Dimension approximation in smooth dynamical systems

For a non-conformal repeller ΛΛ of a C1+αC^{1+α} map ff preserving an ergodic measure μμ of positive entropy, this paper shows that the Lyapunov dimension of μμ can be approximated gradually by the Carathéodory singular dimension of a sequence of horseshoes. For a C1+αC^{1+α} diffeomorphism ff preserving a hyperbolic ergodic measure μμ of positive entropy, if (f,μ)(f, μ) has only two Lyapunov exponents λu(μ)>0>λs(μ)λ_u(μ)>0>λ_s(μ), then the Hausdorff or lower box or upper box dimension of μμ can be approximated by the corresponding dimension of the horseshoes {Λn}\{Λ_n\}. The same statement holds true if ff is a C1C^1 diffeomorphism with a dominated Oseledet's splitting with respect to μμ.

Dimension approximation for diffeomorphisms preserving hyperbolic SRB measures

For a C^{1+α} diffeomorphism f preserving a hyperbolic ergodic SRB measure μ, Katok's remarkable results assert that μcan be approximated by a sequence of hyperbolic sets \{Λ_n\}_{n\geq1}. In this paper, we prove the Hausdorff dimension for Λ_n on the unstable manifold tends to the dimension of the unstable manifold. Furthermore, if the stable direction is one dimension, then the Hausdorff dimension of μcan be approximated by the Hausdorff dimension of Λ_n. To establish these results, we utilize the u-Gibbs property of the conditional measure of the equilibrium measure of -ψ^{s}(\cdot,f^n) and the properties of the uniformly hyperbolic dynamical systems.

Statistical stability for diffeomorphisms with mostly expanding and mostly contracting centers

For partially hyperbolic diffeomorphisms with mostly expanding and mostly contracting centers, we establish a topological structure, called skeleton{a set consisting of finitely many hyperbolic periodic points with maximal cardinality for which there exist no heteroclinic intersections. We build the one-to-one corresponding between periodic points in any skeleton and physical measures. By making perturbations on skeletons, we study the continuity of physical measures with respect to dynamics under C1C^1-topology.

Nonadditive Measure-theoretic Pressure and Applications to Dimensions of an Ergodic Measure

Without any additional conditions on subadditive potentials, this paper defines subadditive measure-theoretic pressure, and shows that the subadditive measure-theoretic pressure for ergodic measures can be described in terms of measure-theoretic entropy and a constant associated with the ergodic measure. Based on the definition of topological pressure on non-compact set, we give another equivalent definition of subadditive measure-theoretic pressure, and obtain an inverse variational principle. This paper also studies the supadditive measure-theoretic pressure which has similar formalism as the subadditive measure-theoretic pressure. As an application of the main results, we prove that an average conformal repeller admits an ergodic measure of maximal Haudorff dimension. Furthermore, for each ergodic measure supported on an average conformal repeller, we construct a set whose dimension is equal to the dimension of the measure.

The boundary of hyperbolicity for Henon-like families

We consider C^{2} Henon-like families of diffeomorphisms of R^{2} and study the boundary of the region of parameter values for which the nonwandering set is uniformly hyperbolic. Assuming sufficient dissipativity, we show that the loss of hyperbolicity is caused by a first homoclinic or heteroclinic tangency and that uniform hyperbolicity estimates hold uniformly in the parameter up to this bifurcation parameter and even, to some extent, at the bifurcation parameter.
