Elliptically oscillating solutions in Abelian-Higgs model and electromagnetic property

The elliptically oscillating solutions in the Abelian Higgs-model are presented and the classical massive-dispersion-relation through the non-linear dynamics is discussed. The generated massive-dispersion-relation including a field value of the scalar field is derived as the consequence of the equation of motions. We discuss the property of the new solutions and its Hamiltonian density. In addition, we calculate the electromagnetic property of the system, in particular, we derive the relation between the field value and the electric field and the electric current-density.

Precise Phase Structure in Four-fermion Interaction Model on Torus

We investigate finite-size effects on chiral symmetry breaking in a four-fermion interaction model at a finite temperature and a chemical potential. Applying the imaginary time formalism, the thermal quantum field theory is constructed on an $S^1$ in the imaginary time direction. In this paper, the finite-size effect is introduced by a compact $S^1$ spatial direction with a $\mathrm{U}(1)$-valued boundary condition. Thus, we study the model on a $\mathbb{R}^{D-2} \times S^1 \times S^1$ torus. Phase diagrams are obtained by evaluating the local minima of the effective potential in the leading order of the $1/N$ expansion. From the grand potential, we calculate the particle number density and the pressure, then we illustrate the correspondence with the phase structure. We obtain a stable size for which the sign of the pressure flips from negative to positive as the size decreases. Furthermore, the finite chemical potential expands the parameter range that the stable size exists.

Gravitational waves in Modified Gauss-Bonnet Gravity

We study the gravitational waves in modified Gauss-Bonnet gravity. Applying the metric perturbation around a cosmological background, we obtain explicit expressions for the wave equations. It is shown that the speed of the traceless mode is equal to the speed of light. An additional massive scalar mode appears in the propagation of the gravitational waves. To find phenomena beyond the general relativity the scalar mode mass is calculated as a function of the background curvature in some typical models.

Exploring the inflation of $F(R)$ gravity

The early time expansion of the space-time, namely inflation, is introduced to solve some cosmological problems. $F(R)$ gravity is a simple extension of the general relativity to induce the inflationary expansion. The precise observation of the Cosmic Microwave Background gives us the information to inspect the model of the inflation. By the Weyl transformation, $F(R)$ gravity can be transformed to the Einstein-Hilbert term with a scalar field that plays the role of the inflaton. In this paper we obtain general formulae to derive the inflationary parameters including the models with a non-canonical kinetic term. The inflationary parameters are described as functions of the inflation potential and its derivatives. We apply the procedure to $F(R)=R+γR^n$ and $R(1+γR^n)^{1/n}$ models and show the allowed parameters space.

Parameter fitting in three-flavor Nambu--Jona-Lasinio model with various regularizations

We study the three-flavor Nambu--Jona-Lasinio model with various regularization procedures. We perform parameter fitting in each regularization and apply the obtained parameter sets to evaluate various physical quantities, several light meson masses, decay constant and the topological susceptibility. The model parameters are adopted even at very high cutoff scale compare to the hadronic scale to study the asymptotic behavior of the model. It is found that all the regularization methods except for the dimensional one actually lead reliable physical predictions for the kaon decay constant, sigma meson mass and topological susceptibility without restricting the ultra-violet cutoff below the hadronic scale.

Elliptically Oscillating Classical Solution in Higgs Potential and the Effects on Vacuum Transitions

We investigate oscillating solutions of the equation of motion for the Higgs potential. The solutions are described by Jacobian elliptic functions. Classifying the classical solutions, we evaluate a possible parameter-space for the initial conditions. In order to construct the field theory around the oscillating solutions quantum fluctuations are introduced. This alternative perturbation method is useful to describe the non-trivial quantum theory around the oscillating state. This perturbation theory reduces to the standard one if we take the solution at the vacuum expectation value. It is shown that the transition probability between the vacuum and multi-quanta states is finite as long as the initial field configuration does not start from the true vacuum.

