Non-Thermal Leptogenesis in the BLSM with Inverse Seesaw Mechanism

We investigate the viability of non-thermal leptogenesis in the gauged $U(1)_{B-L}$ extension of the Standard Model (BLSM) with an inverse seesaw (ISS) mechanism for neutrino mass generation. In this framework, right-handed neutrinos typically have $\mathcal{O}(1)$ Yukawa couplings, which induce strong washout effects and render conventional thermal leptogenesis ineffective. We demonstrate that a successful baryogenesis scenario can nevertheless be realized through non-thermal leptogenesis, where right-handed neutrinos are produced from the decay of the heavy $B\!-\!L$ Higgs boson $χ$. We explicitly analyze the interplay between the dilution factor $T_R/M_χ$ and the washout parameter characteristic of the ISS, highlighting the tension between suppressing washout effects and maintaining sufficient reheating. We show that a viable lepton asymmetry can be generated provided the scalar mass spectrum is appropriately tuned, allowing for a reduced reheating temperature while keeping washout under control. The resulting lepton asymmetry is efficiently converted into the observed baryon asymmetry of the Universe via sphaleron processes. Our results establish that the inverse-seesaw $B\!-\!L$ model remains a predictive and robust framework for non-thermal leptogenesis and baryogenesis.

Probing Right Handed Neutrino assisted Reheating with Gravitational Waves and Leptogenesis

We investigate a non-instantaneous reheating period in the early Universe, where the inflaton field decays exclusively to right-handed neutrinos (RHNs). The subsequent decay of these RHNs into Standard Model particles not only drives the transition to a radiation-dominated era but also generates the baryon asymmetry of the Universe via leptogenesis. In this typical reheating scenario, gravitational waves (GWs) can be produced during inflaton decay, both through bremsstrahlung and inflaton scattering processes. While GW production via bremsstrahlung dominates near the end of the reheating phase, inflaton scattering leads to a non-negligible GW contribution near the maximum temperature of the Universe. The combined GW spectrum from both decay and scattering processes lies within the sensitivity range of proposed resonant cavity experiments. This framework thus offers a compelling and unified approach to addressing neutrino mass generation, the baryon asymmetry of the Universe via leptogenesis, and probing the dynamics of a non-instantaneous reheating era.

The 28 GeV Dimuon Excess in Lepton Specific 2HDM

We explore the Higgs mass spectrum in a class of Two Higgs Doublet Models (THDMs) in which a scalar SU(2)_L doublet interacts only with quarks, while the second one interacts only with leptons. The spectrum includes two CP-even Higgs bosons, either of which can account for the SM-like Higgs boson, and the spectra involving light Higgs bosons receive strong impacts from the LEP results and the current collider analyses. We find that a consistent spectrum can involve a CP-odd Higgs boson as light as about 10 GeV, while the lightest CP-even Higgs boson cannot be lighter than about 55 GeV when m_A ~ 28 GeV. These analyses can rather bound the low tan beta region which can also accommodate an observed excess in dimuon events at m_mumu ~ 28 GeV. A lepton-specific class of THDMs (LS-THDM) can predict such an excess through A -> mu mu decays, while the solutions can be constrained by the A -> tau tau mode. After constraining the solutions with the consistent ranges of sigma(pp -> bbA -> bb tau tau), a largest excess at about 1.5 sigma at 8 TeV center of mass (COM) energy and 2 sigma at 13 TeV COM is observed for tan beta ~ 12 and m_A ~ 28 GeV in the sigma(pp -> bbA -> bb mu mu) events.

The muon $g-2$ in an Aligned 2-Higgs Doublet Model with Right-Handed Neutrinos

In this note, we show how one can attribute the anomaly currently present in the measurement of the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon ($a_μ$) to the presence of an underlying Aligned 2-Higgs Doublet Model (A2HDM) with Right-Handed (RH) neutrinos, $ν_R$. The effects of the latter scenario are driven by one and two-loop topologies wherein a very light CP-odd neutral Higgs state ($A$) contributes significantly to $a_μ$. Over the region of parameter space of our new physics model which explains the aforementioned anomaly, also consistent with the most recent measurements of the electron anomalous magnetic moment ($a_e$), wherein the charged Higgs state $H^\pm$ plays a similar role, we predict an almost background-free hallmark signature of it, due to $H^\pm A$ production followed by Higgs boson decays yielding multi-$τ$ final states, which can be already be searched for at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC).

