Almost-Exact Simulation Scheme for Heston-type Models: Bermudan and American Option Pricing

Recently, an Almost-Exact Simulation (AES) scheme was introduced for the Heston stochastic volatility model and tested for European option pricing. This paper extends this scheme for pricing Bermudan and American options under both Heston and double Heston models. The AES improves Monte Carlo simulation efficiency by using the non-central chi-square distribution for the variance process. We derive the AES scheme for the double Heston model and compare the performance of the AES schemes under both models with the Euler scheme. Our numerical experiments validate the effectiveness of the AES scheme in providing accurate option prices with reduced computational time, highlighting its robustness for both models. In particular, the AES achieves higher accuracy and computational efficiency when the number of simulation steps matches the exercise dates for Bermudan options.

External Human-Machine Interface based on Intent Recognition: Framework Design and Experimental Validation

Increasing autonomous vehicles (AVs) in transportation systems makes effective interactions between AVs and pedestrians indispensable. External human--machine interface (eHMI), which employs visual or auditory cues to explicitly convey vehicle behaviors can compensate for the loss of human-like interactions and enhance AV--pedestrian cooperation. To facilitate faster intent convergence between pedestrian and AVs, this study incorporates an adaptive interaction mechanism into eHMI based on pedestrian intent recognition, namely IR-eHMI. IR-eHMI dynamically detects and infers the behavioral intentions of both pedestrians and AVs through identifying their cooperation states. The proposed interaction framework is implemented and evaluated on a virtual reality (VR) experimental platform to demonstrate its effectiveness through statistical analysis. Experimental results show that IR-eHMI significantly improves crossing efficiency, reduces gaze distraction while maintaining interaction safety compared to traditional fixed-distance eHMI. This adaptive and explicit interaction mode introduces an innovative procedural paradigm for AV--pedestrian cooperation.

Constructing Trinomial Models Based on Cubature Method on Wiener Space: Applications to Pricing Financial Derivatives

This contribution deals with an extension to our developed novel cubature methods of degrees 5 on Wiener space. In our previous studies, we have shown that the cubature formula is exact for all multiple Stratonovich integrals up to dimension equal to the degree. In fact, cubature method reduces solving a stochastic differential equation to solving a finite set of ordinary differential equations. Now, we apply the above methods to construct trinomial models and to price different financial derivatives. We will compare our numerical solutions with the Black's and Black--Scholes models' analytical solutions. The constructed model has practical usage in pricing American-style derivatives and can be extended to more sophisticated stochastic market models.
