Constraints on the generalized natural inflation after Planck 2018

Based on the dynamics of single scalar field slow-roll inflation and the theory of reheating, we investigate the generalized natural inflationary (GNI) model. Concretely, we give constraints on the scalar spectral index $n_{s}$ and tensor-to scalar ratio $r$ for $Λ$CDM $+r$ model according to the latest data from Plack 2018 TT,TE,EE+lowE+lensing (P18) and BICEP2/Keck 2015 season (BK15), i.e., $n_{s}=0.9659\pm0.0044$ at $68\%$ confidence level (CL) and $r<0.0623$ at $95\%$CL. We find that the GNI model is favored by P18 plus BK15 in the ranges of $\log_{10}(f/M_{p})=0.62^{+0.17}_{-0.18}$ and $m=0.35^{+0.13}_{-0.23}$ at $68\%$CL. In addition, the corresponding predictions of the general and two-phase reheating are respectively discussed. It follows that the parameter $m$ has the significant effect on the model behaviors.

Holographic $s$-wave superconductors with conformal anomaly correction

We build a holographic $s$-wave conductor/superconductor model and an insulator/superconductor model in the four-dimensional conformal anomaly corrected~(CAC) AdS gravity. The effects of CAC parameter $α$ are studied using both numerical and analytical methods in the probe approximation. Concretely, when the CAC parameter increases, the critical temperature increases for the conductor/superconductor phase transition, while the critical chemical potential decreases for the insulator/superconductor case, which suggests that the increasing CAC parameter enhances both superconducting phase transitions. Meanwhile, below the critical temperature or beyond the critical chemical potential, the scalar hair begins to condense, and the condensed phases are found to be thermodynamically stable. The critical behaviors obtained from numerics are confirmed by our analytical analysis. For the parameters we are considering, the energy gap in the conductor/superconductor model decreases monotonically by increasing the CAC parameter, while for the insulator/superconductor model the energy of quasiparticle excitations decreases with the CAC parameter.

Holographic paramagnetism-ferromagnetism phase transition with the nonlinear electrodynamics

In the probe limit, we investigate the nonlinear electrodynamical effects of the both exponential form and the logarithmic form on the holographic paramagnetism-ferromagnetism phase transition in the background of a Schwarzschild-AdS black hole spacetime. Moreover, by comparing the exponential form of nonlinear electrodynamics with the logarithmic form of nonlinear electrodynamics and the Born-Infeld nonlinear electrodynamics which has been presented in Ref.~\cite{Wu:2016uyj}, we find that the higher nonlinear electrodynamics correction makes the critical temperature smaller and the magnetic moment harder form in the case without external field. Furthermore, the increase of nonlinear parameter b will result in extending the period of the external magnetic field. Especially, the effect of the exponential form of nonlinear electrodynamics on the periodicity of hysteresis loop is more noticeable.

Lifshitz scaling effects on holographic paramagnetism/ferromagneism phase transition

In the probe limit, we investigate holographic paramagnetism-ferromagnetism phase transition in the four-dimensional (4D) and five-dimensional(5D) Lifshitz black holes by means of numerical and semi-analytical methods, which is realized by introducing a massive 2-form field coupled to the Maxwell field. We find that the Lifshitz dynamical exponent $z$ contributes evidently to magnetic moment and hysteresis loop of single magnetic domain quantitatively not qualitatively. Concretely, in the case without external magnetic field, the spontaneous magnetization and ferromagnetic phase transition happen when the temperature gets low enough, and the critical exponent for the magnetic moment is always $1/2$, which is in agreement with the result from mean field theory. And the increasing $z$ enhances the phase transition and increases the DC resistivity which behaves as the colossal magnetic resistance effect in some materials. Furthermore, in the presence of the external magnetic field, the magnetic susceptibility satisfies the Cure-Weiss law with a general $z$. But the increase of $z$ will result in shortening the period of the external magnetic field.

Cosmological evolution of generalized non-local gravity

We construct a class of generalized non-local gravity (GNLG) model which is the modified theory of general relativity (GR) obtained by adding a term $m^{2n-2} R\Box^{-n}R$ to the Einstein-Hilbert action. Concretely, we not only study the gravitational equation for the GNLG model by introducing auxiliary scalar fields, but also analyse the classical stability and examine the cosmological consequences of the model for different exponent $n$. We find that the half of the scalar fields are always ghost-like and the exponent $n$ must be taken even number for a stable GNLG model. Meanwhile, the model spontaneously generates three dominant phases of the evolution of the universe, and the equation of state parameters turn out to be phantom-like. Furthermore, we clarify in another way that exponent $n$ should be even numbers by discuss the spherically symmetric static solutions in Newtonian gauge. It is worth stressing that the results given by us can include ones in refs. [28, 34] as the special case of $n=2$.