Gauged Nambu-Jona-Lasinio inflation

We investigate the gauged Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model in curved spacetime at the large $N_c$ limit and in slow-roll approximation. The model can be described by the renormalization group corrected gauge-Higgs-Yukawa theory with the corresponding compositeness conditions. Evaluating the renormalization group (RG) improved effective action, we show that such model can produce CMB fluctuations and find inflationary parameters: spectral index, tensor-to-scalar-ratio and running of the spectral index. We demonstrate that the model can naturally satisfy the Planck 2015 data and maybe considered as an alternative candidate for Higgs inflation.

Non-Minimal Two-Loop Inflation

We investigate the chaotic inflationary model using the two-loop effective potential of a self-interacting scalar field theory in curved spacetime. We use the potential which contains a non-minimal scalar curvature coupling and a quartic scalar self-interaction. We analyze the Lyapunov stability of de Sitter solution and show the stability bound. Calculating the inflationary parameters, we systematically explore the spectral index $n_s$ and the tensor-to-scalar ratio $r$, with varying the four parameters, the scalar-curvature coupling $ξ_0$, the scalar quartic coupling $λ_0$, the renormalization scale $μ$ and the e-folding number $N$. It is found that the two-loop correction on $n_s$ is much larger than the leading-log correction, which has previously been studied. We show that the model is consistent with the observation by Planck with WMAP and a recent joint analysis of BICEP2.

Gauge covariant solution for the Schwinger-Dyson equation in three-dimensional QED with Chern-Simons term

An Abelian gauge theory with Chern-Simons term is investigated for a four-component Dirac fermion in 1+2 dimensions. The Ball-Chiu (BC) vertex function is employed to modify the rainbow-ladder approximation for the Schwinger-Dyson (SD) equation. We numerically solve the SD equation and show the gauge dependence for the resulting phase boundary for the parity and the chiral symmetry.

Inflationary Parameters in Renormalization Group Improved $ϕ^4$ Theory

Inflation models can be examined by the cosmological observations, WMAP, Planck, BICEP2 and so on. These observations directly constrain the spectral index, $n_s$, and the tensor-to-scalar ratio, $r$. Besides, from a theoretical point of view, it has been shown that any inflation models asymptote a universal attractor in $(n_s,r)$ plane for a larger scalar-gravity coupling. In this work we consider a simple chaotic inflation model with a scalar quartic and a scalar-curvature interactions. The quantum corrections are introduced for these interactions through the renormalization group. The inflationary parameters, $n_s$ and $r$, are numerically calculated with shifting the bare scalar-gravity coupling $ξ_0$, the quartic scalar bare coupling $λ_0$, the renormalization scale $μ$ and the e-folding number $N$. The Planck data is consistent with the $ϕ^4$ theory with a finite scalar-curvature coupling. It is found that the RG running induces a non-universal contribution for $n_s$ and $r$. It can increase the tensor-to-scalar ratio, $r$, which is consistent with Planck data so that it may approach the BICEP2 data for a small renormalization scale.

Non-Equilibrium Thermo Field Dynamics for Relativistic Complex Scalar and Dirac Fields

Relativistic quantum field theories for complex scalar and Dirac fields are investigated in non-equilibrium thermo field dynamics. The thermal vacuum is defined by the Bogoliubov transformed creation and annihilation operators. Two independent Bogoliubov parameters are introduced for a charged field. Its difference naturally induces the chemical potential. Time-dependent thermal Bogoliubov transformation generates the thermal counter terms. We fix the terms by the self-consistency renormalization condition. Evaluating the thermal self-energy under the self-consistency renormalization condition, we derive the quantum Boltzmann equations for the relativistic fields.

Boltzmann Equation for Relativistic Neutral Scalar Field in Non-equilibrium Thermo Field Dynamics

A relativistic neutral scalar field is investigated on the basis of the Schwinger-Dyson equation in the non-equilibrium thermo field dynamics. A time evolution equation for a distribution function is obtained from a diagonalization condition for the Schwinger-Dyson equation. An explicit expression of the time evolution equation is calculated in the $λϕ^4$ interaction model at the 2-loop level. The Boltzmann equation is derived for the relativistic scalar field. We set a simple initial condition and numerically solve the Boltzmann equation and show the time evolution of the distribution function and the relaxation time.