Predestined Dark Matter Varieties in the Simplest Left-Right Model

In the simplest left-right extension of the Standard Model of particle interactions with one scalar bidoublet and one $SU(2)_R$ triplet for seesaw Majorana neutrino masses, the addition of a variety of fermion and scalar multiplets automatically makes them stable (predestined) dark matter candidates. We discuss the interplay of this dark ensemble in relic abundance and direct searches.

$R_K$ and $R_{K^*}$ in an Aligned 2HDM with Right-Handed Neutrinos

We consider the possibility to explain the recent $R_K$ and $R_{K ^*}$ anomalies in a 2-Higgs Doublet Model, known as Aligned, combined with a low scale seesaw mechanism generating light neutrino masses and mixings. In this class of models, a large Yukawa coupling allows for significant non-universal leptonic contributions, through box diagrams mediated by charged Higgs bosons and right-handed neutrinos, to the $b \to s \ell^+ \ell^-$ transition that can then account for both $R_K$ and $R_{K^*}$ anomalies.

Beyond SM Physics and searches for SUSY at the LHC

This is the written version of a talk given by S.K. at the $10^{th}$ International Conference on High Energy and Astroparticle, Constantine, Algeria. We briefly review the Standard Model (SM) and the major evidences and main direction of physics beyond the SM (BSM). We introduce supersymmetry, as one of the well-motivated BSM. Basic introduction to Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) is given. We analyze the thermal relic abundance of lightest neutralino, which is the Lightest Supersymmetric Particle (LSP) in the MSSM. We show that the combined Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and relic abundance constraints rule out most of the MSSM parameter space except a very narrow region. We also review non-minimal SUSY model, based on the gauge group $SU(3)_C \times SU(2)_L \times U(1)_Y \times U(1)_{B-L}$ (BLSSM), where an Inverse Seesaw mechanism of light neutrino mass generation is naturally implemented. The phenomenological implications of this type of model at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) are analyzed.

Radiative Symmetry Breaking in Supersymmetric $B-L$ Models with Inverse Seesaw

We study the radiative symmetry breaking of B-L in supersymmetric models with inverse seesaw mechanism. We show that for a wide region of parameter space the radiative corrections can drive the squared mass of the extra Higgs boson from positive initial values at the GUT scale to negative values at the TeV scale, leading to the spontaneous breaking of the B-L symmetry. We also emphasize that in this class of models, unlike the supersymmetric B-L models with type I seesaw, the right-handed sneutrino cannot get a non-zero vacuum expectation value. Therefore, B-L can be radiatively broken while R-parity remains an exact symmetry.

Aspects of moduli stabilization in type IIB string theory

We review moduli stabilization in type IIB string theory compactification with fluxes. We focus on the KKLT and Large Volume Scenario (LVS). We show that the predicted soft SUSY breaking terms in KKLT model are not phenomenological viable. In LVS, the following result for scalar mass, gaugino mass, and trilinear term is obtained: $m_0 =m_{1/2}= - A_0=m_{3/2}$, which may account for Higgs mass limit if $m_{3/2} \sim {\cal O}(1.5)$ TeV. However, in this case the relic abundance of the lightest neutralino can not be consistent with the measured limits. We also study the cosmological consequences of moduli stabilization in both models. In particular, the associated inflation models such as racetrack inflation and Kähler inflation are analyzed. Finally the problem of moduli destabilization and the effect of string moduli backreaction on the inflation models are discussed.

Muon Anomalous Magnetic Moment in SUSY B-L Model with Inverse Seesaw

Motivated by the tension between the Higgs mass and muon g-2 in minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM), we analyze the muon g-2 in supersymmertic B-L extension of the standard model (BLSSM) with inverse seesaw mechanism. In this model, the Higgs mass receives extra important radiative corrections proportional to large neutrino Yukawa coupling. We point out that muon g-2 also gets significant contribution, due to the constructive interferences of light neutralino effects. The light neutralinos are typically the MSSM Bino like and the supersymmetric partner of U(1)_B-L gauge boson (B'-ino). We show that with universal soft supersymmetry breaking terms, the muon g-2 resides within 2 sigma of the measured value, namely ~17 x 10^-10, with Higgs mass equal to 125 GeV .

