The Polarized Transition Matrix Element $A_{gq}(N)$ of the Variable Flavor Number Scheme at $O(α_s^3)$

We calculate the polarized massive operator matrix element $A_{gq}^{(3)}(N)$ to 3-loop order in Quantum Chromodynamics analytically at general values of the Mellin variable $N$ both in the single- and double-mass case in the Larin scheme. It is a transition function required in the variable flavor number scheme at $O(α_s^3)$. We also present the results in momentum fraction space.

The three-loop single mass polarized pure singlet operator matrix element

We calculate the massive polarized three-loop pure singlet operator matrix element $A_{Qq}^{(3), \rm PS}$ in the single mass case in the Larin scheme. This operator matrix element contributes to the massive polarized three-loop Wilson coefficient $H_{Qq}^{(3),\rm PS}$ in deep-inelastic scattering and constitutes a three-loop transition matrix element in the variable flavor number scheme. We provide analytic results in Mellin $N$ and in $x$ space and study the behaviour of this operator matrix element in the region of small and large values of the Bjorken variable $x$.

The Asymptotic 3-Loop Heavy Flavor Corrections to the Charged Current Structure Functions $F_L^{W^+-W^-}(x,Q^2)$ and $F_2^{W^+-W^-}(x,Q^2)$

We calculate the massive Wilson coefficients for the heavy flavor contributions to the non-singlet charged current deep-inelastic scattering structure functions $F_L^{W^+}(x,Q^2)-F_L^{W^-}(x,Q^2)$ and $F_2^{W^+}(x,Q^2)-F_2^{W^-}(x,Q^2)$ in the asymptotic region $Q^2 \gg m^2$ to 3-loop order in Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD) at general values of the Mellin variable $N$ and the momentum fraction $x$. Besides the heavy quark pair production, also the single heavy flavor excitation $s \rightarrow c$ contributes. Numerical results are presented for the charm quark contributions and consequences on the unpolarized Bjorken sum rule and Adler sum rule are discussed.

Calculating Three Loop Ladder and V-Topologies for Massive Operator Matrix Elements by Computer Algebra

Three loop ladder and $V$-topology diagrams contributing to the massive operator matrix element $A_{Qg}$ are calculated. The corresponding objects can all be expressed in terms of nested sums and recurrences depending on the Mellin variable $N$ and the dimensional parameter $\varepsilon$. Given these representations, the desired Laurent series expansions in $\varepsilon$ can be obtained with the help of our computer algebra toolbox. Here we rely on generalized hypergeometric functions and Mellin-Barnes representations, on difference ring algorithms for symbolic summation, on an optimized version of the multivariate Almkvist-Zeilberger algorithm for symbolic integration, and on new methods to calculate Laurent series solutions of coupled systems of differential equations. The solutions can be computed for general coefficient matrices directly for any basis also performing the expansion in the dimensional parameter in case it is expressible in terms of indefinite nested product-sum expressions. This structural result is based on new results of our difference ring theory. In the cases discussed we deal with iterative sum- and integral-solutions over general alphabets. The final results are expressed in terms of special sums, forming quasi-shuffle algebras, such as nested harmonic sums, generalized harmonic sums, and nested binomially weighted (cyclotomic) sums. Analytic continuations to complex values of $N$ are possible through the recursion relations obeyed by these quantities and their analytic asymptotic expansions. The latter lead to a host of new constants beyond the multiple zeta values, the infinite generalized harmonic and cyclotomic sums in the case of $V$-topologies.

The 3-Loop Non-Singlet Heavy Flavor Contributions to the Structure Function g_1(x,Q^2) at Large Momentum Transfer

We calculate the massive flavor non-singlet Wilson coefficient for the heavy flavor contributions to the polarized structure function $g_1(x,Q^2)$ in the asymptotic region $Q^2 \gg m^2$ to 3-loop order in Quantum Chromodynamics at general values of the Mellin variable $N$ and the momentum fraction $x$, and derive heavy flavor corrections to the Bjorken sum-rule. Numerical results are presented for the charm quark contribution. Results on the structure function $g_2(x,Q^2)$ in the twist-2 approximation are also given.

The O(α_s^3) Heavy Flavor Contributions to the Charged Current Structure Function xF_3(x,Q^2) at Large Momentum Transfer

We calculate the massive Wilson coefficients for the heavy flavor contributions to the non-singlet charged current deep-inelastic scattering structure function $xF_3^{W^+}(x,Q^2)+xF_3^{W^-}(x,Q^2)$ in the asymptotic region $Q^2 \gg m^2$ to 3-loop order in Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD) at general values of the Mellin variable $N$ and the momentum fraction $x$. Besides the heavy quark pair production also the single heavy flavor excitation $s \rightarrow c$ contributes. Numerical results are presented for the charm quark contributions and consequences on the Gross-Llewellyn Smith sum rule are discussed.