Canonical Quantization for a Relativistic Neutral Scalar Field in Non-equilibrium Thermo Field Dynamics

A relativistic neutral scalar field is investigated in non-equilibrium thermo field dynamics. The canonical quantization is applied to the fields out of equilibrium. Because the thermal Bogoliubov transformation becomes time-dependent, the equations of motion for the ordinary unperturbed creation and annihilation operators are modified. This forces us to introduce a thermal counter term in the interaction Hamiltonian which generates additional radiative corrections. Imposing the self-consistency renormalization condition on the total radiative corrections, we obtain the quantum Boltzmann equation for the relativistic scalar field.

Space-time evolution induced by spinor fields with canonical and non-canonical kinetic terms

We study spinor field theories as an origin to induce space-time evolution. Self-interacting spinor fields with canonical and non-canonical kinetic terms are considered in a Friedman-Robertson-Walker universe. The deceleration parameter is calculated by solving the equation of motion and the Friedman equation, simultaneously. It is shown that the spinor fields can accelerate and decelerate the universe expansion. To construct realistic models we discuss the contributions from the dynamical symmetry breaking.

Curvature and topological effects on dynamical symmetry breaking in a four- and eight-fermion interaction model

A dynamical mechanism for symmetry breaking is investigated under the circumstances with the finite curvature, finite size and non-trivial topology. A four- and eight-fermion interaction model is considered as a prototype model which induces symmetry breaking at GUT era. Evaluating the effective potential in the leading order of the 1/N-expansion by using the dimensional regularization, we explicitly calculate the phase boundary which divides the symmetric and the broken phase in a weakly curved space-time and a flat space-time with non-trivial topology, $R^{D-1} \otimes S^1$.

Phase Structure of a Four- and Eight-Fermion Interaction Model at Finite Temperature and Chemical Potential in Arbitrary Dimensions

The phase structure of a four- and eight-fermion interaction model is investigated at finite temperature and chemical potential in arbitrary space-time dimensions, $2\leq D<4$. The effective potential and the gap equation are calculated in the leading order of the 1/N expansion. If the first order phase transition takes place, the phase boundary dividing the symmetric and the broken phase is modified by the eight-fermion interaction.

Dynamical Fermion Masses Under the Influence of Kaluza-Klein Fermions in Randall-Sundrum Background

The dynamical fermion mass generation on the D3-brane in the Randall-Sundrum space-time is discussed in a model with bulk fermions in interaction with fermions on the branes. It is found that the dynamical fermion masses are generated at the natural (R.-S.) radius of the compactified extra space and may be made small compared with masses of the Kaluza-Klein modes which is of order of TeV.

Curvature Induced Phase Transition in a Four-Fermion Theory Using the Weak Curvature Expansion

Curvature induced phase transition is thoroughly investigated in a four- fermion theory with $N$ components of fermions for arbitrary space-time dimensions $(2 \leq D < 4)$. We adopt the $1/N$ expansion method and calculate the effective potential for a composite operator $\barψψ$. The resulting effective potential is expanded asymptotically in terms of the space-time curvature $R$ by using the Riemann normal coordinate. We assume that the space-time curves slowly and keep only terms independent of $R$ and terms linear in $R$. Evaluating the effective potential it is found that the first-order phase transition is caused and the broken chiral symmetry is restored for a large positive curvature. In the space-time with a negative curvature the chiral symmetry is broken down even if the coupling constant of the four-fermion interaction is sufficiently small. We present the behavior of the dynamically generated fermion mass. The critical curvature, $R_{cr}$, which divides the symmetric and asymmetric phases is obtained analytically as a function of the space-time dimension $D$. At the four-dimensional limit our result $R_{cr}$ agrees with the exact results known in de Sitter space and Einstein universe.
