Deformations of Dimer Models

The combinatorial mutation of polygons, which transforms a given lattice polygon into another one, is an important operation to understand mirror partners for two-dimensional Fano manifolds, and the mutation-equivalent polygons give ${\mathbb Q}$-Gorenstein deformation-equivalent toric varieties. On the other hand, for a dimer model, which is a bipartite graph described on the real two-torus, one can assign a lattice polygon called the perfect matching polygon. It is known that for each lattice polygon $P$ there exists a dimer model having $P$ as the perfect matching polygon and satisfying certain consistency conditions. Moreover, a dimer model has rich information regarding toric geometry associated with the perfect matching polygon. In this paper, we introduce a set of operations which we call deformations of consistent dimer models, and show that the deformations of consistent dimer models realize the combinatorial mutations of the associated perfect matching polygons.

Lower bounds on Hilbert--Kunz multiplicities and maximal F-signatures

Hilbert-Kunz multiplicity and F-signature are numerical invariants of commutative rings in positive characteristic that measure severity of singularities: for a regular ring both invariants are equal to one and the converse holds under mild assumptions. A natural question is for what singular rings these invariants are closest to one. For Hilbert--Kunz multiplicity this question was first considered by the last two authors and attracted significant attention. In this paper, we study this question, i.e., an upper bound, for F-signature and revisit lower bounds on Hilbert--Kunz multiplicity.

On 2-representation infinite algebras arising from dimer models

The Jacobian algebra arising from a consistent dimer model is a bimodule $3$-Calabi-Yau algebra, and its center is a $3$-dimensional Gorenstein toric singularity. A perfect matching of a dimer model gives the degree making the Jacobian algebra $\mathbb{Z}$-graded. It is known that if the degree zero part of such an algebra is finite dimensional, then it is a $2$-representation infinite algebra which is a generalization of a representation infinite hereditary algebra. Internal perfect matchings, which correspond to toric exceptional divisors on a crepant resolution of a $3$-dimensional Gorenstein toric singularity, characterize the property that the degree zero part of the Jacobian algebra is finite dimensional. Combining this characterization with the theorems due to Amiot-Iyama-Reiten, we show that the stable category of graded maximal Cohen-Macaulay modules admits a tilting object for any $3$-dimensional Gorenstein toric isolated singularity. We then show that all internal perfect matchings corresponding to the same toric exceptional divisor are transformed into each other using the mutations of perfect matchings, and this induces derived equivalences of $2$-representation infinite algebras.

Generalized F-signatures of Hibi rings

The $F$-signature is a numerical invariant defined by the number of free direct summands in the Frobenius push-forward, and it measures singularities in positive characteristic. It can be generalized by focussing on the number of non-free direct summands. In this paper, we provide several methods to compute the (generalized) $F$-signature of a Hibi ring which is a special class of toric rings. In particular, we show that it can be computed by counting the elements in the symmetric group satisfying certain conditions. As an application, we also give the formula of the (generalized) $F$-signature for some Segre products of polynomial rings.

Remarks on divisorial ideals arising from dimer models

The Jacobian algebra $\mathsf{A}$ arising from a consistent dimer model is derived equivalent to crepant resolutions of a $3$-dimensional Gorenstein toric singularity $R$, and it is also called a non-commutative crepant resolution of $R$. This algebra $\mathsf{A}$ is a maximal Cohen-Macaulay (= MCM) module over $R$, and it is a finite direct sum of rank one MCM $R$-modules. In this paper, we observe a relationship between properties of a dimer model and those of MCM modules appearing in the decomposition of $\mathsf{A}$ as an $R$-module. More precisely, we take notice of isoradial dimer models and divisorial ideals which are called conic. Especially, we investigate them for the case of $3$-dimensional Gorenstein toric singularities associated with reflexive polygons.

Dual F-signature of Cohen-Macaulay modules over rational double points

The dual $F$-signature is a numerical invariant defined via the Frobenius morphism in positive characteristic. It is known that the dual $F$-signature characterizes some singularities. However, the value of the dual $F$-signature is not known except only a few cases. In this paper, we determine the dual $F$-signature of Cohen-Macaulay modules over two-dimensional rational double points. The method for determining the dual $F$-signature is also valid for determining the Hilbert-Kunz multiplicity. We discuss it in appendix.

Generalized F-signature of invariant subrings

It is known that a certain invariant subring $R$ has finite $F$-representation type. Thus, we can write the $R$-module ${}^eR$ as a finite direct sum of finitely many $R$-modules. In such a decomposition of ${}^eR$, we pay attention to the multiplicity of each direct summand. For the multiplicity of free direct summand, there is the notion of $F$-signature defined by C. Huneke and G. Leuschke and it characterizes some singularities. In this paper, we extend this notion to non free direct summands and determine the explicit values of them.
