Regulators on some abelian coverings of $\mathbb{P}^1$ minus $n+2$ points

In this paper, we construct certain rational or integral elements in the motivic cohomology of superelliptic curves which are quotient curves of abelian coverings of $\mathbb{P}^1$ minus $n+2$ points, and prove that these elements are non-trivial by expressing their regulators in terms of Appell-Lauricella hypergeometric functions. We also check that such elements are integral under a mild assumption. We also give various numerical examples for the Beilinson conjecture on special values of $L$-functions of the superelliptic curves by using hypergeometric expressions.

Equidistribution theorems for holomorphic Siegel cusp forms of general degree: the level aspect

We prove equidistribution theorems for a family of holomorphic Siegel cusp forms of general degree in the level aspect. Our main contribution is to estimate unipotent contributions for general degree in the geometric side of Arthur's invariant trace formula in terms of Shintani zeta functions. Several applications including the vertical Sato-Tate theorem and low-lying zeros for standard $L$-functions of holomorphic Siegel cusp forms are discussed. We also show that the "non-genuine forms" which come from non-trivial endoscopic contributions by Langlands functoriality classified by Arthur are negligible.

Isogeny graphs on superspecial abelian varieties: Eigenvalues and Connection to Bruhat-Tits buildings

We study for each fixed integer $g \ge 2$, for all primes $\ell$ and $p$ with $\ell \neq p$, finite regular directed graphs associated with the set of equivalence classes of $\ell$-marked principally polarized superspecial abelian varieties of dimension $g$ in characteristic $p$, and show that the adjacency matrices have real eigenvalues with spectral gaps independent of $p$. This implies a rapid mixing property of natural random walks on the family of isogeny graphs beyond the elliptic curve case and suggests a potential construction of the Charles-Goren-Lauter type cryptographic hash functions for abelian varieties. We give explicit lower bounds for the gaps in terms of the Kazhdan constant for the symplectic group when $g \ge 2$, and discuss optimal values in view of the theory of automorphic representations when $g=2$. As a by-product, we also show that the finite regular directed graphs constructed by Jordan-Zaytman also has the same property.

Period of the Ikeda type lift for $E_{7,3}$

In our previous work, he second and the third named authors constructed the Ikeda type lift for the exceptional group $E_{7,3}$ from an elliptic modular cusp form. In this paper, we prove an explicit formula for the period or the Petersson norm of the Ikeda type lift in terms of the product of the special values of the symmetric square $L$-function of the elliptic modular form. There are similar works done by the first author with his collaborator, but new technical inputs are required and developed to overcome some difficulties coming from the hugeness of $E_{7,3}$.

Serre weights for $GSp_4$ over totally real fields

We prove the existence of a potentially diagonalizable lift of a given automorphic mod $p$ Galois representation $\overlineρ:{\rm Gal}(\overline{F}/F)\longrightarrow {\rm GSp}_4(\overline{\mathbb{F}}_p)$ for any totally real field $F$ and any rational prime $p>2$ under the adequacy condition by using automorphic lifting techniques developed by Barnet-Lamb, Gee, Geraghty, and Taylor. As an application, when $p$ is split completely in $F$, we prove a variant of Serre's weight conjecture for $\overlineρ$. The formulation of our Serre conjecture is done by following Toby Gee's philosophy. Applying these results to the case when $F=\mathbb{Q}$ with a detailed study of potentially diagonalizable, crystalline lifts with some prescribed properties, we also define classical (naive) Serre's weights. This weight would be the minimal weight among possible classical weights in some sense which occur in candidates of holomorphic Siegel Hecke eigen cusp forms of degree 2 with levels prime to $p$. The main task is to construct a potentially ordinary automorphic lift for $\overlineρ$ by assuming only the adequacy condition. The main theorems in this paper also extend many results obtained by Barnet-Lamb, Gee and Geraghty for potentially ordinary lifts and Gee and Geraghty for companion forms.

A reformulation of the Siegel series and intersection numbers

In this paper, we will explain a conceptual reformulation and inductive formula of the Siegel series. Using this, we will explain that both sides of the local intersection multiplicities of [GK93] and the Siegel series have the same inherent structures, beyond matching values. As an application, we will prove a new identity between the intersection number of two modular correspondences over Fp and the sum of the Fourier coefficients of the Siegel-Eisenstein series for Sp_4 of weight 2, which is independent of p (> 2). In addition, we will explain a description of the local intersection multiplicities of the special cycles over F_p on the supersingular locus of the `special fiber' of the Shimura varieties for GSpin(n; 2), n<=3 in terms of the Siegel series directly.

