Measurement of medium-induced acoplanarity in central Au-Au and pp collisions at sNN=200\sqrt{s_{\rm NN}}=200 GeV using direct-photon+jet and π0π^{0}+jet correlations

The STAR Collaboration reports measurements of acoplanarity using semi--inclusive distributions of charged--particle jets recoiling from direct photon and π0π^{0} triggers, in central Au+Au and pppp collisions at sNN=200\sqrt{s_\mathrm{NN}}=200 GeV. Significant medium--induced acoplanarity broadening is observed for large but not small recoil jet resolution parameter, corresponding to recoil jet yield enhancement up to a factor of ≈20\approx20 for trigger--recoil azimuthal separation far from ππ. This phenomenology is indicative of the response of the Quark--Gluon Plasma to excitation, but not the scattering of jets off of its quasiparticles. The measurements are not well--described by current theoretical models which incorporate jet quenching.

Physics Program for the STAR/CBM eTOF Upgrade

The STAR Collaboration and the CBM Collaboration institutions: Heidelberg, Darmstadt, CCNU, Tsinghua, and USTC propose to install an end-cap time-of-flight upgrade (eTOF) to the STAR detector for the RHIC beam energy scan phase II (BES-II) program in 2019 and 2020. BES-II will cover the collision energy range 3.0 to 19.6 GeV. This is the region of interest in the search for a critical point and first-order phase transition, identified by the results from BES-I and by model calculations. For the collider-mode portion of the energy scan, 7.7 to 19.6 GeV, eTOF will extend particle identification (PID) for pions, kaons, and protons to a rapidity of 1.2, complementing the inner Time Projection Chamber (iTPC) upgrade to the forward tracking. The rapidity coverage for PID would extend to only 0.8 without the eTOF upgrade. The eTOF upgrade will enable precision studies of the key bulk property observables, essential to the BES-II search. An internal fixed-target program will allow the energy scan to cover 3.0 to 7.7 GeV. The eTOF upgrade will provide essential mid-rapidity PID for the 4.5 to 7.7 GeV portion of the scan in fixed-target mode. Otherwise there would be a large energy gap in the middle of the BES-II program. A full description of the physics provided by the eTOF upgrade to STAR is presented in this note.

Directed Flow of Identified Particles in Au + Au Collisions at $\sqrtsNN = 200$ GeV at RHIC

STAR's measurements of directed flow (v1v_1) around midrapidity for π±π^{\pm}, K±^{\pm}, KS0_S^0, pp and pˉ\bar{p} in Au + Au collisions at $\sqrtsNN = 200$ GeV are presented. A negative v1(y)v_1(y) slope is observed for most of produced particles (π±π^{\pm}, K±^{\pm}, KS0_{S}^{0} and pˉ\bar{p}). In 5-30% central collisions a sizable difference is present between the v1(y)v_1(y) slope of protons and antiprotons, with the former being consistent with zero within errors. The v1v_1 excitation function is presented. Comparisons to model calculations (RQMD, UrQMD, AMPT, QGSM with parton recombination, and a hydrodynamics model with a tilted source) are made. For those models which have calculations of v1v_1 for both pions and protons, none of them can describe v1(y)v_1(y) for pions and protons simultaneously. The hydrodynamics model with a tilted source as currently implemented cannot explain the centrality dependence of the difference between the v1(y)v_1(y) slopes of protons and antiprotons.

Forward azimuthal correlations in 200 GeV p+p and d+Au collisions at STAR

Forward particle production and correlation measurements at RHIC can probe low-xx gluons. The suppression observed in back-to-back forward π0π^{0}+forward π0π^{0} correlations at STAR in central d+Au collisions at STAR is consistent with a prediction of the Color Glass Condensate (CGC) calculation, indicating the gold nucleus probed at such low-xx is in a dense gluon state. The forward π0π^{0} + near-forward jet-like cluster azimuthal correlations in 200 GeV p+p and d+Au collisions at STAR are studied, which are sensitive to the intermediate x region between forward+mid-rapidity correlations and forward+forward correlations. Together with the other measurements from STAR, which probe different regions of x, forward+near-forward di-hadron correlations can provide information to understand how sharp is the transition from dilute parton gas to dense gluon state.