Massive $2$-form field and holographic ferromagnetic phase transition

In this paper, we investigate in some detail the holographic ferromagnetic phase transition in an AdS${_4}$ black brane background by introducing a massive 2-form field coupled to the Maxwell field strength in the bulk. In the two probe limits, one is to neglect the back reaction of the 2-form field to the background geometry and to the Maxwell field, and the other to neglect the back reaction of both the Maxwell field and the 2-form field, we find that the spontaneous magnetization and the ferromagnetic phase transition always happen when the temperature gets low enough with similar critical behavior. We calculate the DC resistivity in a semi-analytical method in the second probe limit and find it behaves as the colossal magnetic resistance effect in some materials. In the case with the first probe limit, we obtain the off-shell free energy of the holographic model near the critical temperature and compare with the Ising-like model. We also study the back reaction effect and find that the phase transition is always second order. In addition, we find an analytical Reissner-Norström-like black brane solution in the Einstein-Maxwell-2-form field theory with a negative cosmological constant.

A holographic p-wave superfluid

In the probe limit, we numerically construct a holographic p-wave superfluid model in the 4D and 5D AdS black holes coupled to a Maxwell-complex vector field. We find that, for the condensate with the fixed superfluid velocity, the results are similar to the s-wave cases in both 4D and 5D spacetimes. In particular, "The Cave of Winds" and the phase transition always being the second order take place in the 5D case. Moreover, we find the second-first order translating point $\frac{S_y}μ$ increases with the mass squared. Furthermore, for the supercurrent with the fixed temperature, the results agree with the GL prediction near the critical temperature. In addition, this complex vector superfluid model is still a generalization of the SU(2) superfluid model, and also provides a holographic realization of the $He_3$ superfluid system.

Five-dimensional generalized $f(R)$ gravity with curvature-matter coupling

The generalized $f(R)$ gravity with curvature-matter coupling in five-dimensional (5D) spacetime can be established by assuming a hypersurface-orthogonal spacelike Killing vector field of 5D spacetime, and it can be reduced to the 4D formulism of FRW universe. This theory is quite general and can give the corresponding results to the Einstein gravity, $f(R)$ gravity with both no-coupling and non-minimal coupling in 5D spacetime as special cases, that is, we would give the some new results besides previous ones given by Ref.\cite{60}. Furthermore, in order to get some insight into the effects of this theory on the 4D spacetime, by considering a specific type of models with $f_{1}(R)=f_{2}(R)=αR^{m}$ and $B(L_{m})=L_{m}=-ρ$, we not only discuss the constraints on the model parameters $m$, $n$, but also illustrate the evolutionary trajectories of the scale factor $a(t)$, the deceleration parameter $q(t)$ and the scalar field $ε(t)$, $ϕ(t)$ in the reduced 4D spacetime. The research results show that this type of $f(R)$ gravity models given by us could explain the current accelerated expansion of our universe without introducing dark energy.

Lifshitz effects on holographic $p$-wave superfluid

In the probe limit, we numerically build a holographic $p$-wave superfluid model in the four-dimensional Lifshitz black hole coupled to a Maxwell-complex vector field. We observe the rich phase structure and find that the Lifshitz dynamical exponent $z$ contributes evidently to the effective mass of the matter field and dimension of the gravitational background. Concretely, we obtain the Cave of Winds appeared only in the five-dimensional anti-de Sitter~(AdS) spacetime, and the increasing $z$ hinders not only the condensate but also the appearance of the first-order phase transition. Furthermore, our results agree with the Ginzburg-Landau results near the critical temperature. In addition, the previous AdS superfluid model is generalized to the Lifshitz spacetime.

Lifshitz Effects on Vector Condensate Induced by a Magnetic Field

By numerical and analytical methods, we study in detail the effects of the Lifshitz dynamical exponent $z$ on the vector condensate induced by an applied magnetic field in the probe limit. Concretely, in the presence of the magnetic field, we obtain the Landau level independent of $z$, and also find the critical value by coupling a Maxwell complex vector field and SU(2) field into a (3+1)-dimensional Lifshitz black hole, respectively. The research results show that for both two models with the lowest Landau level, the increasing $z$ improves the response of the critical temperature to the applied magnetic field even without the charge density, and the analytical results uphold the numerical results. In addition, we find even in the Lifshitz black hole, the Maxwell complex vector model is still a generalization of the SU(2) Yang-Mills model. Furthermore, we construct the square vortex lattice and discuss the implications of these results.

