suppression of $H_{c2}(0)$ down to $8.8$ kOe. We suggest that such behavior of $R(T)$ and $H_{c2}(T)$ is caused by internal magnetism of the Dy atoms which may strongly depend on the magnetic field orientation.

The high gas pressure HIP influence on structure and transport properties of $MgB_2$ superconductors of single and multicore composition

Superconducting $MgB_2$ wires in Cu, GlidCop or Monel sheath with Nb or Fe barrier are prepared. Wires vary by sheath material, number of superconducting cores and their chemical composition. Wires are HIP-ed (Hot Isostatic Pressing) at various temperatures ($600-800^oC$) and pressure (up to 1.4 GPa). SEM pictures of cross sections are investigated in order to investigate barrier reactivity and cracking, superconducting material density and grain sizes. Transport measurements are made in magnetic field up to 14 T leading to calculations of critical current density $j_c$ and global pinning force $F_p$. Improvement of transport properties due to higher density of superconducting material is shown.

Bulk magnetization and strong intrinsic pinning in Ni-doped BaFe2As2 single crystals

We report on measurements of isothermal irreversible magnetization loops (M(H)) of Ni-doped BaFe2-xNixAs2 single crystals with x=0.1 and x=0.14 in magnetic fields up to 14T. For both samples in field H//c-axis and H//ab-plane, critical current density calculated from M(H) curves exceeds 106 A/cm2 at low temperatures suggesting strong intrinsic pinning in our crystals. In a broad temperature range 2-17K in both field orientations nearly optimally doped single crystal displays second magnetization peak (fish-tail effect). For H//c-axis, curves of the normalized pinning force, as a function of reduced field, measured at different temperatures obey scaling relation with peak position 0.33 for BaFe1.86Ni0.14As2 crystal and 0.4 for BaFe1.9Ni0.1As2 sample indicating single normal point pinning mechanism. In striking contrast, in H//ab-plane orientation, the scaling of curves is absent.

Magnetic and Superconducting Properties of FeAs-based High-Tc Superconductors with Gd

We report on successful synthesis under high pressure of a series of polycrystalline GdFeAs O_{1-x}F_x high-Tc superconductors with different oxygen deficiency x=0.12 - 0.16 and also with no fluorine. We have found that the high-pressure synthesis technique is crucial for obtaining almost single-phase superconducting materials: by synthesizing the same compounds with no pressure in ampoules we obtained non-superconducting materials with an admixture of incidental phases. Critical temperature for all the materials was in the range 40 to 53K. The temperature derivative of the critical field dHc2/dT is remarkably high, indicating potentially high value of the second critical field Hc2 ~ 130T.
