Kato-Ponce inequalities on weighted and variable Lebesgue spaces

We prove fractional Leibniz rules and related commutator estimates in the settings of weighted and variable Lebesgue spaces. Our main tools are uniform weighted estimates for sequences of square-function-type operators and a bilinear extrapolation theorem. We also give applications of the extrapolation theorem to the boundedness on variable Lebesgue spaces of certain bilinear multiplier operators and singular integrals.

Bilinear Sobolev-Poincare inequalities and Leibniz-type rules

The dual purpose of this article is to establish bilinear Poincare-type estimates associated to an approximation of the identity and to explore the connections between bilinear pseudo-differential operators and bilinear potential-type operators. The common underlying theme in both topics is their applications to Leibniz-type rules in Sobolev and Campanato-Morrey spaces under Sobolev scaling.

Regularity of solutions to degenerate $p$-Laplacian equations

We prove regularity results for solutions of the equation \[div(< AXu,X u>^{(p-2)/2} AX u) = 0,\] $1<p<\infty$, where $X=(X_1,...,X_m)$ is a family of vector fields satisfying Hörmander's ellipticity condition, $A$ is an $m\times m$ symmetric matrix that satisfies degenerate ellipticity conditions. If the degeneracy is of the form \[λw(x)^{2/p}|ξ|^2\leq < A(x)ξ,ξ>\leq Λw(x)^{2/p}|ξ|^2,\] $w \in A_p$, then we show that solutions are locally Hölder continuous. If the degeneracy is of the form \[ k(x)^{-2/p'}|ξ|^2\leq < A(x)ξ,ξ>\leq k(x)^{2/p}|ξ|^2, \] $k\in A_{p'}\cap RH_τ$,where $τ$ depends on the homogeneous dimension, then the solutions are continuous almost everywhere, and we give examples to show that this is the best result possible. We give an application to maps of finite distortion.

On the Hörmander classes of bilinear pseudodifferential operators II

Boundedness properties for pseudodifferential operators with symbols in the bilinear Hörmander classes of sufficiently negative order are proved. The results are obtained in the scale of Lebesgue spaces and, in some cases, end-point estimates involving weak-type spaces and BMO are provided as well. From the Lebesgue space estimates, Sobolev ones are then easily obtained using functional calculus and interpolation. In addition, it is shown that, in contrast with the linear case, operators associated with symbols of order zero may fail to be bounded on products of Lebesgue spaces.

On the Hörmander classes of bilinear pseudodifferential operators

Bilinear pseudodifferential operators with symbols in the bilinear analog of all the Hörmander classes are considered and the possibility of a symbolic calculus for the transposes of the operators in such classes is investigated. Precise results about which classes are closed under transposition and can be characterized in terms of asymptotic expansions are presented. This work extends the results for more limited classes studied before in the literature and, hence, allows the use of the symbolic calculus (when it exists) as an alternative way to recover the boundedness on products of Lebesgue spaces for the classes that yield operators with bilinear Calderón-Zygmund kernels. Some boundedness properties for other classes with estimates in the form of Leibniz' rule are presented as well.

Weighted multilinear Poincare inequalities for vector fields of Hormander type

As the classical $(p,q)$-Poincaré inequality is known to fail for $0 < p < 1$, we introduce the notion of weighted multilinear Poincaré inequality as a natural alternative when $m$-fold products and $1/m < p$ are considered. We prove such weighted multilinear Poincaré inequalities in the subelliptic context associated to vector fields of Hörmader type. We do so by establishing multilinear representation formulas and weighted estimates for multilinear potential operators in spaces of homogeneous type.