Single Field Inflation in Supergravity with a $U(1)$ Gauge Symmetry

A single field inflation based on a supergravity model with a shift symmetry and $U(1)$ extension of the MSSM is analyzed. We show that one of the real components of the two $U(1)$ charged scalar fields plays the role of inflaton {with} an effective scalar potential similar to the "new chaotic inflation" scenario. Both non-anomalous and anomalous (with Fayet-Iliopoulos term) $U(1)$ are studied. We show that the non-anomalous $U(1)$ scenario is consistent with data of the cosmic microwave background and recent astrophysical measurements. A possible kinetic mixing between $U(1)$ {and} $U(1)_{B-L}$ is considered in order to allow for natural decay channels of the inflaton, leading to a reheating epoch. Upper limits on the reheating temperature thus turn out to favour an intermediate ($\sim {\cal O}(10^{13})$ GeV) scale $B-L$ symmetry breaking.

Warm Dark Matter in B-L Inverse Seesaw

We show that a standard model gauge singlet fermion field, with mass of order keV or larger, and involved in the inverse seesaw mechanism of light neutrino mass generation, can be a good warm dark matter candidate. Our framework is based on B-L extension of the Standard Model. The construction ensures the absence of any mixing between active neutrinos and the aforementioned dark matter field. This circumvents the usual constraints on the mass of warm dark matter imposed by X-ray observations. We show that over-abundance of thermally produced warm dark matter (which nevertheless do not reach chemical equilibrium) can be reduced to an acceptable range in the presence of a moduli field decaying into radiation --- though only when the reheat temperature is low enough. Our warm dark matter candidate can also be produced directly from the decay of the moduli field during reheating. In this case, obtaining the right amount of relic abundance, while keeping the reheat temperature high enough as to be consistent with Big Bang nucleosynthesis bounds, places constraints on the branching ratio for the decay of the moduli field into dark matter.

Fermion masses and mixing in $Δ(27)$ flavour model

An extension of the Standard Model (SM) based on the non-Abelian discrete group $Δ(27)$ is considered. The $Δ(27)$ flavour symmetry is spontaneously broken only by gauge singlet scalar fields, therefore our model is free from any flavour changing neural current. We show that the model accounts simultaneously for the observed quark and lepton masses and their mixing. In the quark sector, we find that the up quark mass matrix is flavour diagonal and the Cabbibo-Kobayashi-Maskawa (CKM) mixing matrix arises from down quarks. In the lepton sector, we show that the charged lepton mass matrix is almost diagonal. We also adopt type-I seesaw mechanism to generate neutrino masses. A deviated mixing matrix from tri-bimaximal Maki-Nakagawa-Sakata (MNS), with $\sinθ_{13} \sim 0.13$ and $\sin^2 θ_{23} \sim 0.41$, is naturally produced.

Light sfermion interplay in the 125 GeV MSSM Higgs production and decay at the LHC

We study the effects from light sfermions on the lightest Higgs boson production and decay at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) within the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM). We find that the scenario with light coloured sfermions -- stops or sbottoms -- has the potential to explain a non-universal alteration, as hinted by LHC data, of the gluon-gluon Fusion ($μ_{ggF}$) with respect to the Vector Boson Fusion ($μ_{VBF}$) event rates and, in particular, can predict $\frac{μ_{VBF}}{μ_{ggF}}>1$ for all Higgs boson decay channels in large areas of the parameter space. We also find that the scenario with a light stop/sbottom can be complemented by the scenario in which the total Higgs width, $Γ_{\rm tot}$, is reduced due to a suppressed Yukawa coupling $Y_b$. In this case, the reduction of the Higgs production rates in the $ggF$ process which occurs in the maximal mixing scenario is compensated by the reduction of the $H\to b\bar{b}$ partial decay width, the largest component of $Γ_{\rm tot}$. Furthermore, we highlight the fact that, in the light stop/sbottom scenario, event rates with the Higgs boson decaying to a $b\bar{b}$ final state are predicted to be essentially below unity. Therefore, during the future LHC runs, the measurement of $h\to b\bar{b}$ final states is a matter of special importance. Amongst all viable MSSM configurations that we study (including revisiting a light stau solution), we emphasise most the scenario with a light stop, as the latter is also motivated by Dark Matter and Electro-Weak baryogenesis. We also perform fits of the MSSM against the LHC data, emphasising the fact that in most cases these are better than for the SM.

