Modeling Epidemic Dynamics of Mutant Strains with Evolutionary Game-based Vaccination Behavior

The outbreak of mutant strains and vaccination behaviors have been the focus of recent epidemiological research, but most existing epidemic models failed to simultaneously capture viral mutation and consider the complexity and behavioral dynamics of vaccination. To address this gap, we develop an extended SIRS model that distinguishes infections with the original strain and a mutant strain, and explicitly introduces a vaccinated compartment state. At the behavioral level, we employ evolutionary game theory to model individual vaccination decisions, where strategies are determined by both neighbors' choices and the current epidemiological situation. This process corresponds to the time-varying vaccination rate of susceptible individuals transitioning to vaccinated individuals at the epidemic spreading level. We then couple the epidemic and vaccination behavioral processes through the microscopic Markov chain approach (MMCA) and finally investigate the evolutionary dynamics via numerical simulations. The results show that our framework can effectively mitigate outbreaks across different disease scenarios. Sensitivity analysis further reveals that vaccination uptake is most strongly influenced by vaccine cost, efficacy, and perceived risk of side effects. Overall, this behavior-aware modeling framework captures the co-evolution of viral mutation and vaccination behavior, providing quantitative and theoretical support for designing effective public health vaccination policies.

STEP3-VL-10B Technical Report

We present STEP3-VL-10B, a lightweight open-source foundation model designed to redefine the trade-off between compact efficiency and frontier-level multimodal intelligence. STEP3-VL-10B is realized through two strategic shifts: first, a unified, fully unfrozen pre-training strategy on 1.2T multimodal tokens that integrates a language-aligned Perception Encoder with a Qwen3-8B decoder to establish intrinsic vision-language synergy; and second, a scaled post-training pipeline featuring over 1k iterations of reinforcement learning. Crucially, we implement Parallel Coordinated Reasoning (PaCoRe) to scale test-time compute, allocating resources to scalable perceptual reasoning that explores and synthesizes diverse visual hypotheses. Consequently, despite its compact 10B footprint, STEP3-VL-10B rivals or surpasses models 10$\times$-20$\times$ larger (e.g., GLM-4.6V-106B, Qwen3-VL-235B) and top-tier proprietary flagships like Gemini 2.5 Pro and Seed-1.5-VL. Delivering best-in-class performance, it records 92.2% on MMBench and 80.11% on MMMU, while excelling in complex reasoning with 94.43% on AIME2025 and 75.95% on MathVision. We release the full model suite to provide the community with a powerful, efficient, and reproducible baseline.

Eliminating the Electric Field Response in a Perovskite Heterojunction Solar Cell to Improve Operational Stability

Intrinsic and extrinsic ion migration is a very large threat to the operational stability of perovskite solar cells and is difficult to completely eliminate due to the low activation energy of ion migration and the existence of internal electric field. We propose a heterojunction route to help suppress ion migration, thus improving the operational stability of the cell from the perspective of eliminating the electric field response in the perovskite absorber. A heavily doped p-type (p+) thin layer semiconductor is introduced between the electron transporting layer (ETL) and perovskite absorber. The heterojunction charge depletion and electric field are limited to the ETL and p+ layers, while the perovskite absorber and hole transporting layer remain neutral. The p+ layer has a variety of candidate materials and is tolerant of defect density and carrier mobility, which makes this heterojunction route highly feasible and promising for use in practical applications.

Genetic Algorithm Optimized Support Vector Machine in NOMA-Based Satellite Networks with Imperfect CSI

With the help of a power-domain non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) scheme, satellite networks can simultaneously serve multiple users within limited time/spectrum resource block. However, the existence of channel estimation errors inevitably degrade the judgment on users' channel state information (CSI) accuracy, thus affecting the user pairing processing and suppressing the superiority of the NOMA scheme. Inspired by the advantages of machine learning (ML) algorithms, we propose an improved support vector machine (SVM) scheme to reduce the inappropriate user pairing risks and enhance the performance of NOMA based satellite networks with imperfect CSI. Particularly, a genetic algorithm (GA) is employed to optimize the regularization and kernel parameters of the SVM, which effectively improves the classification accuracy of the proposed scheme. Simulations are provided to demonstrate that the performance of the proposed method is better than that with random user paring strategy, especially in the scenario with a large number of users.