An explicit formula for the extended Gross-Keating datum of a quadratic form

In this paper, we give a formula for the extended Gross-Keating datum of a quadratic form defined over a finite extension of $\mathbb{Z}_p$ (for $p>2$) or a finite unramified extension of $\mathbb{Z}_2$. As an application, we describe an explicit formula for the Siegel series for $\mathbb{Z}_p$. We also present the details of algorithms implemented in a Mathematica package to compute the extended Gross-Keating datum and the Siegel series.

An equidistribution theorem for holomorphic Siegel modular forms for $GSp_4$

We prove an equidistribution theorem for a family of holomorphic Siegel cusp forms for $GSp_4/\mathbb{Q}$ in various aspects. A main tool is Arthur's invariant trace formula. While Shin and Shin-Templier used Euler-Poincaré functions at infinity in the formula, we use a pseudo-coefficient of a holomorphic discrete series to extract holomorphic Siegel cusp forms. Then the non-semisimple contributions arise from the geometric side, and this provides new second main terms $A, B_1$ in the main theorem which have not been studied and a mysterious second term $B_2$ also appears in the second main term coming from the semisimple elements. Furthermore our explicit study enables us to treat more general aspects in the weight. We also give several applications including the vertical Sato-Tate theorem, the unboundedness of Hecke fields and low-lying zeros for degree 4 spinor $L$-functions and degree 5 standard $L$-functions of holomorphic Siegel cusp forms.

Artin representations for $GL_n$

Let $π$ be a cuspidal automorphic representation of $GL_n(\mathbb{A}_\mathbb{Q})$ which satisfies certain reasonable assumptions such as integrality of Hecke polynomials, the existence of mod $\ell$ Galois representations attached to $π$. Under Langlands functoriality of exterior $m$-th power $\wedge^m(π)$, $m=2,...,[\frac n2]$, we will construct a unique Artin representation associated to $π$. As a corollary, we obtain that such a cuspidal representation of $GL_n(\mathbb{A}_\mathbb{Q})$ satisfies the Ramanujan conjecture. We also revisit our previous work on Artin representations associated to non-holomorphic Siegel cusp forms of weight (2,1), and show that we can associate non-holomorphic Siegel modular forms of weight $(2,1)$ to Maass forms for $GL_2/\mathbb{Q}$ and cuspidal representations of $GL_2$ over imaginary quadratic fields.

On Prym varieties for the coverings of some singular plane curves

Let $k$ be a field of characteristic zero containing a primitive $n$-th root of unity. Let $C^0_n$ be a singular plane curve of degree $n$ over $k$ admitting an order $n$ automorphism, $n$ nodes as the singularities, and $C_n$ be its normalization. In this paper we study the factors of Prym variety $\mbox{Prym}(\widetilde{C}_n/C_n)$ associated to the double cover $\widetilde{C}_n$ of $C_n$ exactly ramified at the points obtained by the blow-up of the singularities. We provide explicit models of some algebraic curves related to the construction of $\mbox{Prym}(\widetilde{C}_n/C_n)$ as a Prym variety and determine the interesting simple factors other than elliptic curves or hyperelliptic curves with small genus which come up in $J_n$ so that the endomorphism rings contains the totally real field $\mathbb{Q}(ζ_n+ζ^{-1}_n)$.

Artin representations for GSp_4 attached to real analytic Siegel cusp forms of weight (2,1)

Let $F$ be a vector-valued real analytic Siegel cusp eigenform of weight $(2,1)$ with the eigenvalues $-\frac 5{12}$ and 0 for the two generators of the center of the algebra consisting of all $Sp_4(\R)$-invariant differential operators on the Siegel upper half plane of degree 2. Under the assumptions (1) the validity of the transfer of automorphic representations of $GSp_4$ to $GL_4$; (2) the existence of mod $\ell$ Galois representation attached to $F$ and its lift to characteristic zero; (3) rationality of the space consisting of any such $F$; and (4) the integrality of Hecke polynomials of $F$, we construct a unique Artin representation of type $GSp_4$ associated to $F$. Several examples which satisfy these assumptions are given by using various transfers and automorphic descent.

