Neural Network Statistical Mechanics

We propose a general framework to extract microscopic interactions from raw configurations with deep neural networks. The approach replaces the modeling Hamiltonian by the neural networks, in which the interaction is encoded. It can be trained with data collected from Ab initio computations or experiments. The well-trained neural networks give an accurate estimation of the possibility distribution of the configurations at fixed external parameters. It can be spontaneously extrapolated to detect the phase structures since classical statistical mechanics as prior knowledge here. We apply the approach to a 2D spin system, training at a fixed temperature, and reproducing the phase structure. Scaling the configuration on lattice exhibits the interaction changes with the degree of freedom, which can be naturally applied to the experimental measurements. Our approach bridges the gap between the real configurations and the microscopic dynamics with an autoregressive neural network.

Pairing Phase Transitions of Matter under Rotation

The phases and properties of matter under global rotation have attracted much interest recently. In this paper we investigate the pairing phenomena in a system of fermions under the presence of rotation. We find that there is a generic suppression effect on pairing states with zero angular momentum. We demonstrate this effect with the chiral condensation and the color superconductivity in hot dense QCD matter as explicit examples. In the case of chiral condensation, a new phase diagram in the temperature-rotation parameter space is found, with a nontrivial critical point.

Chiral electric separation effect in the quark-gluon plasma

In this paper we introduce and compute a new transport coefficient for the quark-gluon plasma (QGP) at very high temperature. This new coefficient $σ_{χe}$, the CESE (Chiral Electric Separation Effect) conductivity, quantifies the amount of axial current $\vec J_A$ that is generated in response to an externally applied electric field $e\vec E$: $\vec J_A = σ_{χe} (e\vec E)$. Starting with rather general argument in the kinetic theory framework, we show how a characteristic structure $σ_{χe}\propto μμ_5$ emerges, which also indicates the CESE as an anomalous transport effect occurring only in a parity-odd environment with nonzero axial charge density $μ_5\neq 0$. Using the Hard-Thermal-Loop framework the CESE conductivity for the QGP is found to be $σ_{χe} = (\#) T\frac{{\rm Tr}_{\rm f}Q_eQ_A}{g^4\ln(1/g)} \frac{μμ_5}{T^2}$ to the leading-log accuracy with the numerical constant (#) depending on favor content, e.g. (#)$=14.5163$ for $u,d$ light flavors.

Chiral vortical wave and induced flavor charge transport in a rotating quark-gluon plasma

We show the existence of a new gapless collective excitation in a rotating fluid system with chiral fermions, named as the Chiral Vortical Wave (CVW). The CVW has its microscopic origin at the quantum anomaly and macroscopically arises from interplay between vector and axial charge fluctuations induced by vortical effects. The wave equation is obtained both from hydrodynamic current equations and from chiral kinetic theory and its solutions show nontrivial CVW-induced charge transport from different initial conditions. Using the rotating quark-gluon plasma in heavy ion collisions as a concrete example, we show the formation of induced flavor quadrupole in QGP and estimate the elliptic flow splitting effect for Lambda baryons that may be experimentally measured.

Gluon Transport Equation with Effective Mass and Dynamical Onset of Bose-Einstein Condensation

We study the transport equation describing a dense system of gluons, in the small scattering angle approximation, taking into account medium-generated effective masses of the gluons. We focus on the case of overpopulated systems that are driven to Bose-Einstein condensation on their way to thermalization. The presence of a mass modifies the dispersion relation of the gluon, as compared to the massless case, but it is shown that this does not change qualitatively the scaling behavior in the vicinity of the onset.

Topological Susceptibility in Three-Flavor Quark Meson Model at Finite Temperature

We study $U_A(1)$ symmetry and its relation to chiral symmetry at finite temperature through the application of functional renormalization group to the $SU(3)$ quark meson model. Very different from the mass gap and mixing angel between $η$ and $η'$ mesons which are defined at mean field level and behavior like the chiral condensates, the topological susceptibility includes a fluctuations induced part which becomes dominant at high temperature. As a result, the $U_A(1)$ symmetry is still considerably broken in the chiral symmetry restoration phase.

Functional Renormalization for Chiral and U_A(1) Symmetries at Finite Temperature

We investigated the chiral symmetry and U_A(1) anomaly at finite temperature by applying the functional renormalization group to the SU(3) linear sigma model. Expanding the local potential around the classical fields, we derived the flow equations for the renormalization parameters. In chiral limit, the flow equation for the chiral condensate is decoupled from the others and can be analytically solved. The Goldstone theorem is guaranteed in vacuum and at finite temperature, and the two phase transitions for the chiral and U_A(1) symmetry restoration happen at the same critical temperature. In general case with explicit chiral symmetry breaking, the two symmetries are partially and slowly restored, and the scalar and pseudoscalar meson masses are controlled by the restoration in the limit of high temperature.

Can the Reissner-Nordström black hole or Schwarzschild black hole be the stable Planck-scale particle accelerator?

It is shown that the extremal Reissner-Nordström black hole, the non-extremal one with multiple scattering particles, and the Schwarzschild black hole with radial head-on particles are stable under the collision of the particles near the horizon, if the back-reaction effect and the effect generated by gravity of particles are involved. Moreover, the collision near Reissner-Nordström black holes with astrophysically typical mass can not generate the Planck-scale center-of-mass energy. However, the head-on collision near the typical primordial black hole could just occur at the Planck-energy scale.

Meson Screening Mass in a Strongly Coupled Pion Superfluid

We calculate the meson screening mass in a pion superfluid in the framework of Nambu--Jona-Lasinio model. The minimum of the attractive quark potential is always located at the phase boundary of pion superfluid. Different from the temperature and baryon density effect, the potential at finite isospin density can not be efficiently suppressed and the matter is always in a strongly coupled phase due to the Goldstone mode in the pion superfluid.

Quark and Gluon Condensates in Isospin Matter

Applying the Hellmann-Feynman theorem to a charged pion gas, the quark and gluon condensates at low isospin density are determined by precise pion properties. At intermediate density around $ f_π^2m_π$, from both the estimation for the dilute pion gas and the calculation with Nambu--Jona-Lasinio model, the quark condensate is strongly and monotonously suppressed, while the gluon condensate is enhanced and can be larger than its vacuum value. This unusual behavior of the gluon condensate is universal for Bose condensed matter of mesons. Our results can be tested by lattice calculations at finite isospin density.