Predictions for $B \to τ\barμ + μ\barτ $

The observation of $B \to τ\barμ + μ\barτ $ at present experiments would be a clear sign of new physics. In this paper we calculate this process in a 2HDM framework where the decay is mediated by the exchange of spin zero particle with flavour changing neutral current couplings. If we identify the scalar with the the newly discovered state at LHC with a mass $% \sim 125 $ GeV then we get $BR(B_s \to τ\barμ + μ\barτ) \sim 10^{-6}$ and $BR(B_d \to τ\barμ + μ\barτ) \sim 10^{-7}$. We also calculate this process in minimal supersymmetric standard model and find $BR(B_s \to τ\barμ + μ\barτ) \sim 10^{-11}$.

CP Phases of Neutrino Mixing in a Supersymmetric B-L Gauge Model with T_7 Lepton Flavor Symmetry

In a recently proposed renormalizable model of neutrino mixing using the non-Abelian discrete symmetry T_7 in the context of a supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model with gauged U(1)_{B-L}, a correlation was obtained between θ_{13} and θ_{23} in the case where all parameters are real. Here we consider all parameters to be complex, thus allowing for one Dirac CP phase δ_{CP} and two Majorana CP phases α_{1,2}. We find a slight modification to this correlation as a function of δ_{CP}. For a given set of input values of Δm^2_{21}, Δm^2_{32}, θ_{12}, and θ_{13}, we obtain \sin^2 2 θ_{23} and m_{ee} (the effective Majorana neutrino mass in neutrinoless double beta decay) as functions of \tan δ_{CP}. We find that the structure of this model always yields small |\tan δ_{CP}|.

Neutrino Spin Flavor Precession and Leptogenesis

We argue that ΔL=2 neutrino spin flavor precession, induced by the primordial magnetic fields, could have a significant impact on the leptogenesis process that accounts for the baryon asymmetry of the universe. Although the extra galactic magnetic fields is extremely weak at present time (about 10^{-9} Gauss), the primordial magnetic filed at the electroweak scale could be quite strong (of order 10^{17} Gauss). Therefore, at this scale, the effects of the spin flavor precession are not negligible. We show that the lepton asymmetry may be reduced by 50% due to the spin flavor precession. In addition, the leptogenesis will have different feature from the standard scenario of leptogenesis, where the lepton asymmetry continues to oscillate even after the electroweak phase transition.

Smooth Hybrid Inflation and Non-Thermal Type II Leptogenesis

We consider a smooth hybrid inflation scenario based on a supersymmetric SU(2)_L x SU(2)_R x U(1)_B-L model. The Higgs triplets involved in the model play a key role in inflation as well as in explaining the observed baryon asymmetry of the universe. We show that the baryon asymmetry can originate via non-thermal triplet leptogenesis from the decay of SU(2)_L triplets, whose tiny vacuum expectation values also provide masses for the light neutrinos.

Dimuon CP Asymmetry in B Decays and Wjj Excess in Two Higgs Doublet Models

We analyze the puzzle of the dimuon CP asymmetry in B_s decays in two Higgs doublet models. We show that the flavor changing neutral current (FCNC) induced by the Higgs coupling in a type III two Higgs doublet model provides a solution to the dimuon charge asymmetry puzzle by enhancing the absorbtive part of the mixing amplitude Γ_{12}^s. We investigate different experimental constraints and show that it is possible to enhance Γ_{12}^s in order to explain the dimuon asymmetry observed by D0. This enhancement requires large Higgs couplings to the first and second generations of quarks which may also explain the recent 3.2 σWjj excess observed by CDF.

Like-sign dimuon charge asymmetry in Randall-Sundurm model

We confirm that in order to account for the recent DØ result of large like-sign dimuon charge asymmetry, a considerable large new physics effect in $Γ_{12}^s$ is required in addition to a large CP violating phase in $B_s -\bar{B}_s$ mixing. In the Randall-Sundrum model of warped geometry, where the fermion fields reside in the bulk, new sources of flavor and CP violation are obtained. We analyze the like-sign dimuon asymmetry in this class of model, as an example of the desired new physics. We show that the wrong charge asymmetry, $a_{sl}^s$, which is related to the dimuon asymmetry, is significantly altered compared to the Standard Model value. However, experimental limits from $ΔM_s$, $ΔΓ_s$ as well as $K$ mixing and electroweak corrections constrain it to be greater than a $σ$ away from its experimental average value. This model cannot fully account for the DØ anomaly due to its inability to generate sufficient new contribution to the width difference $Γ^s_{12}$, even though the model can generate large contribution to the mass difference $M^s_{12}$.

