Partial classification of the large-time behavior of solutions to cubic nonlinear Schrödinger systems

In this paper, we study the large-time behavior of small solutions to the standard form of the systems of 1D cubic nonlinear Schrödinger equations consisting of two components and possessing a coercive mass-like conserved quantity. The cubic nonlinearity is known to be critical in one space dimension in view of the large-time behavior. By employing the result by Katayama and Sakoda, one can obtain the large-time behavior of the solution if we can integrate the corresponding ODE system. We introduce an integration scheme suited to the system. The key idea is to rewrite the ODE system, which is cubic, as a quadratic system of quadratic quantities of the original unknown. By using this technique, we described the large-time behavior of solutions in terms of elementary functions and the Jacobi elliptic functions for several examples of standard systems.

Polynomial deceleration for a system of cubic nonlinear Schrödinger equations in one space dimension

In this paper, we consider the initial value problem of a specific system of cubic nonlinear Schrödinger equations. Our aim of this research is to specify the asymptotic profile of the solution in $L^{\infty}$ as $t \to \infty$. It is then revealed that the solution decays slower than a linear solution does. Further, the difference of the decay rate is a polynomial order. This deceleration of the decay is due to an amplification effect by the nonlinearity. This nonlinear amplification phenomena was previously known for several specific systems, however the deceleration of the decay in these results was by a logarithmic order. As far as we know, the system studied in this paper is the first model in that the deceleration in a polynomial order is justified.

Scattering for the mass-critical nonlinear Klein-Gordon equations in three and higher dimensions

In this paper we consider the real-valued mass-critical nonlinear Klein-Gordon equations in three and higher dimensions. We prove the dichotomy between scattering and blow-up below the ground state energy in the focusing case, and the energy scattering in the defocusing case. We use the concentration-compactness/rigidity method as R. Killip, B. Stovall, and M. Visan [Trans. Amer. Math. Soc. 364 (2012)]. The main new novelty is to approximate the large scale (low-frequency) profile by the solution of the mass-critical nonlinear Schrödinger equation when the nonlinearity is not algebraic.

A sharp scattering threshold level for mass-subcritical nonlinear Schrödinger system

In this paper, we consider the quadratic nonlinear Schrödinger system in three space dimensions. Our aim is to obtain sharp scattering criteria. Because of the mass-subcritical nature, it is difficult to do so in terms of conserved quantities. The corresponding single equation is studied by the second author and a sharp scattering criteria is established by introducing a distance from a trivial scattering solution, the zero solution. By the structure of the nonlinearity we are dealing with, the system admits a scattering solution which is a pair of zero solution and a linear solution. Taking this fact into account, we introduce a new optimizing quantity and give a sharp scattering criterion in terms of it.

Stability of small solitary waves for the 1$d$ NLS with an attractive delta potential

We consider the initial-value problem for the one-dimensional nonlinear Schrödinger equation in the presence of an attractive delta potential. We show that for sufficiently small initial data, the corresponding global solution decomposes into a small solitary wave plus a radiation term that decays and scatters as $t\to\infty$. In particular, we establish the asymptotic stability of the family of small solitary waves.

Existence of a minimal non-scattering solution to the mass-subcritical generalized Korteweg-de Vries equation

In this article, we prove existence of a non-scattering solution, which is minimal in some sense, to the mass-subcritical generalized Korteweg-de Vries (gKdV) equation in the scale critical ^L^r space. We construct this solution by a concentration compactness argument. Then, key ingredients are a linear profile decomposition result adopted to ^L^r-framework and approximation of solutions to the gKdV equation which involves rapid linear oscillation by means of solutions to the nonlinear Schr"odinger equation.

Long range scattering for nonlinear Schrödinger equations with critical homogeneous nonlinearity

In this paper, we consider the final state problem for the nonlinear Schrödinger equation with a homogeneous nonlinearity which is of the long range critical order and is not necessarily a polynomial, in one and two space dimensions. As the nonlinearity is the critical order, the possible asymptotic behavior depends on the shape of the nonlinearity. The aim here is to give a sufficient condition on the nonlinearity to construct a modified wave operator. To deal with a non-polynomial nonlinearity, we decompose it into a resonant part and a non-resonant part via the Fourier series expansion. Our sufficient condition is then given in terms of the Fourier coefficients. In particular, we need to pay attention to the decay of the Fourier coefficients since the non-resonant part is an infinite sum in general.