Lifshitz Scaling Effects on Holographic Superconductors

Via numerical and analytical methods, the effects of the Lifshitz dynamical exponent $z$ on holographic superconductors are studied in some detail, including $s$ wave and $p$ wave models. Working in the probe limit, we find that the behaviors of holographic models indeed depend on concrete value of $z$. We obtain the condensation and conductivity in both Lifshitz black hole and soliton backgrounds with general $z$. For both $s$ wave and $p$ wave models in the black hole backgrounds, as $z$ increases, the phase transition becomes more difficult and the growth of conductivity is suppressed. For the Lifshitz soliton backgrounds, when $z$ increases ($z=1,~2,~3$), the critical chemical potential decreases in the $s$ wave cases but increases in the $p$ wave cases. For $p$ wave models in both Lifshitz black hole and soliton backgrounds, the anisotropy between the AC conductivity in different spatial directions is suppressed when $z$ increases. The analytical results uphold the numerical results.

Magnetic-field effects on $p$-wave phase transition in Gauss-Bonnet gravity

In the probe limit, we study the holographic $p$-wave phase transition in the Gauss-Bonnet gravity via numerical and analytical methods. Concretely, we study the influences of the external magnetic field on the Maxwell complex vector model in the five-dimensional Gauss-Bonnet-AdS black hole and soliton backgrounds, respectively. For the two backgrounds, the results show that the magnetic field enhances the superconductor phase transition in the case of the lowest Landau level, while the increasing Gauss-Bonnet parameter always hinders the vector condensate. Moreover, the Maxwell complex vector model is a generalization of the SU(2) Yang-Mills model all the time. In addition, the analytical results backup the numerical results. Furthermore, this model might provide a holographic realization for the QCD vacuum instability.

Conditions and instability in $f(R)$ gravity with non-minimal coupling between matter and geometry

In this paper on the basis of the generalized $f(R)$ gravity model with arbitrary coupling between geometry and matter, four classes of $f(R)$ gravity models with non minimal coupling between geometry and matter will be studied. By means of conditions of power law expansion and the equation of state of matter less than -1/3, the relationship among p, w and n, the conditions and the candidate for late time cosmic accelerated expansion will be discussed in the four classes of $f(R)$ gravity models with non minimal coupling. Furthermore, in order to keep considering models to be realistic ones, the Dolgov Kawasaki instability will be investigated in each of them.

Energy Conditions and Stability in generalized $f(R)$ gravity with arbitrary coupling between matter and geometry

The energy conditions and the Dolgov-Kawasaki criterion in generalized $f(R)$ gravity with arbitrary coupling between matter and geometry are derived in this paper, which are quite general and can degenerate to the well-known energy conditions in GR and $f(R)$ gravity with non-minimal coupling and non-coupling as special cases. In order to get some insight on the meaning of these energy conditions and the Dolgov- Kawasaki criterion, we apply them to a class of models in the FRW cosmology and give some corresponding results.

Modified f(G) gravity models with curvature-matter coupling

A modified f(G) gravity model with coupling between matter and geometry is proposed, which is described by the product of the Lagrange density of the matter and an arbitrary function of the Gauss-Bonnet term. The field equations and the equations of motion corresponding to this model show the non-conservation of the energy-momentum tensor, the presence of an extra-force acting on test particles and the non-geodesic motion. Moreover, the energy conditions and the stability criterion at de Sitter point in the modified f(G) gravity models with curvature-matter coupling are derived, which can degenerate to the well-known energy conditions in general relativity. Furthermore, in order to get some insight on the meaning of these energy conditions, we apply them to the specific models of f(G) gravity and the corresponding constraints on the models are given. In addition, the conditions and the candidate for late-time cosmic accelerated expansion in the modified f(G) gravity are studied by means of conditions of power-law expansion and the equation of state of matter less than -1/ 3 .

More on QCD Ghost Dark Energy

The difference between vacuum energy of quantum fields in Minkowski space and in Friedmann-Robterson-Walker universe might be related to the observed dark energy. The vacuum energy of the Veneziano ghost field introduced to solve the $U(1)_A$ problem in QCD is of the form, $ H+ {\cal O}(H^2)$. Based on this, we study the dynamical evolution of a phenomenological dark energy model whose energy density is of the form $αH+βH^2$. In this model, the universe approaches to a de Sitter phase at late times. We fit the model with current observational data including SnIa, BAO, CMB, BBN, Hubble parameter and growth rate of matter perturbation. It shows that the universe begins to accelerate at redshift $z\sim 0.75$ and this model is consistent with current data. In particular, this model fits the data of growth factor well as the $ΛCDM$ model.
