$p$-Adic interpolation of orbits under rational maps

Let $L$ be a field of characteristic zero, let $h:\mathbb{P}^1\to \mathbb{P}^1$ be a rational map defined over $L$, and let $c\in \mathbb{P}^1(L)$. We show that there exists a finitely generated subfield $K$ of $L$ over which both $c$ and $h$ are defined along with an infinite set of inequivalent non-archimedean completions $K_{\mathfrak{p}}$ for which there exists a positive integer $a=a(\mathfrak{p})$ with the property that for $i\in \{0,\ldots ,a-1\}$ there exists a power series $g_i(t)\in K_{\mathfrak{p}}[[t]]$ that converges on the closed unit disc of $K_{\mathfrak{p}}$ such that $h^{an+i}(c)=g_i(n)$ for all sufficiently large $n$. As a consequence we show that the dynamical Mordell-Lang conjecture holds for split self-maps $(h,g)$ of $\mathbb{P}^1 \times X$ with $g$ étale.

Lipschitz regularity for solutions of the parabolic $p$-Laplacian in the Heisenberg group

We prove local Lipschitz regularity for weak solutions to a class of degenerate parabolic PDEs modeled on the parabolic $p$-Laplacian $$\p_t u= \sum_{i=1}^{2n} X_i (|\nabla_0 u|^{p-2} X_i u),$$ in a cylinder $Ω\times \R^+$, where $Ω$ is domain in the Heisenberg group $\Hn$, and $2\le p \le 4$. The result continues to hold in the more general setting of contact sub-Riemannian manifolds.

Quadratic reciprocity from a family of adelic conformal field theories

We consider a deformation of the two-dimensional free scalar field theory by raising the Laplacian to a positive real power. It turns out that the resulting non-local generalized free action is invariant under two commuting actions of the global conformal symmetry algebra, although it is no longer invariant under the full Witt algebra. Furthermore, there is an adelic version of this family of conformal field theories, parameterized by the choice of a number field, together with a Hecke character. Tate's thesis gives the Green's functions of these theories, and ensures that these Green's functions satisfy an adelic product formula. In particular, the local $L$-factors contribute to the prefactors of these Green's functions. Quadratic reciprocity turns out to be a consequence of an adelic version of a holomorphic factorization property of this family of theories on a quadratic extension of $\mathbb{Q}$. We explain that at the Archimedean place, the desired holomorphic factorization follows from the global conformal symmetry.

Bounds on the Ricci curvature and solutions to the Einstein equations for weighted graphs

This is a preliminary study of the equation of motion of Euclidean classical gravity on a graph, based on the Lin-Lu-Yau Ricci curvature on graphs. We observe that the constant edge weights configuration gives the unique solution on an infinite tree w.r.t. the asymptotically constant boundary condition. We study the minimum and maximum of the action w.r.t. certain boundary conditions, on several types of graphs of interest. We also exhibit a new class of solutions to the equations of motion on the infinite regular tree.

An inverse problem for the p-Laplacian: boundary determination

We study an inverse problem for nonlinear elliptic equations modelled after the p-Laplacian. It is proved that the boundary values of a conductivity coefficient are uniquely determined from boundary measurements given by a nonlinear Dirichlet-to-Neumann map. The result is constructive and local, and gives a method for determining the coefficient at a boundary point from measurements in a small neighborhood. The proofs work with the nonlinear equation directly instead of being based on linearization. In the complex valued case we employ complex geometrical optics type solutions based on p-harmonic exponentials, while for the real case we use p-harmonic functions first introduced by Wolff.