Miyawaki type lift for $GSpin(2,10)$

Let $\frak T_2$ (resp. $\mathfrak{T}$) be the Hermitian symmetric domain of $Spin(2,10)$ (resp. $E_{7,3}$). In the previous work, we constructed holomorphic cusp forms on $\mathfrak{T}$ from elliptic cusp forms with respect to $SL_2(\mathbb{Z})$. By using such cusp forms we construct holomorphic cusp forms on $\mathfrak{T}_2$ which are similar to Miyawaki lift in symplectic groups established by T. Ikeda.

On intermediate Jacobians of cubic threefolds admitting an automorphism of order five

Let $k$ be a field of characteristic zero containing a primitive fifth root of unity. Let $X/k$ be a smooth cubic threefold with an automorphism of order five, then we observe that over a finite extension of the field actually the dihedral group $D_5$ is a subgroup of ${\rm Aut}(X)$. We find that the intermediate Jacobian $J(X)$ of $X$ is isogenous to the product of an elliptic curve $E$ and the self-product of an abelian surface $B$ with real multiplication by $\mathbb{Q}(\sqrt{5})$. We give explicit models of some algebraic curves related to the construction of $J(X)$ as a Prym variety. This includes a two parameter family of curves of genus 2 whose Jacobians are isogenous to the abelian surfaces mentioned as above.

On some Siegel threefold related to the tangent cone of the Fermat quartic surface

Let $Z$ be the quotient of the Siegel modular threefold $\mathcal{A}^{\rm sa}(2,4,8)$ which has been studied by van Geemen and Nygaard. They gave an implication that some 6-tuple $F_Z$ of theta constants which is in turn known to be a Klingen type Eisenstein series of weight 3 should be related to a holomorphic differential $(2,0)$-form on $Z$. The variety $Z$ is birationally equivalent to the tangent cone of Fermat quartic surface in the title. In this paper we first compute the L-function of two smooth resolutions of $Z$. One of these, denoted by $W$, is a kind of Igusa compactification such that the boundary $\partial W$ is a strictly normal crossing divisor. The main part of the L-function is described by some elliptic newform $g$ of weight 3. Then we construct an automorphic representation $Π$ of ${\rm GSp}_2(\A)$ related to $g$ and an explicit vector $E_Z$ sits inside $Π$ which creates a vector valued (non-cuspidal) Siegel modular form of weight $(3,1)$ so that $F_Z$ coincides with $E_Z$ in $H^{2,0}(\partial W)$ under the Poincaré residue map and various identifications of cohomologies.

On the class numbers of the fields of the p^n-torsion points of certain elliptic curves over Q

Let E be an elliptic curve over Q with prime conductor p. For each non-negative integer n we put K_n:=Q(E[p^n]). The aim of this paper is to estimate the order of the p-Sylow group of the ideal class group of K_n. We give a lower bounds in terms of the Mordell-Weil rank of $E(\Q)$. As an application of our result, we give an example such that p^{2n} divides the class number of the field $K_n$ in the case of $p=5077$ for each positive integer n.

Endoscopic lifts to the Siegel modular threefold related to Klein's cubic threefold

Let $A^{lev}_{11}$ be the moduli space of (1,11)-polarized abelian surfaces with level structure of canonical type. Let $χ$ be a finite character of order 5 with conductor 11. In this paper we construct five endoscopic lifts $Π_i,0\le i\le 4$ from two elliptic modular forms $f\otimesχ^i$ of weight 2 and $g\otimesχ^i$ of weight 4 with complex multiplication by $Q(\sqrt{-11})$ such that ${Π_i}_\infty$ gives a non-holomorphic differential form on $A^{lev}_{11}$ for each $i$. Then the spinor L-function is of form $L(f\otimesχ^i,s-1)L(g\otimesχ^i,s)$ such that $L(g\otimesχ^i,s)$ does not appear in the L-function of $A^{lev}_{11}$ for any $i$. The existence of such lifts is motivated by the computation of the L-function of Klein's cubic hypersurface which is a birational smooth model of $A^{lev}_{11}$.

Local newforms and formal exterior square L-functions

Let F be a non-archimedean local field of characteristic zero. Jacquet and Shalika attached a family of zeta integrals to unitary irreducible generic representations $π$ of GL_n(F). In this paper, we show that Jacquet-Shalika integral attains a certain L-function, so called the formal exterior square L-function, when the Whittaker function is associated to a newform for $π$. By consideration on the Galois side, formal exterior square L-functions are equal to exterior square L-functions for some principal series representations.
