Entrance laws for positive self-similar Markov processes

In this paper we propose an alternative construction of the self-similar entrance laws for positive self-similar Markov processes. The study of entrance laws has been carried out in previous papers using different techniques, depending on whether the process hits zero in a finite time almost surely or not. The technique here used allows to obtain the entrance laws in a unified way. Besides, we show that in the case where the process hits zero in a finite time, if there exists a self-similar entrance law, then there are infinitely many, but they can all be embedded into a single one. We propose a pathwise extension of this embedding for self-similar Markov processes. We apply the same technique to construct entrance law for other types self-similar processes.

The excursion measure away from zero for spectrally negative Lévy processes

We provide a description of the excursion measure from a point for a spectrally negative Lévy process. The description is based in two main ingredients. The first is building a spectrally negative Lévy process conditioned to avoid zero and the study of its entrance law at zero. The latter is connected with both the excursion measure from zero of the process reflected in its infimum and reflected in its supremum. This lead us to establish a connection with the excursion measure from the state zero with the excursion measure from zero for the process reflected at the infimum and reflected at the supremum, respectively, which is the second main ingredient of our description.

Quasi-stationary distributions and Yaglom limits of self-similar Markov processes

We discuss the existence and characterization of quasi-stationary distributions and Yaglom limits of self-similar Markov processes that reach 0 in finite time. By Yaglom limit, we mean the existence of a deterministic function $g$ and a non-trivial probability measure $ν$ such that the process rescaled by $g$ and conditioned on non-extinction converges in distribution towards $ν$. If the study of quasi-stationary distributions is easy and follows mainly from a previous result by Bertoin and Yor \cite{BYFacExp} and Berg \cite{bergI}, that of Yaglom limits is more challenging. We will see that a Yaglom limit exits if and only if the extinction time at 0 of the process is in the domain of attraction of an extreme law and we will then treat separately three cases, according whether the extinction time is in the domain of attraction of a Gumbel law, a Weibull law or a Fréchet law. In each of these cases, necessary and sufficient conditions on the parameters of the underlying Lévy process are given for the extinction time to be in the required domain of attraction. The limit of the process conditioned to be positive is then characterized by a multiplicative equation which is connected to a factorization of the exponential distribution in the Gumbel case, a factorization of a Beta distribution in the Weibull case and a factorization of a Pareto distribution in the Fréchet case. This approach relies partly on results on the tail distribution of the extinction time, which is known to be distributed as the exponential integral of a Lévy process. In that aim, new results on such tail distributions are given, which may be of independent interest. Last, we present applications of the Fréchet case to a family of Ornstein-Uhlenbeck processes.

On some transformations between positive self--similar Markov processes

A path decomposition at the infimum for positive self-similar Markov processes (pssMp) is obtained. Next, several aspects of the conditioning to hit 0 of a pssMp are studied. Associated to a given a pssMp $X,$ that never hits 0, we construct a pssMp $X^{\downarrow}$ that hits 0 in a finite time. The latter can be viewed as $X$ conditioned to hit 0 in a finite time and we prove that this conditioning is determined by the pre-minimum part of $X.$ Finally, we provide a method for conditioning a pssMp that hits 0 by a jump to do it continuously.
