On Rangasamy's outsourcing algorithm for solving quadratic congruence equations

Outsourcing computation is a desired approach for IoT (Internet of Things) devices to transfer their burdens of heavy computations to those nearby, resource-abundant cloud servers. Recently, Rangasamy presented a passive attack against two outsourcing algorithms proposed by Zhang et al. for solving quadratic congruence equations, which is widely used in IoT applications. Furthermore, he also proposed a modified algorithm to fix these schemes and claimed that his algorithm was correct and enabled secure and verifiable delegation of solving quadratic congruence equations in IoTs. However, we show that Rangasamy's modified algorithm has a flaw which makes it incorrect and also propose some further attacks to break the security claim, even when the flaw has been corrected.

Entangled bases with fixed Schmidt number

An entangled basis with fixed Schmidt number $k$ (EBk) is a set of orthonormal basis states with the same Schmidt number $k$ in a product Hilbert space $\mathbb{C}^d\otimes\mathbb{C}^{d'}$. It is a generalization of both the product basis and the maximally entangled basis. We show here that, for any $k\leq\min\{d,d'\}$, EBk exists in $\mathbb{C}^d\otimes\mathbb{C}^{d'}$ for any $d$ and $d'$. Consequently, general methods of constructing SEBk (EBk with the same Schmidt coefficients) and EBk (but not SEBk) are proposed. Moreover, we extend the concept of EBk to multipartite case and find out that the multipartite EBk can be constructed similarly.

Multipartite unextendible entangled basis

The unextendible entangled basis with any arbitrarily given Schmidt number $k$ (UEBk) in $\mathbb{C}^{d_1}\otimes\mathbb{C}^{d_2}$ is proposed in [Phys. Rev. A 90 (2014) 054303], $1<k\leq \min\{d_1,d_2\}$, which is a set of orthonormal entangled states with Schmidt number $k$ in a $d_1\otimes d_2$ system consisting of fewer than $d_1d_2$ vectors which have no additional entangled vectors with Schmidt number $k$ in the complementary space. In this paper, we extend it to multipartite case and a general way of constructing $(m+1)$-partite UEBk from $m$-partite UEBk is proposed ($m\geq 2$). Consequently, we show that there are infinitely many UEBks in $\mathbb{C}^{d_1}\otimes\mathbb{C}^{d_2}\otimes\cdots\otimes\mathbb{C}^{d_N}$ with any dimensions and any $N\geq3$.

Quantum correlation induced by the average distance between the reduced states

A new quantum correlation in terms of the average distance between the reduced state and the $i$-th output reduced states under local von Neumann measurements is proposed. It is shown that only the product states do not contain this quantum correlation and thus it is different from both the quantum discord (QD) [Phys. Rev. Lett. \textbf{88}, 017901 (2001)] and the measurement-induced nonlocality (MIN) [Phys. Rev. Lett. \textbf{106}, 120401(2011)]. For pure states, it is twice of the quantity MIN, and is smaller than QD and entanglement of formation (EOF). A general analytical formula is given and a lower bound for the two qubits case is obtained. Furthermore, we compare it with EOF and QD through the Werner state and the isotropic state respectively.

When quantum channel preserves product states

Product states are always considered as the states that don't contain quantum correlation. We discuss here when a quantum channel sends the product states to themselves. The exact forms of such channels are proposed. It is shown that such a quantum channel is a local quantum channel, a composition of a local quantum channel and a flip operation, or such that one of the local states is fixed. Both finite- and infinite-dimensional systems are considered.
