Flux jumps at pulsed field magnetization

Flux jumps lead to 10-20 times reduction of the shielding currents at a pulsed field magnetization of a melt-grown HTS annuli. The induced circular currents and the related trapped field are small after a field pulse since the duration of the pulse is shorter than the temperature relaxation time (<<1 s). Moreover, the residual trapped field in the hole of the annuli has the opposite direction in respect to the applied field. It is shown that the small value of the induced circular currents at the relatively high average critical current density is related to a narrow angular region of the flux motion (approximately 7 deg).

Magnetic relaxation in pulse-magnetized high-temperature superconductors

A magnetic field relaxation at the center of a pulse-magnetized single-domain Y-Ba-Cu-O superconductor at 78K has been studied. In case of a weak magnetization, the magnetic flux density increases logarithmically and normalized relaxation rate defined as S=-d(lnB)/d(lnt) is negative (S=-0.037). When an external magnetic field magnitude increases, the relaxation rate first decreases in absolute value, then changes sign (becomes positive, S>0) and after reaching some maximum finally reduces to a very small value. Non-monotonous dependence of S vs Ha is explained by a non-homogeneous local temperature distribution during a pulse magnetization.

Tensor Ayy and vector Ay analyzing powers in the H(d,d')X and ^{12}C(d,d')X reactons at initial deuteron momenta of 9 GeV/c in the region of baryonic resonances excitation

The angular dependence of the tensor Ayy and vector Ay analyzing powers in the inelastic scattering of deuterons with a momentum of 9.0 GeV/c on hydrogen and carbon have been measured. The range of measurements corresponds to the baryonic resonance excitation with masses 2.2--2.6 GeV/c^2. The Ayy data being in good agreement with the previous results demonstrate an approximate $t$ scaling up to -1.5 (GeV/c)^2. The large values of A_y show a significant role of the spin-dependent part of the elementary amplitude of the NN->NN* reaction. The results of the experiment are compared with model predictions of the plane-wave impulse approximation.
