Violation of cosmic censorship in the gravitational collapse of a dust cloud in five dimension

We analyze the null geodesic equations in five dimensional spherically symmetric spacetime with collapsing inhomogeneous dust cloud. By using a new method, we prove the existence and non-existence of solutions to null geodesic equation emanating from central singularity for smooth initial distribution of dust. Moreover, we also show that the null geodesics can extend to null infinity in a certain case, which imply the violation of cosmic censorship conjecture.

Lovelock black holes with non-constant curvature horizon

This paper studies a class of $D=n+2(\ge 6)$ dimensional solutions to Lovelock gravity that is described by the warped product of a two-dimensional Lorentzian metric and an $n$-dimensional Einstein space. Assuming that the angular part of the stress-energy tensor is proportional to the Einstein metric, it turns out that the Weyl curvature of an Einstein space must obey two kinds of algebraic conditions. We present some exact solutions satisfying these conditions. We further define the quasilocal mass corresponding to the Misner-Sharp mass in general relativity. It is found that the quasilocal mass is constructed out of the Kodama flux and satisfies the unified first law and the monotonicity property under the dominant energy condition. Making use of the quasilocal mass, we show Birkhoff's theorem and address various aspects of dynamical black holes characterized by trapping horizons.

The most general second-order field equations of bi-scalar-tensor theory in four dimensions

The Horndeski theory is known as the most general scalar-tensor theory with second-order field equations. In this paper, we explore the bi-scalar extension of the Horndeski theory. Following Horndeski's approach, we determine all the possible terms appearing in the second-order field equations of the bi-scalar-tensor theory. We compare the field equations with those of the generalized multi-Galileons, and confirm that our theory contains new terms that are not included in the latter theory. We also discuss the construction of the Lagrangian leading to our most general field equations.

Strictly static spacetimes and positive mass in the Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet theory

In the Einstein gravity, it is well-known that strictly stationary and vacuum regular spacetime should be the Minkowski spacetime. In the Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet theory, we shall show the similar statement, that is, strictly static(no event horizon), vacuum and asymptotically flat spacetimes with conformally static slices are the Minkowski spacetime when the curvature corrections are small.

A perturbative no-hair of form fields for higher dimensional static black holes

In this paper we examine the static perturbation of p-form field strengths around higher dimensional Schwarzschild spacetimes. As a result, we can see that the static perturbations do not exist when p\geq 3. This result supports the no-hair properties of p-form fields. However, this does not exclude the presence of the black objects having non-spherical topology.

Spherical collapse of inhomogeneous dust cloud in the Lovelock theory

We study gravitational collapse of a spherically symmetric inhomogeneous dust cloud in the Lovelock theory without cosmological constant. We show that the final fate of gravitational collapse in this theory depends on the spacetime dimensions. In odd dimensions the naked singularities formed are found to be massive. In the even dimensions,on the other hand, the naked singularities are found to be massless. We also show that the curvature strength of naked singularity is independent of the spacetime dimensions in odd dimensions. However, it depends on the spacetime dimensions in even dimension.

Multipole moments for black objects in five dimensions

In higher dimensions than four, conventional uniqueness theorem in asymptotically flat space-times does not hold, i.e., black objects can not be classified only by the mass, angular momentum and charge. In this paper, we define multipole moments for black objects and show that Myers-Perry black hole and black ring can be distinguished by quadrupole moments. This consideration gives us a new insight for the uniqueness theorem for black objects in higher dimensions.
