Mott Insulator to Superfluid Phase Transition in Bravais Lattices via the Jaynes-Cummings-Hubbard Model

The Properties of the Mott insulator to superfluid phase transition are obtained through the fermionic approximation in the Jaynes-Cummings-Hubbard model on linear, square, SC, FCC, and BCC Bravais lattices. For varying excitation number and atom-cavity frequency detuning. We find that the Mott lobes and the critical hopping are not scalable only for the FCC lattice. At the large excitation number regime, the critical hopping is scalable for all the lattices and it does not depend on the detuning.

The influence of the Kerr effect in Mott insulator to superfluid transition from the point of view of the Jaynes-Cummings-Hubbard model

We have studied the Jaynes-Cummings-Hubbard model for a chain with the Kerr effect (nonlinear optical effect) through fermionic approximation. We have observed that the Kerr effec does not cause major changes in the energy spectrum. However, the phase transition properties from Mott insulator to superfluid undergoes significant changes due to the Kerr effect.

Generalizing Planck's distribution by using the Carati-Galgani model of molecular collisions

Classical systems of coupled harmonic oscillators are studied using the Carati-Galgani model. We investigate the consequences for Einstein's conjecture by considering that the exchanges of energy, in molecular collisions, follows the Lévy type statistics. We develop a generalization of Planck's distribution admitting that there are analogous relations in the equilibrium quantum statistical mechanics of the relations found using the nonequilibrium classical statistical mechanics approach. The generalization of Planck's law based on the nonextensive statistical mechanics formalism is compatible with the our analysis.

Stability of the entropy for superstatistics

The Boltzmann-Gibbs celebrated entropy $S_{BG}=-k\sum_ip_i \ln p_i$ is {\it concave} (with regard to all probability distributions $\{p_i\}$) and {\it stable} (under arbitrarily small deformations of any given probability distribution). It seems reasonable to consider these two properties as {\it necessary} for an entropic form to be a {\it physical} one in the thermostatistical sense. Most known entropic forms (e.g., Renyi entropy) violate these conditions, in contrast with the basis of nonextensive statistical mechanics, namely $S_q=k\frac{1-\sum_ip_i^q}{q-1} (q\in {\cal R}; S_1=S_{BG})$, which satisfies both ($\forall q>0$). We have recently generalized $S_q$ (into $S$) in order to yield, through optimization, the Beck-Cohen superstatistics. We show here that $S$ satisfies both conditions as well. Given the fact that the (experimentally observed) optimizing distributions are invariant through {\it any} monotonic function of the entropic form to be optimized, this might constitute a very strong criterion for identifying the physically correct entropy.
