Color Image Edge Detection using Multi-scale and Multi-directional Gabor filter

In this paper, a color edge detection method is proposed where the multi-scale Gabor filter are used to obtain edges from input color images. The main advantage of the proposed method is that high edge detection accuracy is attained while maintaining good noise robustness. The proposed method consists of three aspects: First, the RGB color image is converted to CIE L*a*b* space because of its wide coloring area and uniform color distribution. Second, a set of Gabor filters are used to smooth the input images and the color edge strength maps are extracted, which are fused into a new ESM with the noise robustness and accurate edge extraction. Third, Embedding the fused ESM in the route of the Canny detector yields a noise-robust color edge detector. The results show that the proposed detector has the better experience in detection accuracy and noise-robustness.

Dynamic Programming Principle for Backward Doubly Stochastic Recursive Optimal Control Problem and Sobolev Weak Solution of The Stochastic Hamilton-Bellman Equation

In this paper, we study backward doubly stochastic recursive optimal control problem where the cost function is described by the solution of a backward doubly stochastic differential equation. We give the dynamical programming principle for this kind of optimal control problem and show that the value function is the unique Sobolev weak solution for the corresponding stochastic Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman equation.

Implementation of a double-path multimode interferometer using a spinor Bose-Einstein condensate

We realize a double-path multimode matter wave interferometer with spinor Bose-Einstein condensate and observe clear spatial interference fringes as well as a periodic change of the visibility in the time domain, which we refer to as the time domain interference and which is different from the traditional double-path interferometer. By changing the relative phase of the two paths, we find that the spatial fringes first lose coherence and recover. As the number of modes increases, the time domain interference signal with the narrower peaks is observed, which is beneficial to the improvement of the resolution of the phase measurement. We also investigated the influence of initial phase configuration and phase evolution rate between different modes in the two paths. With enhanced resolution, the sensitivity of interferometric measurements of physical observables can also be improved by properly assigning measurable quantities to the relative phase between two paths.
