Active Crowd Counting with Limited Supervision

To learn a reliable people counter from crowd images, head center annotations are normally required. Annotating head centers is however a laborious and tedious process in dense crowds. In this paper, we present an active learning framework which enables accurate crowd counting with limited supervision: given a small labeling budget, instead of randomly selecting images to annotate, we first introduce an active labeling strategy to annotate the most informative images in the dataset and learn the counting model upon them. The process is repeated such that in every cycle we select the samples that are diverse in crowd density and dissimilar to previous selections. In the last cycle when the labeling budget is met, the large amount of unlabeled data are also utilized: a distribution classifier is introduced to align the labeled data with unlabeled data; furthermore, we propose to mix up the distribution labels and latent representations of data in the network to particularly improve the distribution alignment in-between training samples. We follow the popular density estimation pipeline for crowd counting. Extensive experiments are conducted on standard benchmarks i.e. ShanghaiTech, UCF CC 50, MAll, TRANCOS, and DCC. By annotating limited number of images (e.g. 10% of the dataset), our method reaches levels of performance not far from the state of the art which utilize full annotations of the dataset.

Periodic Solutions of Non-Autonomous Second Order Hamiltonian Systems

We try to generalize a result of M. Willem on forced periodic oscillations which required the assumption that the forced potential is periodic on spatial variables. In this paper, we only assume its integral on the time variable is periodic, and so we extend the result to cover the forced pendulum equation. We apply the direct variational minimizing method and Rabinowtz's saddle point theorem to study the periodic solution when the integral of the potential on the time variable is periodic.

Periodic Solutions for Circular Restricted 4-body Problems with Newtonian Potentials

We study the existence of non-collision periodic solutions with Newtonian potentials for the following planar restricted 4-body problems: Assume that the given positive masses $m_{1},m_{2},m_{3}$ in a Lagrange configuration move in circular obits around their center of masses, the sufficiently small mass moves around some body. Using variational minimizing methods, we prove the existence of minimizers for the Lagrangian action on anti-T/2 symmetric loop spaces. Moreover, we prove the minimizers are non-collision periodic solutions with some fixed wingding numbers.

Nonplanar Periodic Solutions for Spatial Restricted 3-Body and 4-Body Problems

In this paper, we study the existence of non-planar periodic solutions for the following spatial restricted 3-body and 4-body problems: for $N=2 or 3$, given any masses $m_{1},...,m_{N}$, the mass points of $m_{1},...,m_{N}$ move on the $N$ circular obits centered at the center of masses, the sufficiently small mass moves on the perpendicular axis passing the center of masses. Using variational minimizing methods, we establish the existence of the minimizers of the Lagrangian action on anti-T/2 or odd symmetric loop spaces. Moreover, we prove these minimizers are non-planar periodic solutions by using the Jacobi's Necessary Condition for local minimizers.