Nonzero Theta13 for Neutrino Mixing in a Supersymmetric B-L Gauge Model with T_7 Lepton Flavor Symmetry

We discuss how θ_{13} \neq 0 is accommodated in a recently proposed renormalizable model of neutrino mixing using the non-Abelian discrete symmetry T_7 in the context of a supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model with gauged U(1)_{B-L}. We predict a correlation between θ_{13} and θ_{23}, as well as the effective neutrino mass m_{ee} in neutrinoless double beta decay.

Observable T_7 Lepton Flavor Symmetry at the Large Hadron Collider

More often than not, models of flavor symmetry rely on the use of nonrenormalizable operators (in the guise of flavons) to accomplish the phenomenologically successful tribimaximal mixing of neutrinos. We show instead how a simple renormalizable two-parameter neutrino mass model of tribimaximal mixing can be constructed with the non-Abelian discrete symmetry T_7 and the gauging of B-L. This is also achieved without the addition of auxiliary symmetries and particles present in almost all other proposals. Most importantly, it is verifiable at the Large Hadron Collider.

Right-handed Sneutrino Dark Matter in Supersymmetric B-L Model

We show that the lightest right-handed sneutrino in TeV scale supersymmetric B-L model with inverse seesaw mechanism is a viable candidate for cold dark matter. We find that it accounts for the observed dark matter relic abundance in a wide range of parameter space. The spin-independent cross section of B-L right-handed sneutrino is consistent with the recent results CDMS II and XENON experiments and it is detectable in future direct detection experiments. Although the B-L right-handed sneutrinos annihilate into leptons, the PAMELA results can not be explained in this model unless a huge boost factor is considered. Also the muon flux generated by B-L right-handed sneutrino in the galactic center is smaller than Super-Kamiokande's upper bound.

Right-handed Sneutrino Inflation in SUSY B-L with Inverse Seesaw

We propose a scenario for realizing inflation in the framework of supersymmetric B-L extension of the Standard Model. We find that one of the associated right-handed sneutrinos (the superpartner of the Standard Model singlet fermion) can provide a new non-trivial inflationary trajectory at tree level (therefore breaking B-L during inflation). As soon as the inflation ends, the right-handed sneutrino falls into the supersymmetric vacuum, with a vanishing vacuum expectation value, so that B-L symmetry is restored. In this class of models, the B-L gauge symmetry will be radiatively broken at a TeV scale and light neutrino masses are generated through the inverse seesaw mechanism.

TeV Scale Gauged B-L With Inverse Seesaw Mechanism

We propose a modified version of the TeV scale B-L extension of the standard model, where neutrino masses are generated through the inverse seesaw mechanism. We show that heavy neutrinos associated with this model can be accessible via clean signals at the LHC. The search for the extra gauge boson Z'_{B-L} through the decay into dileptons or two dileptons plus missing energy is studied. We also show that the B-L extra Higgs can be directly probed at the LHC via a clean dilepton and missing energy signal.

Gauged B-L Leptogenesis

We propose a new leptogenesis scenario in a gauged $B-L$ model with supersymmetry at the TeV energy scale. Instead of relying on the very small Yukawa couplings of the singlet neutrinos $N^c$ to generate the observed baryon asymmetry of the Universe, which requires a very large resonance enhancement, their $B-L$ gauge interactions are invoked. Successful leptogenesis is then possible if a particular scalar bilinear $\tilde N^c \tilde N^c$ term is disallowed.

Lepton flavor violation in supersymmetric B-L extension of the standard model

Supersymmetric B-L extension of the Standard Model (SM) is one of the best candidate for physics beyond the SM that accounts for TeV scale seesaw mechanism and provides an attractive solution for the Higgs naturalness problem. We analyze the charged lepton flavor violation (LFV) in this class of models. We show that due to the smallness of Dirac neutrino Yukawa coupling, the decay rates of l_i -> l_j gamma and l_i -> 3 l_j, generated by the renormalization group evolution of soft SUSY breaking terms from GUT to seesaw scale, are quite suppressed. Therefore, this model is free from the stringent LFV constraints usually imposed on the supersymmetric seesaw model. We also demonstrate that the right-sneutrino is a long-lived particle and can be pair produced at the LHC through the B-L gauge boson. Then, they decay into same-sign dilepton, with a total cross section of order O(1) pb. This signal is one of the striking signatures of supersymmetric B-L extension of the SM.

