Homogeneous spaces with geodesic orbit Riemannian metrics and with integrable invariant distributions

We consider homogeneous spaces of Lie groups with compact stabilizer subgroups of two types: those with integrable invariant distributions and those with geodesic orbit invariant Riemannian metrics. The latter means that for an arbitrary invariant Riemannian metric on the space, every geodesic is an orbit of a 1-parameter subgroup of the isometry group. We found several homogeneous spaces of the first type that are not spaces of the second type. Among them there are several homogeneous spaces that admit invariant Einstein metrics.

Spectral properties of Killing vector fields of constant length

This paper is devoted to the study of properties of Killing vector fields of constant length on Riemannian manifolds. If $\mathfrak{g}$ is a Lie algebra of Killing vector fields on a given Riemannian manifold $(M,g)$, and $X\in \mathfrak{g}$ has constant length on $(M,g)$, then we prove that the linear operator $\operatorname{ad}(X):\mathfrak{g} \rightarrow \mathfrak{g}$ has a pure imaginary spectrum. More detailed structure results on the corresponding operator $\operatorname{ad}(X)$ are obtained. Some special examples of vector fields of constant length are constructed.

On left-invariant Einstein Riemannian metrics that are not geodesic orbit

In this paper we prove that the compact Lie group $G_2$ admits a left-invariant Einstein metric that is not geodesic orbit. In order to prove the required assertion, we develop some special tools for geodesic orbit Riemannian manifolds. It should be noted that a suitable metric is discovered in a recent paper by I. Chrysikos and Y. Sakane, where the authors proved also that this metric is not naturally reductive.

The evolution of positively curved invariant Riemannian metrics on the Wallach spaces under the Ricci flow

This paper is devoted to the study of the evolution of positively curved metrics on the Wallach spaces $SU(3)/T_{\max}$, $Sp(3)/Sp(1)\times Sp(1)\times Sp(1)$, and $F_4/Spin(8)$. We prove that for all Wallach spaces, the normalized Ricci flow evolves all generic invariant Riemannian metrics with positive sectional curvature into metrics with mixed sectional curvature. Moreover, we prove that for the spaces $Sp(3)/Sp(1)\times Sp(1)\times Sp(1)$ and $F_4/Spin(8)$, the normalized Ricci flow evolves all generic invariant Riemannian metrics with positive Ricci curvature into metrics with mixed Ricci curvature. We also get similar results for some more general homogeneous spaces.

The Ricci flow on generalized Wallach spaces

We consider the asymptotic behavior of the normalized Ricci flow on generalized Wallach spaces that could be considered as special planar dynamical systems. All non symmetric generalized Wallach spaces can be naturally parametrized by three positive numbers $a_1, a_2, a_3$. Our interest is to determine the type of singularity of all singular points of the normalized Ricci flow on all such spaces. Our main result gives a qualitative answer for almost all points $(a_1,a_2,a_3)$ in the cube $(0,1/2]\times (0,1/2]\times (0,1/2]$.

Geodesic orbit manifolds and Killing fields of constant length

The goal of this paper is to clarify connections between Killing fields of constant length on a Rimannian geodesic orbit manifold $(M,g)$ and the structure of its full isometry group. The Lie algebra of the full isometry group of $(M,g)$ is identified with the Lie algebra of Killing fields $\mathfrak{g}$ on $(M,g)$. We prove the following result: If $\mathfrak{a}$ is an abelian ideal of $\mathfrak{g}$, then every Killing field $X\in \mathfrak{a}$ has constant length. On the ground of this assertion we give a new proof of one result of C. Gordon: Every Riemannian geodesic orbit manifold of nonpositive Ricci curvature is a symmetric space.

Invariant Einstein metrics on some homogeneous spaces of classical Lie groups

A Riemannian manifold $(M,ρ)$ is called Einstein if the metric $ρ$ satisfies the condition $\Ric (ρ)=c\cdot ρ$ for some constant $c$. This paper is devoted to the investigation of $G$-invariant Einstein metrics with additional symmetries, on some homogeneous spaces $G/H$ of classical groups. As a consequence, we obtain new invariant Einstein metrics on some Stiefel manifolds $SO(n)/SO(l)$, and on the symplectic analogues $Sp(n)/Sp(l)$. Furthermore, we show that for any positive integer $p$ there exists a Stiefel manifold $SO(n)/SO(l)$ and a homogenous space $Sp(n)/Sp(l)$ which admit at least $p$ SO(n) (resp. $Sp(n)$)-invariant Einstein metrics.
