On uniqueness of invariant measures for random walks on HOMEO(R)

We consider random walks on the group of orientation-preserving homeomorphisms of the real line ${\mathbb R}$. In particular, the fundamental question of uniqueness of an invariant measure of the generated process is raised. This problem was already studied by Choquet and Deny (1960) in the context of random walks generated by translations of the line. Nowadays the answer is quite well understood in general settings of strongly contractive systems. Here we focus on broader class of systems satisfying the conditions: recurrence, contraction and unbounded action. We prove that under these conditions the random process possesses a unique invariant Radon measure on ${\mathbb R}$. Our work can be viewed as a subsequent paper of Babillot et al. (1997) and Deroin et al. (2013).

Robust Device-Independent Randomness Amplification with Few Devices

Randomness amplification is the task of transforming a source of somewhat random bits into a source of fully random bits. Although it is impossible to amplify randomness from a single source by classical means, the situation is different considering non-local correlations allowed by quantum mechanics. Here we give the first device-independent protocol for randomness amplification using a constant number of devices. The protocol involves four devices, can amplify any non-deterministic source into a fully random source, tolerates a constant rate of error, and has its correctness based solely on the assumption of no-signaling between the devices. In contrast all previous protocols either required an unbounded number of devices, or could only amplify sources sufficiently close to fully random.

Passive tracer in a flow corresponding to a two dimensional stochastic Navier Stokes equations

In this paper we prove the law of large numbers and central limit theorem for trajectories of a particle carried by a two dimensional Eulerian velocity field. The field is given by a solution of a stochastic Navier--Stokes system with a non-degenerate noise. The spectral gap property, with respect to Wasserstein metric, for such a system has been shown in [9]. In the present paper we show that a similar property holds for the environment process corresponding to the Lagrangian observations of the velocity. In consequence we conclude the law of large numbers and the central limit theorem for the tracer. The proof of the central limit theorem relies on the martingale approximation of the trajectory process.

Calderón-Zygmund operators related to Laguerre function expansions of convolution type

We develop a technique of proving standard estimates in the setting of Laguerre function expansions of convolution type, which works for all admissible type multi-indices $α$ in this context. This generalizes a simpler method existing in the literature, but being valid for a restricted range of $α$. As an application, we prove that several fundamental operators in harmonic analysis of the Laguerre expansions, including maximal operators related to the heat and Poisson semigroups, Riesz transforms, Littlewood-Paley-Stein type square functions and multipliers of Laplace and Laplace-Stieltjes transforms type, are (vector-valued) Calderón-Zygmund operators in the sense of the associated space of homogeneous type.

Multipliers of Laplace transform type in certain Dunkl and Laguerre settings

We investigate Laplace type and Laplace-Stieltjes type multipliers in the $d$-dimensional setting of the Dunkl harmonic oscillator with the associated group of reflections isomorphic to $\mathbb{Z}_2^d$ and in the related context of Laguerre function expansions of convolution type. We use Calderón-Zygmund theory to prove that these multiplier operators are bounded on weighted $L^p$, $1<p<\infty$, and from $L^1$ to weak $L^1$.

On ergodicity of some Markov processes

We formulate a criterion for the existence and uniqueness of an invariant measure for a Markov process taking values in a Polish phase space. In addition, weak-$^*$ ergodicity, that is, the weak convergence of the ergodic averages of the laws of the process starting from any initial distribution, is established. The principal assumptions are the existence of a lower bound for the ergodic averages of the transition probability function and its local uniform continuity. The latter is called the e-property. The general result is applied to solutions of some stochastic evolution equations in Hilbert spaces. As an example, we consider an evolution equation whose solution describes the Lagrangian observations of the velocity field in the passive tracer model. The weak-$^*$ mean ergodicity of the corresponding invariant measure is used to derive the law of large numbers for the trajectory of a tracer.
