Right handed neutrino production from $Z^\prime$ interactions in forward search experiments

We study two general $U(1)$ extensions of the Standard Model (SM) those generate tiny neutrino masses via the seesaw mechanism after general $U(1)$ breaking. These models predict a new neutral gauge boson ($Z'$) and right-handed neutrinos (RHNs), the latter introduced for anomaly cancellation and neutrino mass generation. In both scenarios, left- and right-handed fermions couple differently to the $Z'$, and RHNs mix with light neutrinos, enabling variety of decay modes. Focusing on the high-luminosity LHC (HL-LHC) and the future FASER2 experiment, we explore RHN pair production from $Z'$ decays in two cases: (i) long-lived $Z'$ decays to visible modes and long-lived RHNs, and (ii) short-lived $Z'$ decays to long-lived RHNs, which further decay visibly inside FASER2. We estimate projected limits on the general $U(1)$ gauge coupling, $Z'$ mass, RHN mass, and light-heavy neutrino mixing for various $U(1)$ charge assignments, and compare them with current experimental bounds.

Diving Deep into Modes of Fact Hallucinations in Dialogue Systems

Knowledge Graph(KG) grounded conversations often use large pre-trained models and usually suffer from fact hallucination. Frequently entities with no references in knowledge sources and conversation history are introduced into responses, thus hindering the flow of the conversation -- existing work attempt to overcome this issue by tweaking the training procedure or using a multi-step refining method. However, minimal effort is put into constructing an entity-level hallucination detection system, which would provide fine-grained signals that control fallacious content while generating responses. As a first step to address this issue, we dive deep to identify various modes of hallucination in KG-grounded chatbots through human feedback analysis. Secondly, we propose a series of perturbation strategies to create a synthetic dataset named FADE (FActual Dialogue Hallucination DEtection Dataset). Finally, we conduct comprehensive data analyses and create multiple baseline models for hallucination detection to compare against human-verified data and already established benchmarks.

Non-planar magnetoactive GES-based solar plasma stability

A laboratory plasma-wall interaction-based astrophysical gravito-electrostatic sheath (GES) model is methodologically applied to study the dynamic stability of the magnetoactive bi-fluidic solar plasma system in the presence of turbulence effect. The spherically symmetric GES-model formalism couples the solar interior plasma (SIP, internally self-gravitating, bounded) and the solar wind plasma (SWP, externally point-gravitating, unbounded) through the diffused solar surface boundary (SSB). A normal spherical mode ansatz results in a generalized linear quadratic dispersion relation depicting the modal fluctuations on both the SIP and SWP scales. A constructive numerical platform reveals the evolution of both dispersive and non-dispersive modal features of the modified-GES mode excitations. The reliability of the derived non-planar dispersion laws is concretized with the help of an exact analytic shape matching the previously reported results founded on the plane-wave approximation. It is found that the thermo-statistical GES stability depends mainly on the magnetic field, equilibrium plasma density, and plasma temperature. It is speculated that the dispersive features are more pronounced in the self-gravitational domains against the electrostatic ones. The magneto-thermal interplay introduces decelerating (accelerating) and destabilizing (stabilizing) influences on the SIP (SWP), and so forth. At last, we briefly indicate the applicability of the proposed analysis to understand diverse helioseismic activities from the collective plasma dynamical viewpoint in accordance with the recent astronomical observational scenarios reported in the literature.

Using Multi-Encoder Fusion Strategies to Improve Personalized Response Selection

Personalized response selection systems are generally grounded on persona. However, there exists a co-relation between persona and empathy, which is not explored well in these systems. Also, faithfulness to the conversation context plunges when a contradictory or an off-topic response is selected. This paper attempts to address these issues by proposing a suite of fusion strategies that capture the interaction between persona, emotion, and entailment information of the utterances. Ablation studies on the Persona-Chat dataset show that incorporating emotion and entailment improves the accuracy of response selection. We combine our fusion strategies and concept-flow encoding to train a BERT-based model which outperforms the previous methods by margins larger than 2.3 % on original personas and 1.9 % on revised personas in terms of hits@1 (top-1 accuracy), achieving a new state-of-the-art performance on the Persona-Chat dataset.

A multi-agent evolutionary robotics framework to train spiking neural networks

A novel multi-agent evolutionary robotics (ER) based framework, inspired by competitive evolutionary environments in nature, is demonstrated for training Spiking Neural Networks (SNN). The weights of a population of SNNs along with morphological parameters of bots they control in the ER environment are treated as phenotypes. Rules of the framework select certain bots and their SNNs for reproduction and others for elimination based on their efficacy in capturing food in a competitive environment. While the bots and their SNNs are given no explicit reward to survive or reproduce via any loss function, these drives emerge implicitly as they evolve to hunt food and survive within these rules. Their efficiency in capturing food as a function of generations exhibit the evolutionary signature of punctuated equilibria. Two evolutionary inheritance algorithms on the phenotypes, Mutation and Crossover with Mutation, are demonstrated. Performances of these algorithms are compared using ensembles of 100 experiments for each algorithm. We find that Crossover with Mutation promotes 40% faster learning in the SNN than mere Mutation with a statistically significant margin.

A simple alternative to the Crystal Ball function

We present a simple alternative to the Crystal Ball function that has an exponential tail stitched to a Gaussian core. It has one parameter less than the Crystal Ball function and, where appropriate, offers more stable fits to peaks that continue into exponential tails. The function may also be extended with two exponential tails on each side of the Gaussian, and this has two parameters less than the corresponding double-shouldered Crystal Ball function. This function has been used to model background and signal processes in a recent Higgs pair production search and may be of versatile use in experimental physics and other fields.
