Thermal and Casimir effects in a Lorentz-violating massive scalar field

In this work, a massive scalar field theory incorporating Lorentz violation is investigated. The symmetry breaking is introduced via a background traceless antisymmetric tensor. Within the framework of Thermo Field Dynamics (TFD), the effects of space-time compactification are explored, allowing the simultaneous treatment of thermal and finite-size phenomena. The resulting modifications to the energy-momentum tensor and Feynman propagator are analyzed, leading to Lorentz-violating corrections to the Stefan-Boltzmann law and the Casimir effect. This unified approach highlights the interplay between temperature, spatial constraints, and Lorentz-violating backgrounds in shaping the behavior of quantum fields.

Violation of Lorentz symmetries and thermal effects in Compton scattering

In this paper, the differential cross section for the Compton scattering process is calculated. Two types of corrections are investigated: corrections due to violation of Lorentz symmetry and thermal effects. An extended QED is considered to introduce the parameter that leads to the breaking of symmetry. While temperature effects are introduced using Thermofield Dynamics formalism. It is shown that the differential cross section changes with both corrections. These corrections are dominant at appropriate limits. These special cases are analyzed and compared with other results from the literature.

Finite temperature applications in Gödel space-time

Temperature effects in a scalar field non-minimally coupled to gravity are investigated. The Thermo Field Dynamics formalism is used. This is a topological field theory that allows us to calculate different effects, such as the Stefan-Boltzmann law and the Casimir effect, on an equal footing. These phenomena are calculated assuming the Gödel space-time as a gravitational background. A possible implication of these results at the beginning of the universe is discussed.

Gravitational electron-positron scattering

A scattering process with gravitons as an intermediate state is investigated. To study such a scattering, the Gravitoelectromagnetism theory is considered. It is a gravitational theory built on the analogy between gravity and electromagnetism. The complete Lagrangian formulation of the gravitoelectromagnetic theory includes interactions of gravitons with fermions and photons that leads us to calculate their scattering amplitudes and cross-sections. In this context, the gravitational cross-section of the $e^{-}+e^{+}\longrightarrowμ^{-}+μ^{+}$ scattering process is obtained. A comparison between the electromagnetic and gravitational cross-sections is made.

Vacuum Cherenkov radiation at finite temperature

In this paper we examine the thermal effects of the vacuum Cherenkov radiation in a Lorentz- and CPT-violating electrodynamics. We compute the thermal contribution to the Cherenkov radiation rate within the Thermofield Dynamics approach. Since the model under consideration possess a consistent canonical quantization and also fulfils the physical constraints in order to this vacuum process to happen, it is a perfect candidate to implement the study at finite temperature. We evaluate in details the instantaneous rate of energy loss for a charge, and show that the radiation rate is significantly modified at very high temperatures. Intriguingly, we further observe that when the temperature goes to infinity the radiation rate goes to zero even if the process is kinematically allowed.

Gödel-type solutions in hybrid metric-Palatini gravity

In this paper, the hybrid metric-Palatini gravity is an approach to modified gravity in which is added to the usual Einstein-Hilbert action a supplementary term containing a Palatini-type correction of the form $f({\cal R},T)$. Here, ${\cal R}$ is the Palatini curvature scalar, which is constructed from an independent connection and $T$ is the trace of the energy-momentum tensor. This theory describes a non-minimal coupling between matter and geometry. The modified Einstein field equations in this hybrid metric-Palatini approach are obtained. Then, it is investigated whether this modified theory of gravity and its field equations allow Gödel-type solutions, which essentially lead to violation of causality. Considering physically well-motivated matter sources, causal and non-causal solutions are explored.

On Gravitational Stefan-Boltzmann Law and Casimir Effect in FRW Universe

Both Stefan-Boltzmann law and the Casimir effect, in a universe described by the FRW metric with zero curvature, are calculated. These effects are described by Thermo Field Dynamics (TFD). The gravitational energy-momentum tensor is defined in the context of Teleparallel Equivalent to General Relativity (TEGR). Each of the two effects gives a consistent prediction with what is observed on a cosmological scale. One of the effect establishes a minimum range for the deceleration parameter. While another leads to the conclusion that a possible cosmological constant has a very small order of magnitude.

