An Explicit Kaluza-Klein Reduction of Einstein's Gravity in 6D6D on S2S^2

We study a six-dimensional Kaluza-Klein theory with spacetime topology M4×S2M_4 \times S^2 and analyze the gauge sector arising from dimensional reduction. Using normalized Killing vectors on S2S^2, we explicitly construct the reduced Yang-Mills action and determine the corresponding gauge kinetic matrix. Despite the SO(3)SO(3) isometry of S2S^2, we show that only two physical gauge fields propagate in four dimensions. The gauge kinetic matrix therefore has rank two and possesses a single zero eigenvalue. We demonstrate that this degeneracy is a direct consequence of the coset structure S2≃SO(3)/SO(2)S^2 \simeq SO(3)/SO(2) and reflects a non-dynamical gauge direction rather than an inconsistency of the reduction. Our results clarify the geometric origin of gauge degrees of freedom in Kaluza-Klein reductions on coset spaces.

A non-minimally coupled, conformally extended Einstein-Maxwell theory of pp-waves

A non-minimal coupling of Weyl curvatures to electromagnetic fields is considered in Brans-Dicke-Maxwell theory. The gravitational field equations are formulated in a Riemannian spacetime where the spacetime torsion is constrained to zero by the method of Lagrange multipliers in the language of exterior differential forms. The significance and ramifications of non-minimal couplings to gravity are examined in a pp-wave spacetime.

Gravitational Plane Waves in a Non-Riemannian Description of Brans-Dicke Gravity

The variational field equations of Brans-Dicke scalar-tensor theory of gravitation are given in a non-Riemannian setting in the language of exterior differential forms over 4-dimensional spacetime. The class of pp-wave metrics together with the Brans-Dicke scalar field are used to derive the geodesic and autoparallel equations of motion for non-spinning test masses in Brinkmann and Rosen coordinates. The effects of the gradient of the scalar field on the auto-parallel equations of motion and Jacobi deviation equation are discussed.

The Atmosphere of a Black Hole

We present a static, isotropic fluid solution around a black hole and its effects on the field equations and the horizon. We offer the solutions, their descriptions and we comment on their shortcomings. We derive from the proposed metric the density, the pressure, the equation of state, the temperature near and far of the black hole and the equation of state parameter. We show that for a special case, when r→ 0r\rightarrow\ 0 the solution behaves as p=ρ3p=\fracρ{3}, the equation of state for radiation and for r→∞r\rightarrow\infty we observe that p=0p=0, the equation of state for dust.