Longitudinal and transverse spin asymmetries for inclusive jet production at mid-rapidity in polarized p+p collisions at sqrt{s}=200 GeV

We report STAR measurements of the longitudinal double-spin asymmetry A_LL, the transverse single-spin asymmetry A_N, and the transverse double-spin asymmetries A_Sigma and A_TT for inclusive jet production at mid-rapidity in polarized p+p collisions at a center-of-mass energy of sqrt{s} = 200 GeV. The data represent integrated luminosities of 7.6 /pb with longitudinal polarization and 1.8 /pb with transverse polarization, with 50-55% beam polarization, and were recorded in 2005 and 2006. No evidence is found for the existence of statistically significant jet A_N, A_Sigma, or A_TT at mid-rapidity. Recent model calculations indicate the A_N results may provide new limits on the gluon Sivers distribution in the proton. The asymmetry A_LL significantly improves the knowledge of gluon polarization in the nucleon.

Transverse Single-Spin Asymmetry and Cross-Section for pi0 and eta Mesons at Large Feynman-x in Polarized p+p Collisions at sqrt(s)=200 GeV

Measurements of the differential cross-section and the transverse single-spin asymmetry, A_N, vs. x_F for pi0 and eta mesons are reported for 0.4 < x_F < 0.75 at an average pseudorapidity of 3.68. A data sample of approximately 6.3 pb^{-1} was analyzed, which was recorded during p+p collisions at sqrt{s} = 200 GeV by the STAR experiment at RHIC. The average transverse beam polarization was 56%. The cross-section for pi0 is consistent with a perturbative QCD prediction, and the eta/pi0 cross-section ratio agrees with previous mid-rapidity measurements. For 0.55 < x_F < 0.75, A_N for eta (0.210 +- 0.056) is 2.2 standard deviations larger than A_N for pi0 (0.081 +- 0.016).

Energy and system-size dependence of two- and four-particle v2v_2 measurements in heavy-ion collisions at RHIC and their implications on flow fluctuations and nonflow

We present STAR measurements of azimuthal anisotropy by means of the two- and four-particle cumulants v2v_2 (v2{2}v_2\{2\} and v2{4}v_2\{4\}) for Au+Au and Cu+Cu collisions at center of mass energies sNN=62.4\sqrt{s_{_{\mathrm{NN}}}} = 62.4 and 200 GeV. The difference between v2{2}2v_2\{2\}^2 and v2{4}2v_2\{4\}^2 is related to v2v_{2} fluctuations (σv2σ_{v_2}) and nonflow (δ2)(δ_{2}). We present an upper limit to σv2/v2σ_{v_2}/v_{2}. Following the assumption that eccentricity fluctuations σεσ_ε dominate v2v_2 fluctuations σv2v2≈σεε\frac{σ_{v_2}}{v_2} \approx \frac{σ_ε}ε we deduce the nonflow implied for several models of eccentricity fluctuations that would be required for consistency with v2{2}v_2\{2\} and v2{4}v_2\{4\}. We also present results on the ratio of v2v_2 to eccentricity.

Azimuthal Charged-Particle Correlations and Possible Local Strong Parity Violation

Parity-odd domains, corresponding to non-trivial topological solutions of the QCD vacuum, might be created during relativistic heavy ion collisions. These domains are predicted to lead to charge separation of quarks along the system's orbital momentum axis. We investigate a three particle azimuthal correlator which is a ¶even observable, but directly sensitive to the charge separation effect. We report measurements of charged hadrons near center-of-mass rapidity with this observable in Au+Au and Cu+Cu collisions at sNN\sqrt{s_{NN}}=200 GeV using the STAR detector. A signal consistent with several expectations from the theory is detected. We discuss possible contributions from other effects that are not related to parity violation.

Balance Functions from Au+Au, d+Au, and p+p Collisions at sNN\sqrt{s_{NN}} = 200 GeV

