Baryonic $B$ meson decays

We review the two and three-body baryonic $B$ decays with the dibaryon (${\bf B\bar B'}$) as the final states. Accordingly, we summarize the experimental data of the branching fractions, angular asymmetries, and $CP$ asymmetries. Using the $W$-boson annihilation (exchange) mechanism, the branching fractions of $B\to {\bf B \bf \bar B'}$ are shown to be interpretable. In the approach of perturbative QCD counting rules, we study the three-body decay channels. In particular, we review the $CP$ asymmetries of $B\to {\bf B\bar B'}M$, which are promising to be measured by the LHCb and Belle~II experiments. Finally, we remark the theoretical challenges in interpreting ${\cal B}(B^-\to p\bar pρ^-)$ and ${\cal B}(B^-\to p\bar pμ^-\bar ν_μ)$.

Fragmentation fraction $f_{Ω_b}$ and the $Ω_b\to ΩJ/ψ$ decay in the light-front formalism

One has measured $f_{Ω_b}{\cal B}(Ω_b^-\to Ω^- J/Ψ)$ at the level of $10^{-6}$, where the fragmentation faction $f_{Ω_b}$ is to evaluate the $b$-quark to $Ω_b^-$ production rate. Using the $Ω_b\to Ω$ transition form factors calculated in the light-front quark model, we predict ${\cal B}(Ω_b^-\to Ω^- J/Ψ) =(5.3^{+3.3+3.8}_{-2.1-2.7})\times 10^{-4}$. In particular, we extract $f_{Ω_b}=(0.54^{+0.34+0.39+0.21}_{-0.22-0.28-0.15})\times 10^{-2}$, demonstrating that the $b$ to $Ω_b$ productions are much more difficult than the $b$ to $Λ_b(Ξ_b)$ ones. Since $f_{Ω_b}$ has not been determined experimentally, $f_{Ω_b}$ added to theoretical branching fractions can be compared to future measurements of the $Ω_b$ decays.

Study of the $D_s^+\to a_0(980) ρ$ and $a_0(980) ω$ decays

We study $D_{s}^{+}\toρ^{0(+)}a^{+(0)}_{0}$, $D_{s}^{+}\toωa^{+}_{0}$, and the resonant $D_{s}^{+}\toρa_0$,$a_{0}\to ηπ(KK)$ decays. In the final state interaction, where $D_s^+\to (η^{(\prime)}π^+,K^+\bar K^0)$ are followed by the $(η^{(\prime)}π^+,K^+\bar K^0)$ to $ρ^{0(+)}a^{+(0)}_{0}$ rescatterings, we predict ${\cal B}(D_{s}^{+}\toρ^{0(+)}a^{+(0)}_{0})=(3.0\pm 0.3\pm 1.0)\times 10^{-3}$. Due to the cancellation of the rescattering effects and the suppressed short-distance $W$ annihilation contribution, we expect that ${\cal B}(D_{s}^{+}\toωa^{+}_{0}) \simeq {\cal B}(D_s^+\toπ^+π^0)<3.4\times 10^{-4}$. In our calculation, ${\cal B}(D_{s}^{+}\toρ^{0}(a^{+}_{0}\to)ηπ^{+}) =(1.6^{+0.2}_{-0.3}\pm 0.6)\times 10^{-3}$ agrees with the data, whereas ${\cal B}(D_{s}^{+}\toρ^{+}(a^{0}_{0}\to)K^+K^-)$ is 10 times smaller than the observation, which requires a careful examination.

A global $SU(3)/U(3)$ flavor symmetry analysis for $B\to PP$ with $η-η'$ Mixing

A large number of new experimental data on $B$ decay into two light pesudoscalar ($P$) mesons have been collected by the LHCb collaboration. Besides confirming information on $B_{u,d} \to PP$ decays obtained earlier by B-factories at KEK and SLAC, new information on $B_s\to PP$ and also more decay modes with $P$ being $η$ or $η'$ have been obtained. Using these new data, we perform a global fit for $B \to PP$ to determine decay amplitudes in the framework of $SU(3)/U(3)$ flavor symmetry. We find that $SU(3)$ flavor symmetry can explain data well. The annihilation amplitudes are found to be small as expected. Several CP violating relations predicted by $SU(3)$ flavor symmetry are in good agreement with data. Current available data can give constraints on the amplitudes which induce $P = η,\;η'$ decays in the framework of $U(3)$ flavor symmetry, and can also determine the $η-η'$ mixing angle $θ$ with $θ= (-18.4\pm1.2)^\circ$. Several $B \to PP$ decay modes which have not been measured are predicted with branching ratios accessible at the LHCb. These decays can provide further tests for the framework of $SU(3)/U(3)$ flavor symmetry for $B$ decays.

Longitudinal Weak Gauge Bosons Scattering in Hidden Z' Models

Longitudinal weak gauge boson scattering has been well known as a powerful method to probe the underlying mechanism of the electroweak symmetry breaking sector of the Standard Model. We point out that longitudinal weak gauge boson scattering is also sensitive to the gauge sector when the non-Abelian trilinear and quartic couplings of the Standard Model Z boson are modified due to the general mixings with another Z' boson in the hidden sector and possibly with the photon as well. In particular, these mixings can lead to a partially strong scattering effect in the channels of W^\pm_L W^\pm_L \to W^\pm_L W^\pm_L and W^\pm_L W^\mp_L \to W^\pm_L W^\mp_L which can be probed at the Large Hadron Collider. We study this effect in a simple U(1) extension of the Standard Model recently suggested in the literature that includes both the symmetry breaking Higgs mechanism as well as the gauge invariant Stueckelberg mass terms for the two Abelian groups. Other types of Z' models are also briefly discussed.

$B \to η(η') K(π)$ in the Standard Model with Flavor Symmetry

The observed branching ratios for $B\to K η'$ decays are much larger than factorization predictions in the Standard Model (SM). Many proposals have been made to reconcile the data and theoretical predictions. In this paper we study these decays within the SM using flavor U(3) symmetry. If small annihilation amplitudes are neglected, one needs 11 hadronic parameters to describe $B\to PP$ decays where $P$ can be one of the $π$, $K$, $η$ and $η'$ nonet mesons. We find that existing data are consistent with SM with flavor U(3) symmetry. We also predict several measurable branching ratios and CP asymmetries for $B \to K (π) η(η')$, $η(η')η(η')$ decays. Near future experiments can provide important tests for the Standard Model with flavor U(3) symmetry.

CP violation in $B \to PP$ in the SM with SU(3) symmetry

In this paper we study CP violation in $B\to PP$ decays in the Standard Model using SU(3) flavor symmetry. With SU(3) symmetry only seven hadronic parameters are needed to describe $B\to PP$ decays in the SM when annihilation contributions are neglected. The relevant hadronic parameters can be determined using known experimental data from $B\to ππ$ and $B\to K π$. We predict branching ratios and CP asymmetries for some of the unmeasured $B \to PP$ decays. Some of the CP asymmetries can be large and measured at B factories. The effects of annihilation contributions can also be studied using present experimental data. Inclusion of annihilation contributions introduces six more hadronic parameters. We find that annihilation contributions are in general small, but can have significant effects on CP asymmetries and some $B_s \to PP$.
