On the ρ ρ and σtot σ_{tot} measurement by the TOTEM Collaboration: in the wake of recent discoveries

We show that extraction of the quantities} $ρ(s)=\mbox{Re}[T_{N}(s,0)]/\mbox{Im}[T_{N}(s,0)]$ {\it and} $σ_{\mbox{tot}}(s)$ {\it from the data on the pppp differential cross-section at s=13\sqrt{s} = 13} TeV {\it obtained by the} TOTEM {\it Collaboration gives results essentially different from those presented in publication} \cite{Ant} {\it if to use a modified formula for Coulomb-nuclear interference. The physical interpretation of these data changes accordingly.

Single and double diffractive dissociation and the problem of extraction of the proton-Pomeron cross-section

Diffractive dissociation processes are analysed in the framework of covariant reggeization. We have considered the general form of hadronic tensor and its asymptotic behaviour for t→0t\rightarrow 0 in the case of conserved tensor currents before reggeization. Resulting expressions for differential cross-section of single dissociation (SD) process (pp→pMpp \rightarrow p M), double dissociation (DD) (pp→M1M2pp\rightarrow M_1 M_2) and for the proton-Pomeron cross-section are given in detail, and corresponding problems of the approach are discussed.

High-Energy Scattering vs Static QCD Strings

We discuss the shape of the interaction region of the elastically scattered protons stipulated by the high-energy Pomeron exchange which turns out to be very similar with the shape of the static string representing the confining QCD flux tube. This similarity disappears when we enter the LHC energy region, which corresponds to many-Pomeron exchanges. Reversing the argument we conjecture a modified relationship between the width and the length of the confining string at very large lengths.

Can We Get Deeper Inside the Pion at the LHC?

We propose a measurement of leading neutrons spectra at LHC in order to extract inclusive π+pπ^+ p and π+π+π^+π^+ cross-sections with high pTp_T jets production. The cross-sections for these processes are simulated with the use of parton distributions in hadrons. In this work we estimate the possibility to extract parton distributions in the pion from the data on these cross-sections and also search for signatures of fundamental differences in the pion and proton structure.

MonChER: Monte-Carlo generator for CHarge Exchange Reactions. Version 1.1. Physics and Manual

MonChER is a Monte Carlo event generator for simulation of single and double charge exchange reactions in proton-proton collisions at energies from 0.9 to 14 TeV. Such reactions, pp→n+Xpp\to n+X and pp→n+X+npp\to n+X+n, are characterized by leading neutron production. They are dominated by π+π^+ exchange and could provide us with more information about total and elastic π+pπ^+ p and π+π+π^+π^+ cross sections and parton distributions in pions in the still unexplored kinematical region.

Coulomb Interference in High-Energy pp and pbar p Scattering

An analysis of the Coulombic amplitude and its interference with the nuclear amplitude which is driven by the three-component Pomeron is presented. It is shown that different approaches towards the Coulomb phase evaluation give approximately uniform result at all energies and the difference is negligible at RHIC and LHC energies. We show that the use of the amplitude which was fitted to accomodate nucleon data only (in the region 0.01 < |t| < 14.5 (GeV^2)) combined with the Coulomb amplitude, reproduces the existing data in the Coulomb interference domain quite accurately without any adjustement of the parameters. As a consequence, we predict the differential cross section in the region of the Coulomb nucleon interference for both RHIC and LHC energies.

The First Three Pomerons

A model of a three Pomeron contribution to high energy elastic pppp and pˉp\bar p p scattering is proposed. The data are well described for all momenta (0.01≤∣t∣≤14.GeV20.01\le |t|\le 14. GeV^2) and energies (8.≤s≤1800.GeV8.\le\sqrt{s}\le 1800. GeV) (χ2/d.o.f.=2.74χ^2/{\rm d.o.f.}=2.74). The model predicts the appearance of two dips in the differential cross-section which will be measured at LHC. The parameters of the Pomeron trajectories are: α(0)P1=1.058,α′(0)P1=0.560(GeV−2);α(0)_{{\Bbb P}_1}=1.058, α'(0)_{{\Bbb P}_1}=0.560 (GeV^{-2}); α(0)P2=1.167,α′(0)P2=0.273(GeV−2);α(0)_{{\Bbb P}_2}=1.167, α'(0)_{{\Bbb P}_2}=0.273 (GeV^{-2}); α(0)P3=1.203,α′(0)P3=0.094(GeV−2).α(0)_{{\Bbb P}_3}=1.203, α'(0)_{{\Bbb P}_3}=0.094 (GeV^{-2}).

Dependence of Deep Inelastic Structure Functions on Quark Masses

We argue that the difference between the structure functions corresponding to deep inelastic scattering with and without heavy quarks in the current fragmentation region scales at high Q2Q^2 and fixed (low) xBjx_{Bj}. The lower bound on charm contribution to the total structure function, F2c(Q2,x)F_2^c(Q^2,x), is calculated and compared with the recent data on F2c(Q2,x)F_2^c(Q^2,x) from H1 Collaboration.
