Tropical quantum field theory, mirror polyvector fields, and multiplicities of tropical curves

We introduce algebraic structures on the polyvector fields of an algebraic torus that serve to compute multiplicities in tropical and log Gromov-Witten theory while also connecting to the mirror symmetry dual deformation theory of complex structures. Most notably these structures include a tropical quantum field theory and an $L_{\infty}$-structure. The latter is an instance of Getzler's gravity algebra, and the $l_2$-bracket is a restriction of the Schouten-Nijenhuis bracket. We explain the relationship to string topology in the appendix (thanks to Janko Latschev).

Donaldson-Thomas invariants from tropical disks

We prove that the quantum DT invariants associated to quivers with genteel potential can be expressed in terms of certain refined counts of tropical disks. This is based on a quantum version of Bridgeland's description of cluster scattering diagrams in terms of stabilitiy conditions, plus a new version of the description of scattering diagrams in terms of tropical disk counts. The weights with which the tropical disks are counted are expressed in terms of motivic integrals of certain quiver flag varieties. We also show via explicit counterexample that Hall algebra broken lines do not result in consistent Hall algebra theta functions, i.e., they violate the extension of a lemma of Carl-Pumperla-Siebert from the classical setting.

Tropical Theta Functions and Log Calabi-Yau Surfaces

We generalize the standard combinatorial techniques of toric geometry to the study of log Calabi-Yau surfaces. The character and cocharacter lattices are replaced by certain integral linear manifolds described by Gross, Hacking, and Keel, and monomials on toric varieties are replaced with the canonical theta functions which GHK defined using ideas from mirror symmetry. We describe the tropicalizations of theta functions and use them to generalize the dual pairing between the character and cocharacter lattices. We use this to describe generalizations of dual cones, Newton and polar polytopes, Minkowski sums, and finite Fourier series expansions. We hope that these techniques will generalize to higher-rank cluster varieties.
