Sterile neutrino dark matter in a U(1) extension of the standard model

We explore the parameter space of a U(1) extension of the standard model -- also called the super-weak model -- from the point of view of explaining the observed dark matter energy density in the Universe. The new particle spectrum contains a complex scalar singlet and three right-handed neutrinos, among which the lightest one is the dark matter candidate. We explore both freeze-in and freeze-out mechanisms of dark matter production. In both cases, we find regions in the plane of the super-weak coupling vs. the mass of the new gauge boson that are not excluded by current experimental constraints. These regions are distinct and the one for freeze-out will be explored in searches for neutral gauge boson in the near future.

Experimental constraints on the neutrino and gauge parameters of the super-weak U(1) extension of the standard model

The super-weak force is a minimal, anomaly-free U(1) extension of the standard model (SM), designed to explain the origin of (i) neutrino masses and mixing matrix elements, (ii) dark matter, (iii) cosmic inflation, (iv) stabilization of the electroweak vacuum and (v) leptogenesis. We discuss the neutrino sector of this model in detail and study the allowed parameter space of the neutrino Yukawa matrices and mixing matrix elements. The model generates nonstandard neutrino interactions, whose allowed experimental limits are used to constrain the parameter space of the model. We provide benchmark points in the relevant parameter space that fall within the sensitivity region of the SHiP and MATHUSLA experiments.

Two- and Three-Loop Data for Groomed Jet Mass

We discuss the status of resummation of large logarithmic contributions to groomed event shapes of hadronic final states in electron-positron annihilation. We identify the missing ingredients needed for next-to-next-to-next-to-leading logarithmic (NNNLL) resummation of the mMDT groomed jet mass in $e^+e^-$ collisions: the low-scale collinear-soft constants at two-loop accuracy, $c_{S_c}^{(2)}$, and the three-loop non-cusp anomalous dimension of the global soft function, $γ_S^{(2)}$. We present a method for extracting those constants using fixed-order codes: the EVENT2 program to obtain the color coefficients of $c_{S_c}^{(2)}$, and MCCSM for extracting $γ_S^{(2)}$. We present all necessary formulae for resummation of the mMDT groomed heavy jet mass distribution at NNNLL accuracy.

Particle physics model of curvaton inflation in a stable universe

We investigate a particle physics model for cosmic inflation based on the following assumptions: (i) there are at least two complex scalar fields; (ii) the scalar potential is bounded from below and remains perturbative up to the Planck scale; (iii) we assume slow-roll inflation with maximally correlated adiabatic and entropy fluctuations 50--60 e-folds before the end of inflation. The energy scale of the inflation is set automatically by the model. Assuming also at least one massive right handed neutrino, we explore the allowed parameter space of the scalar potential as a function of the Yukawa coupling of this neutrino.

Jet production in the CoLoRFulNNLO method: event shapes in electron-positron collisions

We present the CoLoRFulNNLO method to compute higher order radiative corrections to jet cross sections in perturbative QCD. We apply our method to the computation of event shape observables in electron-positron collisions at NNLO accuracy and validate our code by comparing our predictions to previous results in the literature. We also calculate for the first time jet cone energy fraction at NNLO.

Three-jet production in electron-positron collisions using the CoLoRFulNNLO method

We introduce a subtraction method for jet cross sections at next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) accuracy in the strong coupling and use it to compute event shapes in three-jet production in electron-positron collisions. We validate our method on two event shapes, thrust and C-parameter, which are already known in the literature at NNLO accuracy and compute for the first time oblateness and the energy-energy correlation at the same accuracy.

Hadroproduction of t anti-t pair in association with an isolated photon at NLO accuracy matched with parton shower

We simulate the hadroproduction of a t anti-t pair in association with a hard photon at LHC using the PowHel package. These events are almost fully inclusive with respect to the photon, allowing for any physically relevant isolation of the photon. We use the generated events, stored according to the Les-Houches event format, to make predictions for differential distributions formally at the next-to-leading order (NLO) accuracy and we compare these to existing predictions accurate at NLO using the smooth isolation prescription of Frixione. We also make predictions for distributions after full parton shower and hadronization using the standard experimental cone-isolation of the photon.

