Dual Fusion Frames

The definition of dual fusion frame presents technical problems related to the domain of the synthesis operator. The notion commonly used is the analogous to the canonical dual frame. Here a new concept of dual is studied in infinite-dimensional separable Hilbert spaces. It extends the commonly used notion and overcomes these technical difficulties. We show that with this definition in many cases dual fusion frames behave similar to dual frames. We exhibit examples of non-canonical dual fusion frames.

An operator based approach to irregular frames of translates

We consider translates of functions in $L^2(\RRd)$ along an irregular set of points. Introducing a notion of pseudo-Gramian function for the irregular case, we obtain conditions for a family of irregular translates to be a Bessel sequence or Riesz sequence. We find a representation of the canonical dual of a frame sequence $\{ϕ( \cdot - λ_k)\}_{k\in \ZZ}$ - where $ϕ$ is a bandlimited function - in terms of its Fourier transform.

Critical Pairs of Sequences of a Mixed Frame Potential

The classical frame potential in a finite dimensional Hilbert space has been introduced by Benedetto and Fickus, who showed that all finite unit-norm tight frames can be characterized as the minimizers of this energy functional. This was the start point of a series of new results in frame theory, related to finding tight frames with determined length. The frame potential has been studied in the traditional setting as well as in the finite-dimensional fusion frame context. In this work we introduce the concept of {\sl mixed frame potential}, which generalizes the notion of the Benedetto-Fickus frame potential. We study properties of this new potential, and give the structure of its critical pairs of sequences on a suitable restricted domain. For a given sequence ${α_m}_{m=1,...,N}$ in $K,$ where $K$ is $\mathbb{R}$ or $\mathbb{C},$ we obtain necessary and sufficient conditions in order to have a dual pair of frames ${f_m}_{m=1,...,N}$, ${g_m}_{m=1,...,N}$ such that $<f_m, g_m>=α_m$ for all $m=1,..., N.$

Frames by Multiplication

In this note we study frame-related properties of a sequence of functions multiplied by another function. In particular we study frame and Riesz basis properties. We apply these results to sets of irregular translates of a bandlimited function $h$ in $L^2(\R^d)$. This is achieved by looking at a set of exponentials restricted to a set $E \subset \R^d$ with frequencies in a countable set $Λ$ and multiplying it by the Fourier transform of a fixed function $h \in L^2(E)$. Using density results due to Beurling, we prove the existence and give ways to construct frames by irregular translates.
