Choosability with Separation in Complete Multipartite Graphs

preprint2014arXivOpen access

Abstract

We show that there is a constant kk such that when r≥2r \geq 2 and m≥rkm \geq r^k, the complete rr-partite graph Km∗rK_{m*r} has a non-colorable list assignment LL such that ∣L(v)∣≥7750rln⁡m|L(v)| \geq \frac{7}{750}r\ln m for all vv and such that ∣L(u)∩L(v)∣≤⌊2rr−1⌋|L(u) \cap L(v)| \leq \left\lfloor \frac{2r}{r-1} \right\rfloor whenever u≠vu \neq v. This roughly extends a result of Alon to the context of "choosability with separation", introduced by Kratochvíl, Tuza, and Voigt.
