Complementary astrometry of Cassini Imaging Science Subsystem Images of Phoebe

Phoebe is the only major satellite of Saturn with a retrograde orbit. The Cassini Imaging Science Subsystem (ISS) took a lot of Phoebe images between 2004 and 2017, but only a selection of them has been reduced. In this paper, we reduced the remaining ISS images of Phoebe. In the reduction, the Gaia EDR3 catalogue was used to provide the reference stars' positions, and the modified moment was used to measure the centre of image stars and Phoebe. Finally, a total of 834 ISS images of Phoebe have been reduced successfully. Compared with the JPL ephemeris SAT375, Phoebe's positions are consistent. The average residuals in the right ascension and declination are 0.08" and $-0.05$", and the standard deviations of the residuals are about 0.2". In terms of residuals in linear units, the means in the right ascension and declination are about 5 km and $-2$ km, respectively; The standard deviations are about 11 km. Compared with the JPL ephemeris SAT427 and IMCCE ephemeris PH20, our measurements show a strong bias and a large dispersion.

Dynamics Reflect Gapless Edge Modes for Topological Superconductor

We focus on the dynamical feature for a $p$-wave superconductor model in different parameter regions in terms of the appearance of gapless edge modes in reel geometry. Firstly, we show the parameter region with gapless edge modes versus a parameter and quasi-momentum. The parameter diagram can be reflected by the expectations of Pauli matrices in global manners. In another view, the dynamical feature of the excitation behave differently in the parameter regions with topological gapless edge modes and not. And the cusps of dynamical return rate vanish as the parameter pass the boundary in the parameter region slowly enough. It is found that the dynamics in the parameter region with gapless edge modes behaves differently to that without edge modes and related mostly to the eigenenergy gap between the pre-and post-quench eigenstates. The cusps of the dynamical return rate behave robustly against the noise in the lattice until localization behavior dominates. This work benefits detecting topological edge modes by dynamical manners.

Error analysis in suppression of unwanted qubit interactions for a parametric gate in a tunable superconducting circuit

We experimentally demonstrate a parametric iSWAP gate in a superconducting circuit based on a tunable coupler for achieving a continuous tunability to eliminate unwanted qubit interactions. We implement the twoqubit iSWAP gate by applying a fast-flux bias modulation pulse on the coupler to turn on parametric exchange interaction between computational qubits. The controllable interaction can provide an extra degree of freedom to verify the optimal condition for constructing the parametric gate. Aiming to fully investigate error sources of the two-qubit gates, we perform quantum process tomography measurements and numerical simulations as varying static ZZ coupling strength. We quantitatively calculate the dynamic ZZ coupling parasitizing in two-qubit gate operation, and extract the particular gate error from the decoherence, dynamic ZZ coupling and high-order oscillation terms. Our results reveal that the main gate error comes from the decoherence, while the increase in the dynamic ZZ coupling and high-order oscillation error degrades the parametric gate performance. This approach, which has not yet been previously explored, provides a guiding principle to improve gate fidelity of parametric iSWAP gate by suppression of the unwanted qubit interactions. This controllable interaction, together with the parametric modulation technique, is desirable for crosstalk free multiqubit quantum circuits and quantum simulation applications.