Balance functions have been measured for charged particle pairs, identified charged pion pairs, and identified charged kaon pairs in Au+Au, d+Au, and p+p collisions at sNN\sqrt{s_{NN}} = 200 GeV at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider using the STAR detector. These balance functions are presented in terms of relative pseudorapidity, ΔηΔη, relative rapidity, ΔyΔy, relative azimuthal angle, ΔϕΔϕ, and invariant relative momentum, qinvq_{\rm inv}. In addition, balance functions are shown in terms of the three components of qinvq_{\rm inv}: qlongq_{\rm long}, qoutq_{\rm out}, and qsideq_{\rm side}. For charged particle pairs, the width of the balance function in terms of ΔηΔη scales smoothly with the number of participating nucleons, while HIJING and UrQMD model calculations show no dependence on centrality or system size. For charged particle and charged pion pairs, the balance functions widths in terms of ΔηΔη and ΔyΔy are narrower in central Au+Au collisions than in peripheral collisions. The width for central collisions is consistent with thermal blast-wave models where the balancing charges are highly correlated in coordinate space at breakup. This strong correlation might be explained either by delayed hadronization or by limited diffusion during the reaction. Furthermore, the narrowing trend is consistent with the lower kinetic temperatures inherent to more central collisions. In contrast, the width of the balance function for charged kaon pairs in terms of ΔyΔy shows little centrality dependence, which may signal a different production mechanism for kaons. The widths of the balance functions for charged pions and kaons in terms of qinvq_{\rm inv} narrow in central collisions compared to peripheral collisions, which may be driven by the change in the kinetic temperature.

Charged and strange hadron elliptic flow in Cu+Cu collisions at sNN\sqrt{s_{NN}} = 62.4 and 200 GeV

We present the results of an elliptic flow analysis of Cu+Cu collisions recorded with the STAR detector at 62.4 and 200GeV. Elliptic flow as a function of transverse momentum is reported for different collision centralities for charged hadrons and strangeness containing hadrons KS0K_{S}^{0}, ΛΛ, ΞΞ, ϕϕ in the midrapidity region ∣eta∣<1.0|eta|<1.0. Significant reduction in systematic uncertainty of the measurement due to non-flow effects has been achieved by correlating particles at midrapidity, ∣η∣<1.0|η|<1.0, with those at forward rapidity, 2.5<∣η∣<4.02.5<|η|<4.0. We also present azimuthal correlations in p+p collisions at 200 GeV to help estimating non-flow effects. To study the system-size dependence of elliptic flow, we present a detailed comparison with previously published results from Au+Au collisions at 200 GeV. We observe that v2v_{2}(pTp_{T}) of strange hadrons has similar scaling properties as were first observed in Au+Au collisions, i.e.: (i) at low transverse momenta, pT<2GeV/cp_T<2GeV/c, v2v_{2} scales with transverse kinetic energy, mT−mm_{T}-m, and (ii) at intermediate pTp_T, 2<pT<4GeV/c2<p_T<4GeV/c, it scales with the number of constituent quarks, nqn_q. We have found that ideal hydrodynamic calculations fail to reproduce the centrality dependence of v2v_{2}(pTp_{T}) for KS0K_{S}^{0} and ΛΛ. Eccentricity scaled v2v_2 values, v2/εv_{2}/ε, are larger in more central collisions, suggesting stronger collective flow develops in more central collisions. The comparison with Au+Au collisions which go further in density shows v2/εv_{2}/ε depend on the system size, number of participants NpartN_{part}. This indicates that the ideal hydrodynamic limit is not reached in Cu+Cu collisions, presumably because the assumption of thermalization is not attained.

Dijet Cross Section and Longitudinal Double Spin Asymmetry Measurements in Polarized Proton-proton Collisions at \sqrt{s}=200 GeV at STAR

These proceedings show the preliminary results of the dijet cross sections and the dijet longitudinal double spin asymmetries A_LL in polarized proton-proton collisions at \sqrt{s} = 200 GeV at the mid-rapidity |eta| < 0.8. The integrated luminosity of 5.39 pb^{-1} collected during RHIC Run-6 was used in the measurements. The preliminary results are presented as functions of the dijet invariant mass M_jj. The dijet cross sections are in agreement with next-to-leading-order pQCD predictions. The A_LL is compared with theoretical predictions based on various parameterizations of polarized parton distributions of the proton. Projected precision of data analyzed to date from Run-9 are shown.

Inclusive pi^0, eta, and direct photon production at high transverse momentum in p+p and d+Au collisions at sqrt(s_NN) = 200 GeV

We report a measurement of high-p_T inclusive pi^0, eta, and direct photon production in p+p and d+Au collisions at sqrt(s_NN) = 200 GeV at midrapidity (0 < eta < 1). Photons from the decay pi^0 -> gamma gamma were detected in the Barrel Electromagnetic Calorimeter of the STAR experiment at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. The eta -> gamma gamma decay was also observed and constituted the first eta measurement by STAR. The first direct photon cross section measurement by STAR is also presented, the signal was extracted statistically by subtracting the pi^0, eta, and omega(782) decay background from the inclusive photon distribution observed in the calorimeter. The analysis is described in detail, and the results are found to be in good agreement with earlier measurements and with next-to-leading order perturbative QCD calculations.

