A linearised inverse conductivity problem for the Maxwell system at a high frequency

We consider a linearised inverse conductivity problem for electromagnetic waves in a three dimensional bounded domain at a high time-harmonic frequency. Increasing stability bounds for the conductivity coefficient in the full Maxwell system and in a simplified transverse electric mode are derived. These bounds contain a Lipschitz term with a factor growing polynomially in terms of the frequency, a Holder term, and a logarithmic term which decays with respect to the frequency as a power. To validate this increasing stability numerically, we propose a reconstruction algorithm aiming at the recovery of sufficiently many Fourier modes of the conductivity. A numerical evidence sheds light on the influence of the growing frequency and confirms the improved resolution at higher frequencies.

Uniqueness and increasing stability in electromagnetic inverse source problems

In this paper we study the uniqueness and the increasing stability in the inverse source problem for electromagnetic waves in homogeneous and inhomogeneous media from boundary data at multiple wave numbers. For the unique determination of sources, we consider inhomogeneous media and use tangential components of the electric field and magnetic field at the boundary of the reference domain. The proof relies on the Fourier transform with respect to the wave numbers and the unique continuation theorems. To study the increasing stability in the source identification, we consider homogeneous media and measure the absorbing data or the tangential component of the electric field at the boundary of the reference domain as additional data. By using the Fourier transform with respect to the wave numbers, explicit bounds for analytic continuation, Huygens' principle and bounds for initial boundary value problems, increasing (with larger wave numbers intervals) stability estimate is obtained.

Linearized inverse Schrödinger potential problem at a large wavenumber

We investigate recovery of the (Schrödinger) potential function from many boundary measurements at a large wavenumber. By considering such a linearized form, we obtain a Hölder type stability which is a big improvement over a logarithmic stability in low wavenumbers. Furthermore we extend the discussion to the linearized inverse Schrödinger potential problem with attenuation, where an exponential dependence of the attenuation constant is traced in the stability estimate. Based on the linearized problem, a reconstruction algorithm is proposed aiming at the recovery of the Fourier modes of the potential function. By choosing the large wavenumber appropriately, we verify the efficiency of the proposed algorithm by several numerical examples.

Increasing stability for the conductivity and attenuation coefficients

In this work we consider stability of recovery of the conductivity and attenuation coefficients of the stationary Maxwell and Schrödinger equations from a complete set of (Cauchy) boundary data. By using complex geometrical optics solutions we derive some bounds which can be viewed as an evidence of increasing stability in these inverse problems when frequency is growing.

Increasing stability for determining the potential in the Schrödinger equation with attenuation from the Dirichlet-to-Neumann map

We derive some bounds which can be viewed as an evidence of increasing stability in the problem of recovering the potential coefficient in the Schrödinger equation from the Dirichlet-to-Neumann map in the presence of attenuation, when energy level/frequency is growing. These bounds hold under certain a-priori regularity constraints on the unknown coefficient. Proofs use complex and bounded complex geometrical optics solutions.

Recovery of time dependent volatility coefficient by linearization

We study the problem of reconstruction of special special time dependent local volatility from market prices of options with different strikes at two expiration times. For a general diffusion process we apply the linearization technique and we conclude that the option price can be obtained as the sum of the Black-Scholes formula and of an operator $W$ which is linear in perturbation of volatility. We further simplify the linearized inverse problem and obtain unique solvability result in basic functional spaces. By using the Laplace transform in time we simplify the kernels of integral operators for $W$ and we obtain uniqueness and stability results for for volatility under natural condition of smallness of the spacial interval where one prescribes the (market) data. We propose a numerical algorithm based on our analysis of the linearized problem.