A new strategy for probing the Majorana neutrino CP violating phases and masses

We propose a new strategy for detecting the CP-violating phases and the effective mass of muon Majorana neutrinos by measuring observables associated with neutrino-antineutrino oscillations in $π^{\pm}$ decays. Within the generic framework of quantum field theory, we compute the non-factorizable probability for producing a pair of same-charged muons in $π^{\pm}$ decays as a distinctive signature of $ν_μ-\bar{ν_μ}$ oscillations. We show that an intense neutrino beam through a long baseline experiment is favored for probing the Majorana phases. Using the neutrino-antineutrino oscillation probability reported by MINOS collaboration, a new stringent bound on the effective muon-neutrino mass is derived.

Electron EDM and soft leptogenesis in supersymmetric B-L extension of the standard model

We analyze the connection between electric dipole moment of the electron and the soft leptogenesis in supersymmetric $B-L$ extension of the standard model. In this model, the $B-L$ symmetry is radiatively broken at TeV scale. Therefore, it is a natural framework for low scale seesaw mechanism and also for implementing the soft leptogenesis. We show that the phases of trilinear soft SUSY breaking couplings $A$, which are relevant for the lepton asymmetry, are not constrained by the present experimental bounds on electric dipole moment. As in the MSSM extended with right-handed neutrinos, successful leptogenesis requires small bilinear coupling $B$, which is now given by $A_N$ and $B-L$ breaking VEVs. SUSY $B-L$ model with non-universal $A$-terms such that $A_N=0$ while $A_ν\neq0$ is a promising scenario for soft leptogenesis. The proposed EDM experiments will test this scenario in the future.

Generalized Lepton Number and Dark Left-Right Gauge Model

In a left-right gauge model of particle interactions, the left-handed fermion doublet (nu,e)_L is connected to its right-handed counterpart (n,e)_R through a scalar bidoublet so that e_L pairs with e_R, and nu_L with n_R to form mass terms. Suppose the latter link is severed without affecting the former, then n_R is not the mass partner of nu_L, and as we show in this paper, becomes a candidate for dark matter which is relevant for the recent PAMELA and ATIC observations. We accomplish this in a specific nonsupersymmetric model, where a generalized lepton number can be defined, so that n_R and W_R are odd under R = (-1)^{3B+L+2j}. Fermionic leptoquarks are also predicted.

QFT results for neutrino oscillations and New Physics

The CP asymmetry in neutrino oscillations, assuming new physics at production and/or detection processes, is analyzed. We compute this CP asymmetry using the standard quantum field theory within a general new physics scenario that may generate new sources of CP and flavor violation. Well known results for the CP asymmetry are reproduced in the case of V -A operators, and additional contributions from new physics operators are derived. We apply this formalism to SUSY extensions of the Standard Model where the contributions from new operators could produce a CP asymmetry observable in the next generation of neutrino experiments.

Supersymmetric contributions to B --> K pi in the view of recent experimental result

Supersymmetric contributions to the branching ratios and CP asymmetries of B--> K pi decays are analyzed in the view of recent experimental measurements. We show that supersymmetry can still provide a natural solution to the apparent discrepancy between theses results and the standard model expectations. We emphasize that chargino contributions may enhance the electroweak penguin effects that can resolve to the B--> K pi puzzle. We also point out that a non-universal $A$-terms is an essential requirement for this solution.

