Fluctuation and dissipation in memoryless open quantum evolutions

Von Neumann entropy rate for open quantum systems is, in general, written in terms of entropy production and entropy flow rates, encompassing the second law of thermodynamics. When the open-quantum-system evolution corresponds to a quantum dynamical semigroup, we find a decomposition of the infinitesimal generator of the dynamics, that allows to relate the von Neumann entropy rate with the divergence-based quantum Fisher information, at any time. Applied to quantum Gaussian channels that are dynamical semigroups, our decomposition leads to the quantum analog of the generalized classical de Bruijn identity, thus expressing the quantum fluctuation-dissipation relation in that kind of channels. Finally, from this perspective, we analyze how stationarity arises.

2D Time-frequency interference modelling using stochastic geometry for performance evaluation in Low-Power Wide-Area Networks

In wireless networks, interferences between trans- missions are modelled either in time or frequency domain. In this article, we jointly analyze interferences in the time- frequency domain using a stochastic geometry model assuming the total time-frequency resources to be a two-dimensional plane and transmissions from Internet of Things (IoT) devices time- frequency patterns on this plane. To evaluate the interference, we quantify the overlap between the information packets: provided that the overlap is not too strong, the packets are not necessarily lost due to capture effect. This flexible model can be used for multiple medium access scenarios and is especially adapted to the random time-frequency access schemes used in Low-Power Wide-Area Networks (LPWANs). By characterizing the outage probability and throughput, our approach permits to evaluate the performance of two representative LPWA technologies Sigfox{\textsuperscript \textregistered} and LoRaWA{\textsuperscript \textregistered}.

Generalization of the de Bruijn's identity to general $ϕ$-entropies and $ϕ$-Fisher informations

In this paper, we propose generalizations of the de Bruijn's identities based on extensions of the Shannon entropy, Fisher information and their associated divergences or relative measures. The foundation of these generalizations are the $ϕ$-entropies and divergences of the Csiszá's class (or Salicrú's class) considered within a multidimensional context, included the monodimensional case, and for several type of noisy channels characterized by a more general probability distribution beyond the well-known Gaussian noise. It is found that the gradient and/or the hessian of these entropies or divergences with respect to the noise parameters give naturally rise to generalized versions of the Fisher information or divergence, which are named as the $ϕ$-Fisher information (divergence). The obtained identities can be viewed as further extensions of the classical de Bruijn's identity. Analogously, it is shown that a similar relation holds between the $ϕ$-divergence and a extended mean-square error, named $ϕ$-mean square error, for the Gaussian channel.

On a generalized entropic uncertainty relation in the case of the qubit

We revisit generalized entropic formulations of the uncertainty principle for an arbitrary pair of quantum observables in two-dimensional Hilbert space. Rényi entropy is used as uncertainty measure associated with the distribution probabilities corresponding to the outcomes of the observables. We derive a general expression for the tight lower bound of the sum of Rényi entropies for any couple of (positive) entropic indices (α,β). Thus, we have overcome the Hölder conjugacy constraint imposed on the entropic indices by Riesz-Thorin theorem. In addition, we present an analytical expression for the tight bound inside the square [0 , 1/2] x [0 , 1/2] in the α-βplane, and a semi-analytical expression on the line β= α. It is seen that previous results are included as particular cases. Moreover, we present an analytical but suboptimal bound for any couple of indices. In all cases, we provide the minimizing states.

Rigorous bounds for Renyi entropies of spherically symmetric potentials

The Rényi and Shannon entropies are information-theoretic measures which have enabled to formulate the position-momentum uncertainty principle in a much more adequate and stringent way than the (variance-based) Heisenberg-like relation. Moreover, they are closely related to various energetic density-functionals of quantum systems. Here we find sharp upper bounds to these quantities in terms of the second order moment $\langle r^2\rangle$ for general spherically symmetric potentials, which substantially improve previous results of this type, by means of the Rényi maximization procedure with a covariance constraint due to Costa, Hero and Vignat \cite{CosHer03}. The contributions to these bounds coming from the radial and angular parts of the physical wavefunctions are explicitly given.

Position-momentum uncertainty relations based on moments of arbitrary order

The position-momentum uncertainty-like inequality based on moments of arbitrary order for d-dimensional quantum systems, which is a generalization of the celebrated Heisenberg formulation of the uncertainty principle, is improved here by use of the Renyi-entropy-based uncertainty relation. The accuracy of the resulting lower bound is physico-computationally analyzed for the two main prototypes in d-dimensional physics: the hydrogenic and oscillator-like systems.