$W^+W^-$ production at hadron colliders in NNLO QCD

Charged gauge boson pair production at the Large Hadron Collider allows detailed probes of the fundamental structure of electroweak interactions. We present precise theoretical predictions for on-shell $W^+W^-$ production that include, for the first time, QCD effects up to next-to-next-to-leading order in perturbation theory. As compared to next-to-leading order, the inclusive $W^+W^-$ cross section is enhanced by 9% at 7 TeV and 12% at 14 TeV. The residual perturbative uncertainty is at the 3% level. The severe contamination of the $W^+W^-$ cross section due to top-quark resonances is discussed in detail. Comparing different definitions of top-free $W^+W^-$ production in the four and five flavour number schemes, we demonstrate that top-quark resonances can be separated from the inclusive $W^+W^-$ cross section without significant loss of theoretical precision.

3-Loop Heavy Flavor Corrections in Deep-Inelastic Scattering with Two Heavy Quark Lines

We consider gluonic contributions to the heavy flavor Wilson coefficients at 3-loop order in QCD with two heavy quark lines in the asymptotic region $Q^2 \gg m_{1(2)}^2$. Here we report on the complete result in the case of two equal masses $m_1 = m_2$ for the massive operator matrix element $A_{gg,Q}^{(3)}$, which contributes to the corresponding heavy flavor transition matrix element in the variable flavor number scheme. Nested finite binomial sums and iterated integrals over square-root valued alphabets emerge in the result for this quantity in $N$ and $x$-space, respectively. We also present results for the case of two unequal masses for the flavor non-singlet OMEs and on the scalar integrals ic case of $A_{gg,Q}^{(3)}$, which were calculated without a further approximation. The graphs can be expressed by finite nested binomial sums over generalized harmonic sums, the alphabet of which contains rational letters in the ratio $η= m_1^2/m_2^2$.

3-loop heavy flavor Wilson coefficients in deep-inelastic scattering

We present our most recent results on the calculation of the heavy flavor contributions to deep-inelastic scattering at 3-loop order in the large $Q^2$ limit, where the heavy flavor Wilson coefficients are known to factorize into light flavor Wilson coefficients and massive operator matrix elements. We describe the different techniques employed for the calculation and show the results in the case of the heavy flavor non-singlet and pure singlet contributions to the structure function $F_2(x,Q^2)$.

3-loop Massive $O(T_F^2)$ Contributions to the DIS Operator Matrix Element $A_{gg}$

Contributions to heavy flavour transition matrix elements in the variable flavour number scheme are considered at 3-loop order. In particular a calculation of the diagrams with two equal masses that contribute to the massive operator matrix element $A_{gg,Q}^{(3)}$ is performed. In the Mellin space result one finds finite nested binomial sums. In $x$-space these sums correspond to iterated integrals over an alphabet containing also square-root valued letters.

Recent progress on the calculation of three-loop heavy flavor Wilson coefficients in deep-inelastic scattering

We report on our latest results in the calculation of the three-loop heavy flavor contributions to the Wilson coefficients in deep-inelastic scattering in the asymptotic region $Q^2 \gg m^2$. We discuss the different methods used to compute the required operator matrix elements and the corresponding Feynman integrals. These methods very recently allowed us to obtain a series of new operator matrix elements and Wilson coefficients like the flavor non-singlet and pure singlet Wilson coefficients.

The 3-Loop Non-Singlet Heavy Flavor Contributions and Anomalous Dimensions for the Structure Function $F_2(x,Q^2)$ and Transversity

We calculate the massive flavor non-singlet Wilson coefficient for the heavy flavor contributions to the structure function $F_2(x,Q^2)$ in the asymptotic region $Q^2 \gg m^2$ and the associated operator matrix element $A_{qq,Q}^{(3), \rm NS}(N)$ to 3-loop order in Quantum Chromodynamics at general values of the Mellin variable $N$. This matrix element is associated to the vector current and axial vector current for the even and the odd moments $N$, respectively. We also calculate the corresponding operator matrix elements for transversity, compute the contributions to the 3-loop anomalous dimensions to $O(N_F)$ and compare to results in the literature. The 3-loop matching of the flavor non-singlet distribution in the variable flavor number scheme is derived. All results can be expressed in terms of nested harmonic sums in $N$ space and harmonic polylogarithms in $x$-space. Numerical results are presented for the non-singlet charm quark contribution to $F_2(x,Q^2)$.

The 3-Loop Pure Singlet Heavy Flavor Contributions to the Structure Function $F_2(x,Q^2)$ and the Anomalous Dimension

The pure singlet asymptotic heavy flavor corrections to 3-loop order for the deep-inelastic scattering structure function $F_2(x,Q^2)$ and the corresponding transition matrix element $A_{Qq}^{(3), \sf PS}$ in the variable flavor number scheme are computed. In Mellin-$N$ space these inclusive quantities depend on generalized harmonic sums. We also recalculate the complete 3-loop pure singlet anomalous dimension for the first time. Numerical results for the Wilson coefficients, the operator matrix element and the contribution to the structure function $F_2(x,Q^2)$ are presented.