TFD formalism: applications to the scalar field in a Lorentz-violating theory

The Thermofield Dynamics (TFD) formalism is considered. In this context, a Lorentz-breaking scalar field theory is introduced. In contrast to the Matsubara formalism, the best-known approach to introducing the temperature effect, TFD is a real-time formalism and is a topological field theory. While in Matsubara the temperature effects are introduced as a consequence of a compactification of the field in a finite interval on the time axis, in the TFD this effect emerges through a condensed state related to the Bogoliubov transformation. An advantage of the TFD formalism is that different topologies, which lead to different effects, can be chosen. Here, three different topologies are considered. Then the Stefan-Boltzmann law and Casimir effect at zero and non-zero temperature are calculated. This is a unique feature of TFD, which allows us to treat different phenomena in the same way.

Bhabha scattering in Very Special Relativity at finite temperature

In this paper the differential cross section for Bhabha scattering in the Very Special Relativity (VSR) framework is calculated. The main characteristic of the VSR is to modify the gauge invariance. This leads to different types of interactions appearing in a non-local form. In addition, using the Thermo Field Dynamics formalism, thermal corrections for the differential cross section of Bhabha scattering in VSR framework are obtained.

Casimir effect and Stefan-Boltzmann law at finite temperature in a Friedmann-Robertson-Walker universe

A spatially flat Friedmann-Robertson-Walker background with a general scale factor is considered. In this space-time, the energy-momentum tensor of the scalar field with a general curvature coupling parameter is obtained. Using the Thermo Field Dynamics (TFD) formalism the Stefan-Boltzmann law and the Casimir effect at finite temperature are calculated. The Casimir effect at zero temperature is also considered. The expansion of the universe changes these effects. A discussion of these modifications is presented.

Gödel and Gödel-type solutions in the Palatini $f(R,T)$ gravity theory

The Palatini $f(R,T)$ gravity theory is considered. The standard Einstein-Hilbert action is replaced by an arbitrary function of the Ricci scalar $R$ and of the trace $T$ of the energy-momentum tensor. In the Palatini approach, the Ricci scalar is a function of the metric and the connection. These two quantities, metric and connection, are taken as independents variables. Then, it is examined whether Palatini $f(R,T)$ gravity theory allows solutions in which lead to violation of causality. The Gödel and Gödel-type space-times are considered. In addition, a critical radius, which permits to examine limits for violation of causality, is calculated. It is shown that, for different matter contents, non-causal solutions can be avoided in this Palatini gravitational theory.

Gödel-type universes in bumblebee gravity

The bumblebee field coupled with gravity is considered. This gravitational theory exhibits spontaneous breaking of Lorentz symmetry. The Gödel-type universe is introduced and then the causality and its violation are studied. Causal and non-causal Gödel-type solutions are obtained for different content of matter. In addition, when the coupling constant, which controls the interaction between the bumblebee field and the gravitational field, is zero the bumblebee potential may be associated with the value of the cosmological constant of the general relativity. Furthermore, the case with the non-zero coupling constant is also investigated.

Non-Abelian Gravitoelectromagnetism and applications at finite temperature

Studies about a formal analogy between the gravitational and the electromagnetic fields lead to the notion of Gravitoelectromagnetism (GEM) to describe gravitation. In fact, the GEM equations correspond to the weak field approximation of gravitation field. Here a non-abelian extension of the GEM theory is considered. Using the Thermo Field Dynamics (TFD) formalism to introduce temperature effects some interesting physical phenomena are investigated. The non-abelian GEM Stefan-Boltzmann law and the Casimir effect at zero and finite temperature for this non-abelian field are calculated.

On Regular Black Holes at Finite Temperature

The Thermo Field Dynamics (TFD) formalism is used to investigate the regular black holes at finite temperature. Using the Teleparalelism Equivalent to General Relativity (TEGR) the gravitational Stefan-Boltzmann law and the gravitational Casimir effect at zero and finite temperature are calculated. In addition, the first law of thermodynamics is considered. Then the gravitational entropy and the temperature of the event horizon of a class of regular black holes are determined.

On Stefan-Boltzmann law and the Casimir effect at finite temperature in the Schwarzschild spacetime

This paper deals with quantum field theory in curved space-time using the Thermo Field Dynamics. The scalar field is coupled to the Schwarzschild space time and then thermalised. The Stefan-Boltzmann law is established at finite temperature and the entropy of the field is calculated. Then the Casimir energy and pressure are obtained at zero and finite temperature.