Coordination Engineering of Cu-Zn-Sn-S Aqueous Precursor for Efficient Kesterite Solar Cells

Aqueous precursors provide an alluring approach for low-cost and environmentally friendly production of earth-abundant Cu2ZnSn(S,Se)4 (CZTSSe) solar cells. The key is to find an appropriate molecular agent to prepare a stable solution and optimize the coordination structure to facilitate the subsequent crystallization process. Herein, we introduce thioglycolic acid, which possesses strong coordination (-SH) and hydrophilic (-COOH) groups, as the agent and use deprotonation to regulate the coordination competition within the aqueous solution. Ultimately, metal cations are adequately coordinated with thiolate anions, and carboxylate anions are released to become hydrated to form an ultrastable aqueous solution. These factors have contributed to achieving CZTSSe solar cells with efficiency of as high as 12.2% (a certified efficiency of 12.0%) and providing an extremely wide time window for precursor storage and usage. This work represents significant progress in the non-toxic solution fabrication of CZTSSe solar cells and holds great potential for the development of CZTSSe and other metal sulfide solar cells.

Anomalous valley polarization in monolayer MoSe2

Modern electronic devices heavily rely on the accurate control of charge and spin of electrons. The emergence of controllable valley degree of freedom brings new possibilities and presents a promising prospect towards valleytronics. Recently, valley excitation selected by chiral optical pumping has been observed in monolayer MoS2. In this work, we report polarized photoluminescence (PL) measurements for monolayer MoSe2, another member of the family of transition-metal-dichalcogenides (MX2), and observe drastic difference from the outcomes of MoS2. In particular, we identify a valley polarization (VP) up to 70% for B exciton, while that for A exciton is less than 3%. Besides, we also find a small but finite negative VP for A- trion. These results reveal several new intra- and inter-valley scattering processes which significantly affect valley polarization, hence provide new insights into exciton physics in monolayer MX2 and possible valleytronic applications.

Sparse Multipartite Graphs as Partition Universal for Graphs of Bounded-Degrees

For graphs $G$ and $H$, let $G\to (H,H)$ signify that any red/blue edge coloring of $G$ contains a monochromatic $H$ as a subgraph, and $\mathcal{H}(Δ,n)=\{H:|V(H)|=n,Δ(H)\le Δ\}$. For fixed $Δ$ and $n$, we say that $G$ is a partition universal graph for $\mathcal{H}(Δ,n)$ if $G\to (H,H)$ for every $H\in\mathcal{H}(Δ,n)$. In 1983, Chvátal, Rödl, Szemerédi and Trotter proved that for any $Δ\ge2$ there exists a constant $B$ such that, for any $n$, if $N\ge Bn$ then $K_N$ is partition universal for $\mathcal{H}(Δ,n)$. Recently, Kohayakawa, Rödl, Schacht and Szemerédi proved that the complete graph $K_N$ in above result can be replaced by sparse graphs. They obtained that for fixed $Δ\ge2$, there exist constants $B$ and $C$ such that if $N\ge Bn$ and $p=C(\log N/N)^{1/Δ}$, then {\bf a.a.s.} $G(N,p)$ is partition universal graph for $\mathcal{H}(Δ,n)$, where $G(N,p)$ is the standard random graph on $N$ vertices with $\mathbb{P}(e)=p$ for each edge $e$. From some results of Bollobás and Łuczak, we know that {\bf a.a.s.} $χ(G(N,p)) = Θ((N/\log N)^{1-1/Δ})$. In this paper, we shall show that the $G(N,p)$ in above result can be replaced by random multipartite graph. Let $K_{r}(N)$ be the complete $r$-partite graph with $N$ vertices in each part, and $G_r(N,p)$ the random spanning subgraph of $K_r(N)$, in which each edge appears with probability $p$. It is shown that for fixed $Δ\ge2$ there exist constants $r, B$ and $C$ depending only on $Δ$ such that if $N\ge Bn$ and $p=C(\log N/N)^{1/Δ}$, then {\bf a.a.s.} $G_r(N,p)$ is partition universal graph for $\mathcal{H}(Δ,n)$. The proof mainly uses the sparse multipartite regularity lemma.