Two minimization problems on non-scattering solutions to mass-subcritical nonlinear Schrödinger equation

In this paper, we introduce two minimization problems on non-scattering solutions to nonlinear Schrödinger equation. One gives us a sharp scattering criterion, the other is concerned with minimal size of blowup profiles. We first reformulate several previous results in terms of these two minimizations. Then, the main result of the paper is existence of minimizers to the both minimization problems for mass-subcritical nonlinear Schrödinger equations. To consider the latter minimization, we consider the equation in a Fourier transform of generalized Morrey space. It turns out that the minimizer to the latter problem possesses a compactness property, which is so-called almost periodicity modulo symmetry.

On well-posedness of generalized Korteweg-de Vries equation in scale critical ^L^r space

The purpose of this paper is to study local and global well-posedness of initial value problem for generalized Korteweg-de Vries (gKdV) equation in ^L^r. We show (large data) local well-posedness, small data global well-posedness, and small data scattering for gKdV equation in the scale critical ^L^r space. A key ingredient is a Stein-Tomas type inequality for the Airy equation, which generalizes usual Strichartz estimates for ^L^r-framework.

A sharp scattering condition for focusing mass-subcritical nonlinear Schrödinger equation

This article is concerned with time global behavior of solutions to focusing mass-subcritical nonlinear Schrödinger equation of power type with data in a critical homogeneous weighted $L^2$ space. We give a sharp sufficient condition for scattering by proving existence of a threshold solution which does not scatter at least for one time direction and of which initial data attains minimum value of a norm of the weighted $L^2$ space in all initial value of non-scattering solution. Unlike in the mass-critical or -supercritical case, ground state is not a threshold. This is an extension of previous author's result to the case where the exponent of nonlinearity is below so-called Strauss number. A main new ingredient is a stability estimate in a Lorenz-modified-Bezov type spacetime norm.

Analysis of Hartree equation with an interaction growing at the spatial infinity

We consider nonlinear Schrödinger equation with a Hartree-type nonlocal nonlinearity. The case where a nonlinear interaction potential grows at the spatial infinity is studied. By virtue of an effective decomposition of the nonlinearity based on conservation of mass, this kind of growing nonlinear interaction is known to contain an effect like a linear potential. In this paper, a well-posedness result is obtained in a suitable energy space for a class of interaction potential growing at the spatial infinity in at most the quadratic order. If the growth rate of interaction potential is faster than the linear order, a priori information on the center of mass plays a crucial role. When the interaction potential is exactly in the quadratic order, solution are written explicitly.

On minimal non-scattering solution for focusing mass-subcritical nonlinear Schrödinger equation

We consider time global behavior of solutions to the focusing mass-subcritical NLS equation in weighted $L^2$ space. We prove that there exists a threshold solution such that (i) it does not scatter; (ii) with respect to a certain scale-invariant quantity, this solution attains minimum value in all non-scattering solutions. In the mass-critical case, it is known that ground states are this kind of threshold solution. However, in our case, it turns out that the above threshold solution is not a standing-wave solution.

An example of stable excited state on nonlinear Schrödinger equation with nonlocal nonlinearity

In this article, we consider nonlinear Schrödinger equation with nonlocal nonlinearity which is a generalized model of the Schrödinger-Poisson system (Schrödinger-Newton equations) in low dimensions. We first prove the global well-posedness in wider space than in previous result and show the stability of standing waves including excites states. It turns out that an example of stable excite states with high Morse index is contained. Several examples of traveling-wave-type solutions are also given.

Energy solution to Schrödinger-Poisson system in the two-dimensional whole space

We consider the Cauchy problem of the two-dimensional Schrödinger-Poisson system in the energy class. Though the Newtonian potential diverges at the spatial infinity in the logarithmic order, global well-posedness is proven in both defocusing and focusing cases. The key is a decomposition of the nonlinearity into a sum of the linear logarithmic potential and a good remainder, which enables us to apply the perturbation method. Our argument can be adapted to the one-dimensional problem.
