We present a simple and pedagogical derivation of the quantum adiabatic theorem for two level systems (a single qubit) based on geometrical structures of quantum mechanics developed by Anandan and Aharonov, among others. We have chosen to use only the minimum geometric structure needed for an understanding of the adiabatic theorem for this case.
We discuss the concept of proper and improper density matrixes and we argue that this issue is of fundamental importance for the understanding of the quantum-mechanical CTC model proposed by Deutsch. We arrive at the conclusion that under a realistic interpretation, the distinction between proper and improper density operators is not a relativistically covariant notion and this fact leads to the conclusion that the D-CTC model is physically inconsistent.
We have carried out a review of a paper from Tamate et al, conducting a deeper study of the geometric concepts they introduced in their paper, clarifying some of their results and calculations and advancing a step futher in their geometrization program for an understanding of the structure of von-Neumann's pre-measurement and weak values.
We propose to address in a natural manner, the modular variable concept explicitly in a Schrödinger picture. The idea of Modular Variables was introduced in 1969 by Aharonov, Pendleton and Petersen to explain certain non-local properties of quantum mechanics. Our approach to this subject is based on Schwinger's finite quantum kinematics and it's continuous limit.