Spin-1/2 particles in Phase space: Casimir effect and Stefan-Boltzmann law at finite temperature

The Dirac field, spin 1/2 particles, is investigated in phase space. The Dirac propagator is defined. The Thermo Field Dynamics (TFD) formalism is used to introduce finite temperature. The energy-momentum tensor is calculated at finite temperature. The Stefan-Boltzmann law is established and the Casimir effect is calculated for the Dirac field in phase space at zero and finite temperature. A comparative analysis with these results in standard quantum mechanics space is realized.

Chern-Simons modified gravity and closed time-like curves

We verify the consistency of the Gödel-type solutions within the four-dimensional Chern-Simons modified gravity with the non-dynamical Chern-Simons coefficient, for different forms of matter including dust, fluid, scalar field and electromagnetic field, and the related causality issues. Unlike the general relativity, the vacuum solution turns out to be possible in our theory. Another essentially new result of our theory having no analogue in the general relativity consists in the existence of the hyperbolic causal solutions for the physically well-motivated matter.

Gödel and Gödel-type universes in Brans-Dicke theory

In this paper, conditions for existence of Gödel and Gödel-type solutions in Brans-Dicke (BD) scalar-tensor theory and their main features are studied. The consistency of equations of motion, causality violation and existence of CTCs (closed time-like curves) are investigated. The role which cosmological constant and Mach principle play to achieve the consistency of this model is studied.

On FRW Model in Conformal Teleparallel Gravity

In this paper we use the conformal teleparallel gravity to study an isotropic and homogeneous Universe which is settled by the FRW metric. We solve the field equations and we obtain the behavior of some cosmological parameters such as scale factor, deceleration parameter and the energy density of the perfect fluid which is the matter field of our model. The field equations, that we called modified Friedmann equations, allow us to define a dark fluid, with dark energy density and dark pressure, responsible for the acceleration in the Universe.

Quantized gravitoelectromagnetism theory at finite temperature

The Gravitoelectromagnetism (GEM) theory is considered in a lagrangian formulation using the Weyl tensor components. A perturbative approach to calculate processes at zero temperature has been used. Here the GEM at finite temperature is analyzed using Thermo Field Dynamics, real time finite temperature quantum field theory. Transition amplitudes involving gravitons, fermions and photons are calculated for various processes. These amplitudes are likely of interest in astrophysics.

On Non-Commutative Correction of the Gödel-type Metric

In this paper, we will study non-commutative corrections in the metric tensor for the Gödel-type universe, a model that has as its main characteristic the possibility of violation of causality, allowing therefore time travel. We also find that the critical radius in such a model, which eventually will determine the time travel possibility, is modified due to the non commutativity of spatial coordinates.

Gödel-type solution in $f(R,T)$ modified gravity

In this paper, we will examine the problem of violation of causality in $f(R,T)$ modified gravity, where $R$ is the Ricci scalar and $T$ is the trace of the energy-momentum tensor $T_{μν}$. We investigate the causality problem in two special cases, in the first we consider the matter content of the universe as a perfect fluid and in the second case, the matter content is a perfect fluid plus a scalar field.

On the Energy-Momentum Flux in Gödel-type Models

In this paper we work in the context of Teleparallelism Equivalent to General Relativity (TEGR) in order to construct the energy-momentum flux for Gödel-type solutions of Einstein's equations. We use an stationary observer, which is settled by the tetrad choice, to obtain the gravitational pressure for each direction of space in cartesian coordinates. Then we write down the total pressure for each direction in terms of the pressure of the fluid, thus we are able to identify role of the gravitational pressure.

The aether-modified gravity and the Godel metric

We formulate the nonminimal aether-modified gravity whose action represents itself as a sum of the usual Einstein-Hilbert action and the CPT-even Lorentz-breaking aether-like gravity term proposed by Carroll. For this theory, we show that the Gödel metric solves the modified Einstein equations under a corresponding modification of the matter, while, for the small Lorentz-breaking corrections, the matter turns out to be usual. On the other side, if the matter is suggested to be the same as in the usual general relativity, the Gödel metric is modified by additive aether terms.

Dynamical Chern-Simons modified gravity and Friedmann-Robertson-Walker metric

We study the conditions for the consistency of the Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) metric with the dynamical Chern-Simons modified gravity. It turns out to be that in this situation the accelerated expansion of the Universe takes place, with the time dependence of the scale factor turns out to be similar to the case of presence of the Chaplygin gas. Also we found that this modification changes the total density of the Universe and therefore gives a nontrivial impact to a cosmological scenario.