Observation of an Antimatter Hypernucleus

Nuclear collisions recreate conditions in the universe microseconds after the Big Bang. Only a very small fraction of the emitted fragments are light nuclei, but these states are of fundamental interest. We report the observation of antihypertritons - composed of an antiproton, antineutron, and antilambda hyperon - produced by colliding gold nuclei at high energy. Our analysis yields 70 +- 17 antihypertritons and 157 +- 30 hypertritons. The measured yields of hypertriton (antihypertriton) and helium3 (antihelium3) are similar, suggesting an equilibrium in coordinate and momentum space populations of up, down, and strange quarks and antiquarks, unlike the pattern observed at lower collision energies. The production and properties of antinuclei, and nuclei containing strange quarks, have implications spanning nuclear/particle physics, astrophysics, and cosmology.

Strange and Multi-strange Particle Production in Au+Au Collisions at sNN\sqrt{s_{NN}} = 62.4 GeV

We present results on strange and multi-strange particle production in Au+Au collisions at sNN=62.4\sqrt{s_{NN}}=62.4 GeV as measured with the STAR detector at RHIC. Mid-rapidity transverse momentum spectra and integrated yields of KS0K^{0}_{S}, ΛΛ, ΞΞ, ΩΩ and their anti-particles are presented for different centrality classes. The particle yields and ratios follow a smooth energy dependence. Chemical freeze-out parameters, temperature, baryon chemical potential and strangeness saturation factor obtained from the particle yields are presented. Intermediate transverse momentum (pTp_T) phenomena are discussed based on the ratio of the measured baryon-to-meson spectra and nuclear modification factor. The centrality dependence of various measurements presented show a similar behavior as seen in Au+Au collisions at sNN=200\sqrt{s_{NN}}=200 GeV.

Long range rapidity correlations and jet production in high energy nuclear collisions

The STAR Collaboration at RHIC presents a systematic study of high transverse momentum charged di-hadron correlations at small azimuthal pair separation \dphino, in d+Au and central Au+Au collisions at $\rts = 200$ GeV. Significant correlated yield for pairs with large longitudinal separation \deta is observed in central Au+Au, in contrast to d+Au collisions. The associated yield distribution in \detano×\times\dphi can be decomposed into a narrow jet-like peak at small angular separation which has a similar shape to that found in d+Au collisions, and a component which is narrow in \dphi and \textcolor{black}{depends only weakly on} $\deta$, the "ridge". Using two systematically independent analyses, \textcolor{black}{finite ridge yield} is found to persist for trigger $\pt > 6$ \GeVc, indicating that it is correlated with jet production. The transverse momentum spectrum of hadrons comprising the ridge is found to be similar to that of bulk particle production in the measured range ($2 < \pt < 4 \GeVc$).

Longitudinal double-spin asymmetry and cross section for inclusive neutral pion production at midrapidity in polarized proton collisions at sqrt(s) = 200 GeV

We report a measurement of the longitudinal double-spin asymmetry A_LL and the differential cross section for inclusive Pi0 production at midrapidity in polarized proton collisions at sqrt(s) = 200 GeV. The cross section was measured over a transverse momentum range of 1 < p_T < 17 GeV/c and found to be in good agreement with a next-to-leading order perturbative QCD calculation. The longitudinal double-spin asymmetry was measured in the range of 3.7 < p_T < 11 GeV/c and excludes a maximal positive gluon polarization in the proton. The mean transverse momentum fraction of Pi0's in their parent jets was found to be around 0.7 for electromagnetically triggered events.

Measurement of D* Mesons in Jets from p+p Collisions at sqrt{s} = 200 GeV

We report the measurement of charged D∗D^* mesons in inclusive jets produced in proton-proton collisions at a center of mass energy s\sqrt{s} = 200 GeV with the STAR experiment at RHIC. For D∗D^{*} mesons with fractional momenta 0.2<z<0.50.2 < z < 0.5 in inclusive jets with 11.5 GeV mean transverse energy, the production rate is found to be N(D∗++D∗−)/N(jet)=0.015±0.008(stat)±0.007(sys)N(D^{*+}+D^{*-})/N(\mathrm{jet}) = 0.015 \pm 0.008 (\mathrm{stat}) \pm 0.007 (\mathrm{sys}). This rate is consistent with perturbative QCD evaluation of gluon splitting into a pair of charm quarks and subsequent hadronization.

