On Ladyzhenskaya-Serrin condition sufficient for regular solutions to the Navier-Stokes equations. Periodic case

We consider the Navier-Stokes equations in a bounded domain with periodic boundary conditions. Let $V=V(x,t)$ be the velocity of the fluid. The aim of this paper is to prove the bound $\|V(t)\|_{H^1}\le c$ for any $t\in\mathbb{R}_+$, where $c$ depends on data. The proof is divided into two steps. In the first step the Lamé system with a special version of the convective term is considered. The system has two viscosities. Assuming that the second viscosity (the bulk one) is sufficiently large we are able to prove the existence of global regular solutions to this system. The proof is divided into two steps. First the long time existence in interval $(0,T)$ is proved, where $T$ is proportional to the bulk viscosity. Having the bulk viscosity large we are able to show that data at time $T$ are sufficiently small. Then by the small data arguments a global existence follows. In this paper we are restricted to derive appropriate estimates only. To prove the existence we should use the method of successive approximations and the continuation argument. Let $v$ be a solution to it. In the second step we consider a problem for $u=v-V$. Assuming that $\|u\|_{H^1}$ at $t=0$ is sufficiently small we show that $\|u(t)\|_{H^1}$ is also sufficiently small for any $t\in\mathbb{R}_+$. Estimates for $v$ and $u$ in $H^1$ imply estimate for $\|V(t)\|_{H^1}$ for any $t\in\mathbb{R}_+$.

Some stability problems to the Navier-Stokes equations in the periodic case

The Navier-Stokes motions in a box with periodic boundary conditions are considered. First the existence of global regular two-dimensional solutions is proved. The solutions are such that continuous with respect to time norms are controlled by the same constant for all $t\in\mathbb{R}_+$. Assuming that the initial velocity and the external force are sufficiently close to the initial velocity and the external force of the two-dimensional solutions we prove existence of global three-dimensional regular solutions which remain close to the two-dimensional solutions for all time. In this way we mean stability of two-dimensional solutions.

Long time existence of regular solutions to non-homogeneous Navier-Stokes equations

We consider the motion of incompressible viscous non-homogeneous fluid described by the Navier-Stokes equations in a bounded cylinder under boundary slip conditions. Assume that the third co-ordinate axis is the axis of the cylinder. Assuming that the derivatives of density, velocity, external force with respect to the third co-ordinate are sufficiently small in some norms we prove large time regular solutions without any restriction on the existence time. The proof is divided into two parts. First an a priori estimate is shown. Next the existence follows from the Leray-Schauder fixed point theorem.

Global Regular Solutions to a Kelvin-Voigt Type Thermoviscoelastic System

A classical 3-D thermoviscoelastic system of Kelvin-Voigt type is considered. The existence and uniqueness of a global regular solution is proved without small data assumption. The existence proof is based on the successive approximation method. The crucial part constitute a priori estimates on an arbitrary finite time interval, which are derived with the help of the theory of anisotropic Sobolev spaces with a mixed norm.

Long time estimate of solutions to 3d Navier-Stokes equations coupled with the heat convection

We examine the Navier-Stokes equations with homogeneous slip boundary conditions coupled with the heat equation with homogeneous Neumann conditions in a bounded domain in $R^3$. The considered domain is a cylinder with $x_3$-axis. The aim of this paper is to show long time estimates without smallness of the initial velocity, the initial temperature and the external force. To prove the estimate we need however smallness of $L_2$ norms of derivatives with respect to $x_3$ of the initial velocity, the initial temperature and the external force.

Long time existence of regular solutions to 3d Navier-Stokes equations coupled with the heat convection

We prove long time existence of regular solutions to the Navier-Stokes equations coupled with the heat equation. We consider the system in non-axially symmetric cylinder with the slip boundary conditions for the Navier-Stokes equations and the Neumann condition for the heat equation. The long time existence is possible because we assumed that derivatives with respect to the variable along the axis of the cylinder of the initial velocity, initial temperature and the external force in $L_2$ norms are sufficiently small. We proved the existence of such solutions that velocity and temperature belong to $W_σ^{2,1}(Ω\times(0,T))$, where $σ>{5\over3}$. The existence is proved by the Leray-Schauder fixed point theorem.

Nonstationary flow for the Navier-Stokes equations in a cylindrical pipe

In cylindrical domain, we consider the nonstationary flow with prescribed inflow and outflow, modelled with Navier-Stokes equations under the slip boundary conditions. Using smallness of some derivatives of inflow function, external force and initial velocity of the flow, but with no smallness restrictions on the inflow, initial velocity neither force, we prove existence of solutions in $W^{2,1}_2.$