CP asymmetries and branching ratios of B --> K πin supersymmetric models

We analyze the supersymmetric contributions to the direct and mixing CP asymmetries and also to the branching ratios of the B --> K πdecays in a model independent way. We consider both gluino and chargino exchanges and emphasize that a large gluino contribution is essential for saturating the direct and mixing CP asymmetries. We also find that combined contributions from the penguin diagrams with chargino and gluino in the loop could lead to a possible solution for the branching ratios puzzle and account for the results of R_c and R_n within b --> s γconstraints. When all relevant constraints are satisfied, our result indicates that supersymmetry favors lower values of R_c. Finally we study the correlations between the mixing CP asymmetry S_{K^0 π^0} and mixing CP asymmetries of the processes B --> ϕK and B --> η' K. We show that it is quite possible for gluino exchanges to accommodate the results of that observables

Probing Flavor Structure in Supersymmetric Theories

We analyze the possibility of probing the supersymmetric flavor structure through the constraints of the K and B meson systems and those of the electric dipole moments. We show that combining these constraints would favor SUSY models with large flavor mixing either in LR(RL) or LL but with a very small RR and intermediate/large tan beta. Large LR mixing requires specific patterns for trilinear A-terms, while LL mixing seems quite natural and easier to obtain. We present an example for this class of models and show how it can accommodate the current CP asymmetries experimental results.

Supersymmetric contributions to the CP asymmetry of the B --> phi K and B --> eta' K

We analyse the CP asymmetry of the B --> phi K and B --> eta' K processes in general supersymmetric models. We consider both gluino and chargino exchanges in a model independent way by using the mass insertion approximation method. We adopt the QCD factorization method for evaluating the corresponding hadronic matrix elements. We show that chromomagnetic type of operator may play an important role in accounting for the deviation of the mixing CP asymmetry between B --> phi K and B --> J/psi K processes observed by Belle and BaBar experiments. We also show that due to the different parity in the final states of these processes, their supersymmetric contributions from the R-sector have an opposite sign, which naturally explain the large deviation between their asymmetries.

Can the CKM phase be the only source of CP violation?

We address the question of whether the CP violating phase in the CKM mixing matrix can be the only source of all CP violation. We show that in supersymmetric models with new flavour structure beyond the Yukawa matrices, the CKM phase can generate the required baryon asymmetry and also accounts for all observed results in K and B systems, in particular $ε'/ε$ and the CP asymmetry of $B \to ϕK_S$.

CP violation in supersymmetric theories

We review the present status of CP violating problem in supersymmetric extensions of the standard model. We analyze the constraints imposed by the experimental limits of the electron, neutron, and mercury electric dipole moments on the supersymmetric CP phases and show that only the scenarios with flavour-off- diagonal CP violation remain attractive. These scenarios require hermitian Yukawa matrices which naturally arise in models with left-right symmetry or a SU(3) flavour symmetry. In this case, epsilon_K and epsilon'/epsilon can be saturated by a small non-universality of the soft scalar masses through the gluino and chargino contributions respectively. The model also predicts a strong correlation between A_{CP}(b-> s gamma) and the neutron electric dipole moment. In this framework, the standard model gives a the leading contribution to the CP asymmetry in B ->psi K_S decay, while the dominant chargino contribution to this asymmetry is < 0.2. Thus, no constraint is set on the non-universality of this model by the recent BaBar and Belle measureets.

Lepton-Flavor Violation with Non-universal Soft Terms

We study the lepton-flavor violation processes tau ->mu gamma and mu->e gamma in two different examples of models with non-universal soft breaking terms derived from strings. We show that the predictions are quite different from those of universal scenarios. Non-universal A-terms provide an interesting framework to enhance the supersymmetric contributions to CP violation effects. We observe that in the case of the lepton-flavor violation we study, the non-universality of the scalar masses enhances the branching ratios more significantly than the non-universality of the A-terms. We find that the current experimental bounds on these processes restrict both the parameter space of the models and the texture of the Yukawa couplings which predicts the lepton masses, providing at the same time an interesting experimental test for physics beyond the Standard Model.

Examining the cancellation mechanism of neutron EDM in a model with dilaton-dominated susy breaking

We examine the cancellation mechanism between the different contributions to the electric dipole moment of the neutron in a model with dilaton-dominated SUSY breaking. We find these accidental cancellations occur at few points in parameter space. For a wide region of this space we must constrain the phase of $μ$ to be of order $10^{-1}$ and have the phases of $A$ and $μ$ strongly correlated in order to have small neutron EDM. Moreover, we consider the indirect CP violation parameter $ε$ in this region where the electric dipole moment is less than the experimental limit and find that we can generate $ε$ of order $10^{-6}$.

