The closedness of complete subsemilattices in functionally Hausdorff semitopological semilattices

preprint2019arXivOpen access

Abstract

A topologized semilattice XX is complete if each non-empty chain C⊂XC\subset X has inf⁡C∈Cˉ\inf C\in\bar C and sup⁡C∈Cˉ\sup C\in\bar C. It is proved that for any complete subsemilattice XX of a functionally Hausdorff semitopological semilattice YY the partial order P={(x,y)∈X×X:xy=x}P=\{(x,y)\in X\times X:xy=x\} of XX is closed in Y×YY\times Y and hence XX is closed in YY. This implies that for any continuous homomorphism h:X→Yh:X\to Y from a compete topologized semilattice XX to a functionally Hausdorff semitopological semilattice YY the image h(X)h(X) is closed in YY. The functional Hausdorffness of YY in these two results can be replaced by the weaker separation axiom T⃗2δ\vec T_{2δ}, defined in this paper.
