Homogenization for dislocation based gradient visco-plasticit

In this work we study the homogenization for infinitesimal dislocation based gradient viscoplasticity with linear kinematic hardening and general non-associative monotone plastic flows. The constitutive equations in the models we study are assumed to be only of monotone type. Based on the generalized version of Korn's inequality for incompatible tensor fields (the non-symmetric plastic distortion) due to Neff/Pauly/Witsch, we derive uniform estimates for the solutions of quasistatic initial-boundary value problems under consideration and then using an unfolding operator technique and a monotone operator method we obtain the homogenized system of equations.

Well-posedness for dislocation based gradient visco-plasticity with isotropic hardening

In this work we establish the well-posedness for infinitesimal dislocation based gradient viscoplasticity with isotropic hardening for general gradient monotone plastic flows. We assume an additive split of the displacement gradient into non-symmetric elastic distortion and non-symmetric plastic distortion. The thermodynamic potential is augmented with a term taking the dislocation density tensor $\operatorname{Curl} p$ into account. The constitutive equations in the models we study are assumed to be of self-controlling type. Based on the generalized version of Korn's inequality for incompatible tensor fields (the non-symmetric plastic distortion) due to Neff/Pauly/Witsch the existence of solutions of quasi-static initial-boundary value problems under consideration is shown using a time-discretization technique and a monotone operator method.

Measure-valued solutions for models of ferroelectric material behavior

In this work we study the solvability of the initial boundary value problems, which model a quasi-static nonlinear behavior of ferroelectric materials. Similar to the metal plasticity the energy functional of a ferroelectric material can be additively decomposed into reversible and remanent parts. The remanent part associated with the remanent state of the material is assumed to be a convex non-quadratic function $f$ of internal variables. In this work we introduce the notion of the measure-valued solutions for the ferroelectric models and show their existence in the rate-dependent case assuming the coercivity of the function $f$. Regularizing the energy functional by a quadratic positive definite term, which can be viewed as hardening, we show the existence of measure-valued solutions for the rate-independent and rate-dependent problems avoiding the coercivity assumption on $f$.