Low energy consequences from supersymmetric models with left-right symmetry

We consider several low energy consequences arising from a class of supersymmetric models based on the gauge groups $SU(2)_L\times SU(2)_R \times U(1)_{B-L}$ and $SU(4)_C\times SU(2)_L \times SU(2)_R$ in which the gauge hierarchy and $μ$ problems have been resolved. There are important constraints on the MSSM parameters $\tan β(\simeq m_t/m_b)$, $B$ and $μ$, and we discuss how they are reconciled with radiative electroweak breaking. We also consider the ensuing sparticle and Higgs spectroscopy, as well as the decays $b\to s γ$ and $μ\to e γ$. The latter process may be amenable to experimental tests through an order of magnitude increase in sensitivity.

Supersymmetric CP violation $ε'/ε$ due to asymmetric A-matrix

We study contributions of supersymmetric CP phases to the CP violation $ε'/ε$ in models with asymmetric $A$-matrices. We consider asymmetric $A$-matrices, which are obtained from string-inspired supergravity. We show that a certain type of asymmetry of $A$-matrices enhances supersymmetric contributions to the CP violation $ε'/ε$ and the supersymmetric contribution to $ε'/ε$ can be of order of the KTeV result, $ε'/ε\sim 10^{-3}$.

From $b \to s γ$ to the LSP Detection Rates in Minimal String Unification Models

We exploit the measured branching ratio for $b \rightarrow sγ$ to derive lower limits on the sparticle and Higgs masses in the minimal string unification models. For the LSP('bino'), chargino and the lightest Higgs, these turn out to be 50, 90 and 75 GeV respectively. Taking account of the upper bounds on the mass spectrum from the LSP relic abundance, we estimate the direct detection rate for the latter to vary from 10^{-1} to 10^{-4} events/kg/day. The muon flux, produced by neutrinos from the annihilating LSP's, varies in the range 10^{-2} - 10^{-9} muons/m^2/day.

Sparticle and Higgs masses within minimal string unification

We consider the sparticle and higgs spectroscopy in a class of superstring inspired models in which the string threshold corrections ensure the consistency of the string unification scale with the low energy data. The lightest neutralino is almost a pure bino and it is predicted to be the lightest sparticle (LSP). Requiring that $Ω_{LSP}\leq 0.9$, we find an upper bound on its mass which, in the case of dilaton supersymmetry breaking, turns out to be 160 GeV. The LEP 1.5 experimental lower bound on the chargino mass, $m_{χ^{\pm}} > 65$ GeV, implies that the lower bound on the LSP mass is $m_{LSP} > 32 (45)$ GeV, corresponding to $μ< (>)0$. We also determine the lower and upper bounds on the higgs and other sparticle masses. For instance, the lightest higgs lies between 65 and 115 GeV, while the mass of the lightest charged sparticle satisfies 47 GeV $ < m_{\tilde{e}_R} < 325$ GeV. With only the top Yukawa coupling of order unity we find that $ 1.5 \leq \tan β\leq 3.5$.

Yukawa Unification in Moduli-dominant SUSY Breaking

We study Yukawa unification in string models with moduli-dominant SUSY breaking. This type of SUSY breaking in general leads to non-universal soft masses, i.e., soft scalar masses and gaugino masses. Such non-universality is important for phenomenological aspects of Yukawa unification, i.e., successful electroweak breaking, SUSY corrections to the bottom mass and the branching ratio of $b \to s γ$. We show three regions in the whole parameter space which lead to successful electroweak breaking and allow small SUSY corrections to the bottom mass. For these three regions we investigate the $b \to s γ$ decay and mass spectra.

Low Energy Implications of Minimal Superstring Unification

We study the phenomenological implications of effective supergravities based on string vacua with spontaneously broken N=1 supersymmetry by dilaton and moduli $F$-terms. We further require Minimal String Unification, namely that large string threshold corrections ensure the correct unification of the gauge couplings at the grand unification scale. The whole supersymmetric mass spectrum turns out to be determined in terms of only two independent parameters, the dilaton-moduli mixing angle and the gravitino mass. In particular we discuss the region of the parameter space where at least one superpartner is ``visible" at LEP2. We find that the most likely candidates are the scalar partner of the right-handed electron and the lightest chargino, with interesting correlations between their masses and with the mass of the lightest higgs. We show how discovering SUSY particles at LEP2 might rather sharply discriminate between scenarios with pure dilaton SUSY breaking and mixed dilaton-moduli breaking.
