Fully Connected Reconfigurable Intelligent Surface Aided Rate-Splitting Multiple Access for Multi-User Multi-Antenna Transmission

Rate-splitting multiple access (RSMA) has been recognized as a promising and powerful multiple access (MA) scheme, non-orthogonal transmission framework and interference management strategy for 6G. Inspired by the appealing spectral efficiency gain achieved by RSMA over conventional MA schemes in multi-user multi-antenna transmission, in this paper we introduce RSMA to reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS)-aided multiple-input single-out (MISO) broadcast channel (BC). To further enhance the spectral efficiency, a more generalized RIS architecture called fully connected RIS is considered. By jointly optimizing the scattering matrix of the fully connected RIS and the transmit beamformers to maximize the sum-rate, we show that the proposed fully connected RIS aided RSMA transmission scheme significantly improves the spectral efficiency compared with the conventional single connected RIS schemes and the schemes without RIS. It acts as a new benchmark for linearly precoded multi-user multi-antenna networks.

Bearing fault diagnosis based on spectrum images of vibration signals

Bearing fault diagnosis has been a challenge in the monitoring activities of rotating machinery, and it's receiving more and more attention. The conventional fault diagnosis methods usually extract features from the waveforms or spectrums of vibration signals in order to realize fault classification. In this paper, a novel feature in the form of images is presented, namely the spectrum images of vibration signals. The spectrum images are simply obtained by doing fast Fourier transformation. Such images are processed with two-dimensional principal component analysis (2DPCA) to reduce the dimensions, and then a minimum distance method is applied to classify the faults of bearings. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified with experimental data.

Fault Diagnosis of Rolling Element Bearings with a Spectrum Searching Method

Rolling element bearing faults in rotating systems are observed as impulses in the vibration signals, which are usually buried in noises. In order to effectively detect the fault of bearings, a novel spectrum searching method is proposed. The structural information of spectrum (SIOS) on a predefined basis is constructed through a searching algorithm, such that the harmonics of impulses generated by faults can be clearly identified and analyzed. Local peaks of the spectrum are located on a certain bin of the basis, and then the SIOS can interpret the spectrum via the number and energy of harmonics related to frequency bins of the basis. Finally bearings can be diagnosed based on the SIOS by identifying its dominant components. Mathematical formulation is developed to guarantee the correct construction of the SISO through searching. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified with a simulation signal and a benchmark study of bearings.

Forward Kinematics Analysis and Tension Distribution of a Cable-Driven Sinking Winches Mechanism

This paper concerns the forward kinematics and tension distribution of sinking winches mechanism, which is a type of four-cable-driven partly constrained parallel robot. Conventional studies on forward kinematics of cable-driven parallel robot assumed that all cables are taut. Actually, given the lengths of four cables, some cables may be slack when the platform is in static equilibrium. Therefore, in this paper, the tension state (tautness or slackness) of cables is considered in the forward kinematics model. We propose Traversal-Solving-Algorithm, which can indicate the tension state of cables, and further determine the pose of the platform, if the lengths of four cables are given. The effectiveness of the algorithm is verified by four examples. The results of this paper can be used to control sinking winches mechanism to achieve the level and stable motion of the platform, and to make the tension distribution of cables as uniform as possible.