Pion Interferometry in Au+Au and Cu+Cu Collisions at sNN\sqrt{s_{\rm{NN}}} = 62.4 and 200 GeV

We present a systematic analysis of two-pion interferometry in Au+Au collisions at sNN\sqrt{s_{\rm{NN}}} = 62.4 GeV and Cu+Cu collisions at sNN\sqrt{s_{\rm{NN}}} = 62.4 and 200 GeV using the STAR detector at RHIC. The multiplicity and transverse momentum dependences of the extracted correlation lengths (radii) are studied. The scaling with charged particle multiplicity of the apparent system volume at final interaction is studied for the RHIC energy domain. The multiplicity scaling of the measured correlation radii is found to be independent of colliding system and collision energy.

Studying Parton Energy Loss in Heavy-Ion Collisions via Direct-Photon and Charged-Particle Azimuthal Correlations

Charged-particle spectra associated with direct photon (γdirγ_{dir} ) and π0π^0 are measured in pp+pp and Au+Au collisions at center-of-mass energy sNN=200\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}=200 GeV with the STAR detector at RHIC. A hower-shape analysis is used to partially discriminate between γdirγ_{dir} and π0π^0. Assuming no associated charged particles in the γdirγ_{dir} direction (near side) and small contribution from fragmentation photons (γfragγ_{frag}), the associated charged-particle yields opposite to γdirγ_{dir} (away side) are extracted. At mid-rapidity (∣η∣<0.9|η|<0.9) in central Au+Au collisions, charged-particle yields associated with γdirγ_{dir} and π0π^0 at high transverse momentum (8<pTtrig<168< p_{T}^{trig}<16 GeV/cc) are suppressed by a factor of 3-5 compared with pp + pp collisions. The observed suppression of the associated charged particles, in the kinematic range ∣η∣<1|η|<1 and 3<pTassoc<163< p_{T}^{assoc} < 16 GeV/cc, is similar for γdirγ_{dir} and π0π^0, and independent of the γdirγ_{dir} energy within uncertainties. These measurements indicate that the parton energy loss, in the covered kinematic range, is insensitive to the parton path length.

Yields and elliptic flow of d(dˉ)d(\bar{d}) and 3He(3Heˉ)^{3}He(\bar{^{3}He}) in Au+Au collisions at sNN=\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}} = 200 GeV

We present the pTp_{T} spectra, elliptic flow (v2v_2) and coalescence parameters B2B_{2} for dd, dˉ\bar{d} (1<pT<41<p_{T}<4 GeV/c) and B3B_{3} for 3He^{3}He, 3Heˉ\bar{^{3}He} (2<pT<62<p_{T}<6 GeV/c) produced at mid-rapidity in Au+Au col lisions at sNN=200\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}} = 200 GeV. The results are measured in the STAR experiment at RHIC. The spectra of the light nuclei show softer pTp_T distributions than calculations from a blast-wave model in which the parameters were fixed from pion, kaon and proton v2v_2(pTp_T) and pTp_T distributions. The coalescence volume is found to track with pion HBT re sults for different collision geometries. The v2v_2 measurement for d(d‾)d(\overline{d}) as a function of transverse momentum pTp_T is found to follow an approximate atomic mass number (AA) scaling while that of 3He(3Heˉ)^{3}He(\bar{^{3}He}) deviates slightly from the scaling. A negative v2v_{2} has been observed for dˉ\bar{d} at low pTp_{T}, consiste nt with large radial flow in Au+Au collisions.

Mass, quark-number, and sNN\sqrt{s_{NN}} dependence of the second and fourth flow harmonics in ultra-relativistic nucleus-nucleus collisions

