Open charm production and $Λ_{c}^{+}/D^{0}$ ratio in pp and Au+Au collisions at the RHIC

We study open charm hadrons production in pp and Au+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\mathrm{NN}}} = 200$~GeV using an improved a multi-phase transport (AMPT) model. Specifically, we show the transverse-momentum spectra and nuclear modification factors $R_{\mathrm{AA}}$ of $D^{0}$ mesons and $Λ_{c}^{+}$ baryons, as well as the $Λ_{c}^{+}/D^{0}$ ratio in pp and Au+Au collisions. The results obtained from the AMPT model simulations are compared with the STAR experimental data and found to be consistent. We further investigate the $Λ_{c}^{+}/D^{0}$ ratio by evaluating contributions from coalescence, fragmentation, and the combined coalescence+fragmentation mechanisms, and we find that fragmentation alone underestimates the pronounced enhancement in Au+Au relative to pp at low and intermediate $p_{\mathrm{T}}$, whereas the coalescence+fragmentation mechanism reproduces the observed trend significantly better. These results indicate that coalescence plays a key role in charm baryon productions and helps constrain the relative importance of different hadronization mechanisms in the ultra-relativistic nuclear collisions.

A Study of the Properties of the QCD Phase Diagram in High-Energy Nuclear Collisions

With the aim of understanding the phase structure of nuclear matter created in high-energy nuclear collisions at finite baryon density, a beam energy scan program has been carried out at Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC). In this mini-review, most recent experimental results on collectivity, criticality and heavy flavor productions will be discussed. The goal here is to establish the connection between current available data and future heavy-ion collision experiments in a high baryon density region.

An experimental review on elliptic flow of strange and multi-strange hadrons in relativistic heavy ion collisions

Strange hadrons, especially multi-strange hadrons are good probes for the early partonic stage of heavy ion collisions due to their small hadronic cross sections. In this paper, I give a brief review on the elliptic flow measurements of strange and multi-strange hadrons in relativistic heavy ion collisions at Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) and Large Hadron Collider (LHC).

A study of charm quark correlations in ultra-relativistic $p$ + $p$ collisions with PYTHIA

Measurements of heavy flavor quark (charm and bottom) correlations in heavy ion collisions are instrumental to understand the flavor dependence of energy loss mechanisms in hot and dense QCD media. Experimental measurements of these correlations in baseline $p$+$p$ collisions are crucial to understand the contributions of perturbative and non-perturbative QCD processes to the correlation functions and further help in interpreting correlation measurements in heavy ion collisions. In this paper, we investigate $D$-$\bar{D}$ meson correlations and $D$ with one particle from $D$ meson decay daughter correlations using PYTHIA Event Generator in $p$ + $p$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 200, 500 and 5500 GeV. Charm/bottom events are found to contribute mainly to the away side/near side pattern of $D$-electron correlations, respectively. In the energy region of RHIC, $D$-$\bar{D}$ correlations inherit initial $c$-$\bar{c}$ correlations and $B\rightarrow DX$ decay contribution is insignificant. Furthermore, Bottom quark correlations are suggested to be applicable at LHC energy, as the bottom contributions on $D$ related correlations are relatively large.

Elliptic and Triangular Flow of Identified Particles from the AMPT Model at RHIC Energies

The elliptic flow ($v_{2}$) at $\sqrt{s_{\rm NN}} = $ 11.5, 39, and 200 GeV and triangular flow ($v_{3}$) at $\sqrt{s_{\rm NN}} = $ 200 GeV of identified particles ($π^{\pm}, K^{\pm}, K^{0}_{S}, p, \bar{p}, ϕ, Λ$ and $\barΛ$) from 0\%--80\% central Au+Au collisions are analyzed using a multiphase transport (AMPT) model. It is shown that the experimental results from the $η$-sub event plane method can be reproduced with a parton scattering cross section between 1.5 and 3 mb. We also studied the differential and integrated $v_{2}/v_{3}$ ratios and conclude that they are anti-corrected with the parton scattering cross section.

Study of triangular flow $v_3$ in Au+Au and Cu+Cu collisions with a multiphase transport model

We studied the relation between the initial geometry anisotropy and the anisotropic flow in a multiphase transport model (AMPT) for both Au+Au and Cu+Cu collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = 200 GeV. It is found that unlike the elliptic flow $v_2$, little centrality dependence of the triangular flow $v_3$ is observed. After removing the initial geometry effect, $v_3/ε_3$ increases with the transverse particle density, which is similar to $v_2/ε_2$. The transverse momentum ($p_T$) dependence of $v_3$ from identified particles is qualitatively similar to the $p_T$ dependence of $v_2$.

The Study of Noncollectivity by the Forward-Backward Multiplicity Correlation Function

We propose a forward-backward multiplicity correlation function $C^N_{FB}$, which is experimentally accessible, to measure the noncollectivity contribution. We find that $C^N_{FB}$ is sensitive to the jet contribution for the particle-rich case. Surprisingly, it will automatically decrease for the particle-rare case. Our study indicates that similar decreasing trend observed previously is mainly driven by particle scarcity instead of jets. The function is studied in Au+Au collision at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=200$ GeV with a multiphase transport model (AMPT). We find that the jet fraction is about 10% at transverse momentum ($p_T$) around 2.5 GeV/$c$ and reaches up to 30% at 3.5 GeV/$c$. The implication of this study in the investigation of the noncollectivity contribution in elliptic anisotropy parameter $v_2$ is also discussed.
