For a simple Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$ of type $A_n,B_n,C_n$ or $D_n$, we give a characterization of the set of dominant integral weights $λ$ such that for any rational point $μ$ in the fundamental Weyl chamber, $2λ-μ$ is a non-negative rational combination of the simple roots if and only if $V_{mμ}\subseteq V_{mλ}\otimes V_{mλ}$ for some positive integer $m$.
We introduce balanced shifted tableaux, as an analogue of balanced tableaux of Edelman and Greene, from the perspective of root systems of type B and C. We show that they are equinumerous to standard Young tableaux of the corresponding shifted shape by presenting an explicit bijection.
The Newell-Littlewood numbers are tensor product multiplicities of Weyl modules for the classical groups in the stable range. Littlewood-Richardson coefficients form a special case. Klyachko connected eigenvalues of sums of Hermitian matrices to the saturated LR-cone and established defining linear inequalities. We prove analogues for the saturated NL-cone: an eigenvalue interpretation; a minimal list of defining linear inequalities; a description by Extended Horn inequalities, as conjectured in part II of this series; and a factorization of NL-numbers, on the boundary.