Hadroproduction of t anti-t pair with two isolated photons with PowHel

We simulate the hadroproduction of a t anti-t pair in association with two isolated hard photons at 13 TeV LHC using the PowHel package. We use the generated events, stored according to the Les-Houches event format, to make predictions for differential distributions formally at the next-to-leading order (NLO) accuracy. We present predictions at the hadron level employing the cone-type isolation of the photons used by experiments. We also compare the kinematic distributions to the same distributions obtained in the t anti-t H final state when the Higgs-boson decays into a photon pair, to which the process discussed here is an irreducible background.

Hadroproduction of t anti-t pair with a b anti-b pair with PowHel

We simulate the hadroproduction of a top-antitop pair in association with a bottom-antibottom pair at 14 TeV LHC using the PowHel package. We use the generated events, stored according to the Les-Houches event format, to make predictions for differential distributions formally at the next-to-leading order (NLO) accuracy and we compare these to existing predictions accurate at NLO.

NLO event samples for the LHC

We introduce a twiki page with collections of generated Monte Carlo event samples in proton-proton collisions at LHC energies including a heavy quark-antiquark pair in the final state. These samples are generated with the POWHEG method and can be used to prepare distributions at the NLO accuracy with first radiation treated according to the parton shower approach. Information related to each event is stored in the form prescribed by the Les Houches Accords. Standard parton shower Monte Carlo programs can be used to further evolve these events, and simulate events at the hadron level, ready for almost arbitrary experimental analysis. Currently the available final states are the following: (i) t + \bar{t}, (ii) t + \bar{t} + H, (iii) t + \bar{t} + jet, while the generation of several other final states is in progress.

Top quark pair production in association with a Z-boson at NLO accuracy

We present predictions for the production cross section of t-quark pair production in association with a Z boson at the next-to-leading order (NLO) accuracy using matrix elements obtained from the HELAC-Oneloop package. We use the subtraction method for computing the radiative corrections as implemented in the POWHEG-Box, which was also used in several other computations of similar complexity.

NNLO jet cross sections by subtraction

We report on the computation of a class of integrals that appear when integrating the so-called iterated singly-unresolved approximate cross section of the NNLO subtraction scheme of [1-4], over the factorised phase space of unresolved partons. The integrated approximate cross section itself can be written as the product of an insertion operator (in colour space) times the Born cross section. We give selected results for the insertion operator for processes with two and three hard partons in the final state.

Next-to-leading order calculation of four-jet observables in electron-positron annihilation

The production of four jets in electron-positron annihilation allows for measuring the strong coupling and the underlying group structure of the strong interaction simultaneously. This requires next-to-leading order perturbative prediction for four-jet observables. In this paper we describe the theoretical formalism of such a calculation with sufficient details. We use the dipole method to construct a Monte Carlo program that can be used for calculating any four-jet observable at the NLO accuracy. As new results, we present the NLO prediction for the thrust minor, y_4 and C parameter (at C > 0.75) four-jet shape variables and the four-jet rates with the Cambridge jet clustering algorithm.

Regularization Scheme Independence and Unitarity in QCD Cross Sections

When calculating next-to-leading order QCD cross sections, divergences in intermediate steps of the calculation must be regularized. The final result is independent of the regularization scheme used, provided that it is unitary. In this paper we explore the relationship between regularization scheme independence and unitarity. We show how the regularization scheme dependence can be isolated in simple universal components, and how unitarity can be guaranteed for any regularization prescription that can consistently be introduced in one-loop amplitudes. Finally, we show how to derive transition rules between different schemes without having to do any loop calculations.
