Simultaneous Elements Of Prescribed Multiplicative Orders

preprint2021arXivOpen access

Abstract

Let u≠±1u\ne \pm 1, and v≠±1v\ne \pm 1 be a pair of fixed relatively prime squarefree integers, and let d≥1d\geq 1, and e≥1e \geq1 be a pair of fixed integers. It is shown that there are infinitely many primes p≥2p\geq 2 such that uu and vv have simultaneous prescribed multiplicative orders ordpu=(p−1)/d\text{ord}_pu=(p-1)/d and ordpv=(p−1)/e\text{ord}_pv=(p-1)/e respectively, unconditionally. In particular, a squarefree odd integer u>2u>2 and v=2v=2 are simultaneous primitive roots and quadratic residues (or quadratic nonresidues) modulo pp for infinitely many primes pp, unconditionally.