We present STAR measurements of the azimuthal anisotropy parameter v2v_2 for pions, kaons, protons, ΛΛ, Λˉ\barΛ, Ξ+ΞˉΞ+\barΞ, and Ω+ΩˉΩ+ \barΩ, along with v4v_4 for pions, kaons, protons, and Λ+ΛˉΛ+ \barΛ at mid-rapidity for Au+Au collisions at sNN=62.4\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}=62.4 and 200 GeV. The v2(pT)v_2(p_T) values for all hadron species at 62.4 GeV are similar to those observed in 130 and 200 GeV collisions. For observed kinematic ranges, v2v_2 values at 62.4, 130, and 200 GeV are as little as 10%--15% larger than those in Pb+Pb collisions at sNN=17.3\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}=17.3 GeV. At intermediate transverse momentum (pTp_T from 1.5--5 GeV/c), the 62.4 GeV v2(pT)v_2(p_T) and v4(pT)v_4(p_T) values are consistent with the quark-number scaling first observed at 200 GeV. A four-particle cumulant analysis is used to assess the non-flow contributions to pions and protons and some indications are found for a smaller non-flow contribution to protons than pions. Baryon v2v_2 is larger than anti-baryon v2v_2 at 62.4 and 200 GeV perhaps indicating either that the initial spatial net-baryon distribution is anisotropic, that the mechanism leading to transport of baryon number from beam- to mid-rapidity enhances v2v_2, or that anti-baryon and baryon annihilation is larger in the in-plane direction.

Strange baryon resonance production in sNN=200\sqrt{s_{NN}} = 200 GeV p+pp+p and Au+AuAu+Au collisions

We report the measurements of Σ(1385)Σ(1385) and Λ(1520)Λ(1520) production in p+pp+p and Au+AuAu+Au collisions at sNN=200\sqrt{s_{NN}} = 200 GeV from the STAR collaboration. The yields and the pTp_{T} spectra are presented and discussed in terms of chemical and thermal freeze-out conditions and compared to model predictions. Thermal and microscopic models do not adequately describe the yields of all the resonances produced in central Au+AuAu+Au collisions. Our results indicate that there may be a time-span between chemical and thermal freeze-out during which elastic hadronic interactions occur.

Proton - Lambda correlations in Au-Au Collisions at sNN=200\sqrt{s_{NN}} = 200 GeV from the STAR experiment

The space-time evolution of the source of particles formed in the collision of nuclei can be studied through particle correlations. The STAR experiment is dedicated to study ultra-relativistic heavy ions collisions and allows to measure non-identical strange particle correlations. The source size can be extracted by studying p−Λp-Λ, pˉ−Λˉ\bar{p}-\barΛ, pˉ−Λ\bar{p}-Λ and p−Λˉp-\barΛ correlation functions. Strong interaction potential has been studied for these systems using an analytical model. Final State Interaction (FSI) parameters have been determined and has shown a significant annihilation process present in pˉ−Λ\bar{p}-Λ and p−Λˉp-\barΛ systems not present in p−Λp-Λ and pˉ−Λˉ\bar{p}-\barΛ.

Elliptic flow in Au+Au collisions at sNN\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}} = 130 GeV

We report the elliptic flow of charged and identified particles at mid-rapidity in Au+Au collisions at sNN=130\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}=130 GeV using the STAR TPC at RHIC. The integrated elliptic flow signal, v2v_2, for charged particles reaches values of about 0.06, indicating a higher degree of thermalization than at lower energies. The differential elliptic flow signal, v2v_2(ptp_t) up to 1.5 GeV/cc, shows a behavior expected from hydrodynamic model calculations. Above 1.5 GeV/cc, the data deviate from the hydro predictions; however the v2v_2(ptp_t) is still large, suggesting finite asymmetry for the products of hard scattering. For the identified particles, elliptic flow as a function of ptp_t and centrality differ significantly for particles of different masses. This dependence can be accounted for in hydrodynamic models, indicating that the system created shows a behavior consistent with collective hydrodynamical flow.

Resonance Studies at STAR

We report on the observed signals of K⋆0(892)→πK{K^{\star0}(892)}\toπK and ϕ(1020)→K+K−ϕ(1020)\to K^{+}K^{-} using the mixed-event method with powerful statistics from the large acceptance and highly efficient STAR TPC. Preliminary results from the first observation of such states from the year-one STAR data in sNN=130\sqrt{s_{NN}}=130 GeV Au-Au collisions are presented. The K⋆0/h−K^{\star0}/h^{-} ratios with an assumed K⋆0K^{\star0} pTp_{T} inverse slope of 300MeV are compatible with that from pp at ISR. For 14% central Au+Au collisions, we observe K⋆0/h−=0.060±0.007(stat)K^{\star0}/h^{-}=0.060\pm0.007(stat) and K⋆0ˉ/h−=0.058±0.007(stat)\bar{K^{\star0}}/h^{-}=0.058\pm0.007(stat). We show that Λˉ/Λ=0.77±0.07(stat)\barΛ/Λ=0.77\pm0.07(stat) from this method is consistent with the measurement via decay topology.
