Osculating-type Ruled Surfaces in the Euclidean 3-space

In the present paper, a new type of ruled surfaces called osculating-type (OT)-ruled surface is introduced and studied. First, a new orthonormal frame is defined for OT-ruled surfaces. The Gaussian and the mean curvatures of these surfaces are obtained and the conditions for an OT-surface to be flat or minimal are given. Moreover, the Weingarten map of an OT-ruled surface is obtained and the normal curvature, the geodesic curvature and the geodesic torsion of any curve lying on surface are obtained. Finally, some examples related to helices and slant helices are introduced.

Mannheim Curves in the three-dimensional Sphere

Mannheim curves are defined for immersed curves in 3-dimensional sphere S^3 . The definition is given by considering the geodesics of S^3. First, two special geodesics, called principal normal geodesic and binormal geodesic, of S^3 are defined by using Frenet vectors of a curve immersed in S^3. Later, the curve alpha is called a Mannheim curve if there exits another curve beta in S^3 such that the principal normal geodesics of beta coincide with the binormal geodesics of S^3 . It is obtained that if alpha and beta form a Mannheim pair then there exist a constant lambda that is not equal 0 and a non-constant function Mu such that Lambda.(kappa_alpha)+M(Tau_alpha)=1 where kappa_alpha, Tau_alpha are the curvatures of alpha. Moreover, the relation between a Mannheim curve immersed in S^3 and a generalized Mannheim curve in E^4 is obtained and a table containing comparison of Bertrand and Mannheim curves in S^3 is introduced.

Dual Smarandache Curves and Smarandache Ruled Surfaces

In this paper, by considering dual geodesic trihedron (dual Darboux frame) we define dual Smarandache curves lying fully on dual unit sphere S^2 and corresponding to ruled surfaces. We obtain the relationships between the elements of curvature of dual spherical curve (ruled surface) x(s) and its dual Smarandache curve (Smarandache ruled surface) x1(s) and we give an example for dual Smarandache curves of a dual spherical curve.

Some Characterizations of Mannheim Partner Curves in Minkowski 3-space

In this paper, we give the characterizations of Mannheim Partner Curves in Minkowski 3-space . Firstly, we classify these curves in . Next, we give some relationships characterizing these curves and we show that Mannheim theorem is not valid for Mannheim partner curves in . Moreover, by considering the spherical indicatrix of the Frénet vectors of those curves, we obtain some new relationships between the curvatures and torsions of the Mannheim partner curves in .

Mannheim Partner D-Curves in Euclidean 3-space

In this paper we consider the idea of Mannheim partner curves for curves lying on surfaces and by considering the Darboux frames of them we define these curves as Mannheim partner D-curves and give the characterizations for these curves. We also find the relations between the geodesic curvatures, the normal curvatures and the geodesic torsions of these associated curves. Furthermore, we show that the definition and the characterizations of Mannheim partner D-curves include those of Mannheim partner curves in some special cases.

Mannheim Partner D-Curves in Minkowski 3-space

In this paper, we give the definition, different types and characterizations of Mannheim partner D-curves in Minkowski 3-space. We find the relations between the geodesic curvatures, the normal curvatures and the geodesic torsions of these associated curves. Furthermore, we show that the definition and the characterizations of Mannheim partner D-curves include those of Mannheim partner curves in some special cases in Minkowski 3-space.
