Rational points on cubic hypersurfaces that split off two forms

preprint2013arXivOpen access

Abstract

We show that if X⊆Pn−1X\subseteq \mathbb{P}^{n-1}, defined over Q\mathbb{Q} by a cubic form that splits off two forms, with n≥11n\geq 11, then X(Q)X(\mathbb{Q}) is non-empty. The same holds for an (m1,m2)(m_1,m_2)-form with m1≥4m_1\geq 4 and m2≥5m_2\geq 5.
