Energy Calculation of Pentaquarks Using Thomas Fermi Quark Model: A Theoretical Study

The possible existence of a family of $uudc\overline{c}$ pentaquark system was explored through the application of Thomas Fermi Quark Model on the system. Considering a pocket of pentaquark contains $5$ quarks, the density functions, and energies of $10$ different pockets of pentaquarks were studied. Out of these $10$ different pockets, a single pocket of pentaquark was found to be more stable as its total energy was lowest compared to others. The kinetic, potential, and volume energies of all pockets of pentaquarks were calculated and the nature of the plots was investigated. The plots displayed an increasing trend for all energies except for kinetic energy, which exhibited a decreasing pattern.

Investigation of Quark Distributions in a Family of Pentaquarks using the Thomas-Fermi Quark Model

Using the Thomas-Fermi quark model, a collective, spherically symmetric density of states is created to represent a gas of interacting fermions with various degeneracies at zero temperature. Over a family of multi-pentaquarks, color interaction probabilities are obtained after averaging over all the possible configurations. It is found that three different Thomas-Fermi functions are necessary for light, charm, and anti-charm quarks. These are assumed to be linearly related by proportionality constants resulting in consistency conditions. We analyze these conditions and find that they lead to an interesting pattern of spherical quark distributions.

Multiquark States in the Thomas-Fermi Quark Model and on the Lattice

We describe work being done at Baylor University investigating the possibility of new states of mesonic matter containing two or more quark-antiquark pairs. To put things in context, we begin by describing the lattice approach to hadronic physics. We point out there is a need for a quark model which can give an overall view of the quark interaction landscape. A new application of the Thomas-Fermi (TF) statistical quark model is described, similar to a previous application to baryons. The main usefulness of this model will be to detect systematic energy trends in the composition of the various particles. It could be a key to identifying {\it families} of bound states, rather than individual cases. Numerical results based upon a set of parameters derived from a phenomenological model of tetraquarks are given.

New Noise Subtraction Methods in Lattice QCD

Noise subtraction techniques can help reduce the statistical uncertainty in the extraction of hard to detect signals. We describe new noise subtraction methods in Lattice QCD which apply to disconnected diagram evaluations. Some of the noise suppression techniques include polynomial quark matrix methods, eigenspectrum deflation methods, and combination methods. Our most promising technique combines polynomial and Hermitian deflation subtraction methods. The overall goal is to improve the efficiency of Lattice QCD noise method algorithms.