The O(α_s^3 T_F^2) Contributions to the Gluonic Operator Matrix Element

The $O(α_s^3 T_F^2 C_F (C_A))$ contributions to the transition matrix element $A_{gg,Q}$ relevant for the variable flavor number scheme at 3--loop order are calculated. The corresponding graphs contain two massive fermion lines of equal mass leading to terms given by inverse binomially weighted sums beyond the usual harmonic sums. In $x$-space two root-valued letters contribute in the iterated integrals in addition to those forming the harmonic polylogarithms. We outline technical details needed in the calculation of graphs of this type, which are as well of importance in the case of two different internal massive lines.

The Transition Matrix Element A_{gq}(N) of the Variable Flavor Number Scheme at O(α_s^3)

We calculate the massive operator matrix element $A_{gq}^{(3)}(N)$ to 3-loop order in Quantum Chromodynamics at general values of the Mellin variable $N$. This is the first complete transition function needed in the variable flavor number scheme obtained at $O(α_s^3)$. A first independent recalculation is performed for the contributions $\propto N_F$ of the 3-loop anomalous dimension $γ_{gq}^{(2)}(N)$.

ZZ production at hadron colliders in NNLO QCD

We report on the first calculation of next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) QCD corrections to the inclusive production of ZZ pairs at hadron colliders. Numerical results are presented for pp collisions with centre-of-mass energy ($\sqrt{s}$) ranging from 7 to 14 TeV. The NNLO corrections increase the NLO result by an amount varying from $11\%$ to $17\%$ as $\sqrt{s}$ goes from 7 to 14 TeV. The loop-induced gluon fusion contribution provides about $60\%$ of the total NNLO effect. When going from NLO to NNLO the scale uncertainties do not decrease and remain at the $\pm 3\%$ level.

Light-quark two-loop corrections to heavy-quark pair production in the gluon fusion channel

We calculate the two-loop corrections to heavy-quark pair production in the gluon fusion channel which arise from diagrams involving a closed light-quark loop. The calculation is carried out by keeping the exact dependence on the heavy-quark mass. The analytic results are written in terms of logarithms, classical polylogarithms Li_n (n=2,3,4), and genuine multiple polylogarithms Li_{2,2}. The functional arguments are rational expressions of two independent external invariants and they are chosen in such a way that the functions are real in all the physical phase-space points. Through systematic changes in the functional basis, we obtain expansions of the results in both the production threshold and small mass limits.

New Results on the 3-Loop Heavy Flavor Corrections in Deep-Inelastic Scattering

We report on recent progress in the calculation of the 3-loop massive Wilson coefficients in deep-inelastic scattering at general values of $N$ for neutral and charged current reactions in the asymptotic region $Q^2 \gg m^2$. Four new out of eight massive operator matrix elements and Wilson coefficients have been obtained recently. We also discuss recent results on Feynman graphs containing two-massive fermion lines and present complete results for the bubble topologies for all processes.

Reduze 2 - Distributed Feynman Integral Reduction

Reduze is a computer program for reducing Feynman integrals to master integrals employing a variant of Laporta's reduction algorithm. This article describes version 2 of the program. New features include the distributed reduction of single topologies on multiple processor cores. The parallel reduction of different topologies is supported via a modular, load balancing job system. Fast graph and matroid based algorithms allow for the identification of equivalent topologies and integrals.

On the phenomenology of a two-Higgs-doublet model with maximal CP symmetry at the LHC - synopsis and addendum

Predictions for LHC physics are given for a two-Higgs-doublet model having four generalized CP symmetries. In this maximally-CP-symmetric model (MCPM) the first fermion family is, at tree level, uncoupled to the Higgs fields and thus massless. The second and third fermion families have a very symmetric coupling to the Higgs fields. But through the electroweak symmetry breaking a large mass hierarchy is generated between these fermion families. Thus, the fermion mass spectrum of the model presents a rough approximation to what is observed in Nature. In the MCPM the couplings of the Higgs bosons to the fermions are completely fixed. This allows us to present clear predictions for the production at the LHC and for the decays of the physical Higgs bosons. As salient feature we find rather large cross sections for Higgs-boson production via Drell-Yan type processes. In this paper we present a short outline of the model and extend a former study by the predictions at LHC for a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV.

Two-Loop Leading Color Corrections to Heavy-Quark Pair Production in the Gluon Fusion Channel

We evaluate the two-loop QCD diagrams contributing to the leading color coefficient of the heavy-quark pair production cross section in the gluon fusion channel. We obtain an analytic expression, which is valid for any value of the Mandelstam invariants s and t and of the heavy-quark mass m. Our findings agree with previous analytic results in the small-mass limit and with recent results for the coefficients of the IR poles.

Stability and Symmetry Breaking in the General Two-Higgs-Doublet Model

A method is presented for the analysis of the scalar potential in the general Two-Higgs-Doublet Model. This allows us to give the conditions for the stability of the potential and for electroweak symmetry breaking in this model in a very concise way. These results are then applied to two different Higgs potentials in the literature, namely the MSSM and the Two-Higgs-Doublet potential proposed by Gunion at al. All known results for these models follow easily as special cases from the general results. In particular, in the potential of Gunion et al. we can clarify some interesting aspects of the model with the help of the proposed method.
