Estimates for eigenvalues of Lr operator on self-shrinkers

Let x:M→RNx: M\rightarrow \mathbb{R}^{N} be an nn-dimensional compact self-shrinker in RN\mathbb{R}^N with smooth boundary ∂Ω\partialΩ. In this paper, we study eigenvalues of the operator Lr\mathcal{L}_r on MM, where Lr\mathcal{L}_r is defined by Lr=e∣x∣22div(e−∣x∣22Tr∇⋅)\mathcal{L}_r=e^{\frac{|x|^2}{2}}{\rm div}(e^{-\frac{|x|^2}{2}}T^r\nabla\cdot) with TrT^r denoting a positive definite (0,2)-tensor field on MM. We obtain "universal" inequalities for eigenvalues of the operator Lr\mathcal{L}_r. These inequalities generalize the result of Cheng and Peng in \cite{ChengPeng2013}. Furthermore, we also consider the case that equalities occur.

Lower bound estimates for eigenvalues of the Laplacian

For an nn-dimensional polytope ΩΩ in Rn\mathbb{R}^{n}, we study lower bounds for eigenvalues of the Dirichlet eigenvalue problem of the Laplacian. In the asymptotic formula on the average of the first kk eigenvalues, Li and Yau (1983) obtained the first term with the order k2nk^{\frac2n}, which is optimal. The next landmark goal is to give the second term with the order k1nk^{\frac1n} in the asymptotic formula. For this purpose, Kovař\'ık, Vugalter and Weidl (2009) have made an important breakthrough in the case of dimension 2. It is our purpose to study the nn-dimensional case for arbitrary dimension nn. We obtain the second term in the asymptotic sense.

Eigenvalues of the Laplacian on Riemannian manifolds

For a bounded domain ΩΩ with a piecewise smooth boundary in a complete Riemannian manifold MM, we study eigenvalues of the Dirichlet eigenvalue problem of the Laplacian. By making use of a fact that eigenfunctions form an orthonormal basis of L2(Ω)L^2(Ω) in place of the Rayleigh-Ritz formula, we obtain inequalities for eigenvalues of the Laplacian. In particular, for lower order eigenvalues, our results extend the results of Chen and Cheng \cite{CC}.
