G2 monopoles

We investigate some aspects of Bogomolny-Prasad-Sommerfield monopole solutions in the Yang-Mills-Higgs theory with exceptional gauge group $G_2$ spontaneously broken to $U(1)\times U(1)$. Corresponding homotopy group is $π_2\left(G_2/U(1)\times U(1)\right)$ and similar to the $SU(3)$ theory, the $G_2$ monopoles are classified by two topological charges $(n_1,n_2)$. In fundamental representation these yield a subset of $SO(7)$ monopole configurations. Through inspection of the structure of $Alg(G_2)$, we propose an extension of the Nahm construction to the $(n,1)_{G_2}$ monopoles. For $(1,1)_{G_2}$ monopole the Nahm data are written explicitly.

Sphaleron solutions of the Skyrme model from Yang-Mills holonomy

We discuss how an approximation to the axially symmetric sphalerons in the Skyrme model can be constructed from the holonomy of a non-BPS Yang-Mills calorons. These configurations, both in the Skyrme model and in the Euclidean Yang-Mills theory, are characterized by two integers n and m, where n are the winding numbers of the constituents and the second integer m defines type of the solution, it has zero topological charge for even m and for odd values of m the corresponding chain has total topological charge n. It is found numerically that the holonomy of the chains of interpolating calorons--anticalorons provides a reasonably good approximation to the corresponding Skyrmion--antiSkyrmion chains when the topological charge of the Skyrmion constitutents is two times more than the Chern-Pontryagin index of the caloron.

Q-vortices, Q-walls and coupled Q-balls

We discuss three different globally regular non-topological stationary soliton solutions in the theory of a complex scalar field in 3+1 dimensions, so-called Q-balls, Q-vortices and Q-walls. The charge, energy and profiles of the corresponding solutions are presented for each configuration studied. The numerical investigation of these three types of solutions shows different behavior of charge and energy with changing frequency for each type. We investigate properties of new families of coupled non-topological 2-Q-ball solutions obtained within the same model by generalization of the ansatz for the scalar field which includes an independent phase. New composite solutions for another known model, which describes two Q-balls minimally interacting via a coupling term, are discussed briefly.
